In Managua, Nicaragua’s co-presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo presided over the graduation of 26 new army officers while rallying regional support for Venezuela. During the ceremony honoring guerrilla priest Gaspar García Laviana, Ortega reaffirmed his “unconditional” support for President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan people amid a new U.S. military escalation in the Caribbean. He condemned imperialist threats, the economic siege, and the “theft” of Venezuelan assets such as CITGO, warning that any foreign intervention would destabilize the region. Ortega emphasized that the alliance between Sandinismo and the Bolivarian Revolution remains firm “in all times and circumstances,” urging Latin American governments to reject regime-change operations and defend regional sovereignty.
