00:01they say don't ever work with babies or animals but what if they're baby animals
00:11it was only born this morning on this all new season welcome back to the ever-changing world
00:21of taronga where you'll witness things you never thought possible you can actually hear her
00:29breathe and meet new faces oh hi buddy you'll never forget so good it's time to discover oh my god
00:40exactly who's who in this zoo
00:48on this episode why are you doing that after a wee hiccup at the start you wouldn't want to lie
00:55in
00:55urine neither to tigers it's all systems go for mawa the tiger one two three there we go and the
01:03health check if she says go out you exit straightaway that could change her life he's a very special cat
01:11a blind date with a difference mate spud but Australia's smallest bachelor we want to introduce
01:18into penny isn't just playing hard to get spud he's playing hard to find it's the first time that
01:26he would have been introduced to a female other than his mum and the race is on to find out
01:33just
01:33what's bugging molly this is not the grossest thing we can do in our day
01:46it's springtime and taronga's two zoos are bursting with healthy animals
01:55and brimming with happy keepers it's paddy hey for one particular species these balmy days are all the
02:07excuse they need to slip back into the cool shade of their jungle habitat Sumatran tigers come from
02:15the island of Sumatra in Indonesia in the wild they actually live amongst this beautiful foliage so
02:22they need stripes to help hide amongst all the shadows of the forest tiger stripes are all
02:29individual on each animal sort of like a thumbprint or a fingerprint for a human we actually look at
02:35the different stripes on their tails or their faces and that's one of the ways that the keepers
02:40can actually ID the different tigers when they're out and they're running around together every day I
02:45thank my lucky stars that I work with Sumatran tigers they're actually critically endangered in
02:51the wild so there's less than 350 individuals left which is just drastically low we have a family
02:59group here at Taronga we have Katika and her offspring Pemina and his sister Mawa so now that Mawa
03:07and Pemina are five years old they have been matched genetically with tigers in the US so we're hoping
03:15that they can become part of this global breeding program for Sumatran tigers that's right these
03:22feline siblings have a date with genetic destiny they'll be on the move traveling over 14,000 kilometers
03:31to spread their love across a couple of zoos in the US of A but there's a catch they actually
03:41depend
03:41on each other to get past and to be able to be shipped overseas because the US zoos are actually
03:48sharing the cost of the flight and they will actually be sharing quarantine facilities once
03:52they're over in the US so we're hoping that after they both have health check that they both pass if
03:58one
03:59doesn't pass the other one may not go Pemina's already had his health check and while keeper Tamara
04:07waits for his results it's his sister Mawa's turn which means Mawa will need a general anesthetic which
04:17means a sharp needle which means you guessed it a training session so Molly and I are about to do
04:26a
04:26training session for Mawa we've got the pole that will actually be using on the day with a blunt needle
04:32on it in the past when we had to anesthetize a dangerous animal like a tiger the vets would
04:37actually come in with a dart gun and they would dart the tigers it was very very stressful it took
04:43them a really long time to fall asleep because that adrenaline was coursing through them so now
04:48we use cooperative care where it's the animals choice to come up and participate in a training
04:52session if they don't want to they won't hey Mawa cool hey good morning you ready for your session
05:01oh you're a good girl you ready Mawa hello on command Mawa has been trained to drop close to the
05:11keepers
05:12well that's very far away can we try again come on up you get Mawa up you get let's try
05:20again the love
05:21her head and her hips are supposed to both be near the mesh but just one day before her critically
05:34important health check Mawa is choosing not to participate this is her first ever GA and it's a
05:45a lot of stress for us as keepers we want it to go to plan we want it to be
05:50smooth come on Mawa
05:59drop why are you doing that Mawa Mawa Mawa you have never done this in a training session ever the
06:08day
06:08before an anesthetic is not ideal at Taronga are you with your girlfriend the keepers sometimes have
06:19to give mother nature a little there we go nudge oh how cute and offer the animals the occasional helping
06:29hand whether they're big or small long-nosed poderoos are really fascinating they're a gorgeous
06:41little marsupial tiny they only weigh up to you know one and a half to two kilos they're classified
06:50as a vulnerable species the reason for that habitat loss they're the perfect weight and size as a snack
06:58for feral cats and foxes so they do get predated on a lot their numbers are declining and they are
07:06basically a threat of extinction in the future and it's that threat that has Taronga working hard to
07:16help its own potteroo population get busy and produce more little potteroos
07:27mate spud he was born here in our breeding program he's now just turned two years old he's a single
07:37male potteroo spud is our little bachelor and he's quite the catch he's a gorgeous little male full of
07:49energy loves bouncing around he's very charismatic and he actually really enjoys scratch and we want
08:01to find him a female so that he can breed and pass on his genetics which are really valuable keeper
08:08susie
08:09is playing marsupial matchmaker good morning penny and she's got high hopes i'm gonna move into your
08:18new home today that a certain little bachelorette will steal spuds heart penny's maid role is she's
08:28hopefully going to breed with spud so we can have some little potteroos to increase the population
08:34no pressure then penny she's a female that came to us from tidbimbilla nature reserve she's got a bit
08:42of a wild upbringing let's hope not too wild for spud so let's take you into woodlands let's see if
08:51spud is
08:57back over in the tiger's den i'm gonna try one more time mawa the sumatran tiger is supposed to be
09:05practicing for tomorrow's pole injection why are you doing that we have not done that since you were tiny
09:12but she isn't cooperating mawa has never ever not come sideways to the mesh so she was landing with
09:21her bottom towards the back wall so yeah this is a great training session the day before an anesthetic
09:29hopefully we can reset and she actually does what we need her to do try again mawa
09:41no meanwhile over at the wildlife hospital vet nurse annie has got a list and she's checking it
09:50twice i'm just getting some things organized for mawa's anesthesia so as you can see my little
09:57checklist has so many things on it she's having a pre-shipment transport general anesthetic so i'm
10:05just getting a few bits and pieces together um this is probably one of the most unusual ones it's
10:10not a bin it's actually a face mask because ma was not had an anesthetic before i'm not quite sure
10:16what size she is so that's going to be the face mask
10:22it's been a while since i've done a tiger anesthetic probably about a year so i'm just making sure that
10:27everything's in working order because i don't want to get down there and find things not working
10:32makes any very cranky and when it comes to things not working mawa's final training session is a prime
10:40example you want to quickly go in and squeegee quick hose and squeegee keeper danielle suspects
10:49she knows the wee problem there's some urine on the floor so tigers are quite particular like us you
10:56wouldn't want to lie in urine neither to tigers so we're just going to do a quick clean so hopefully
11:00we can have a successful training session
11:12that should be enough there what do you think mawa are we doing a good job
11:19look at that it's nice and dry nice and clean okay what do you reckon you've inspected did we do
11:27a
11:27good enough job there we go princess mawa and with the all clear from this sumatran uh princess
11:35yeah see it's much better pole injection practice can resume and try again i can come down drop
11:50touch so far so good hey you've never done that either she's never done that looks like it's just
12:00one of those days
12:06still to come oh look at all these she resisted at first if you asked a keeper what their favorite
12:14animal would be they would say they don't have one but then molly couldn't help herself she is
12:20just my favorite animal in the whole wide world and a really big day pretty exciting having my first
12:26procedure being for a critically endangered species like the sumatran tiger for newbie jess go my little
12:33little protégé
12:40in the deepest darkest depths of taronga's wild bushland
12:46all right oh keeper molly is off the beaten track
12:52and on the hunt for oh look at all these bugs so these are all perfect logs you can hear
13:02how rotten
13:04they are and the more rotten means the more room for bugs i'm one of the carnivore keepers here at
13:09the
13:09zoo we've got the smallest carnivores the meerkats and the red pandas and the otters as well and then
13:18some of the largest so mary our sunbear and then even the lions and tigers
13:26these are all perfect for meerkats and sunbear i can see a few ants a few centipedes
13:33if there's some spiders and grubs that would be even better
13:36oh rotten logs are kind of the perfect example of that phrase one man's trash is another one's
13:42treasure so i guess most people would see an old log on the side of the road and think it's
13:46in the
13:46way or remove it but for us that's actually like gold we go searching for the most rotten and the
13:51ones
13:52with the most insects and it's like treasure for our meerkats oh so many bugs with the logs collected
13:59it's time to distribute them amongst taronga's residents
14:04here at taronga we currently have a group of nine meerkats and they're actually all sisters as well
14:10which is a bit unique
14:14sentry duty is the most essential meerkat behavior in the wild
14:18this behavior is actually an entire meerkat mob's responsibility
14:23and if you look closely you'll see they actually all take turns in this behavior so it's almost like
14:27shift work for meerkats basically one meerkat will find the highest point of their habitat
14:32because there are a lot of birds of prey in areas where they would live in southern africa
14:36which means meerkats have to be constantly looking up and being aware of when the predators may pass
14:43meerkats love insects they predominantly eat these in the wild so any opportunity for them to get into
14:48some insects they will be straight onto the whole mob has to work together to get all of the insects
14:54out as a team so something as simple as a log can encourage some pretty amazing behaviors
15:01but as amazing as the meerkats are there's just something about mary and keeper molly has saved
15:09some of the juiciest logs just for her i think if you asked a keeper what their favorite animal would
15:15be they would say they don't have one but if you ask them a second time it'll always come out
15:21mine has to be some bears as a species but in particular mary she is just my favorite animal
15:27in the whole wide world
15:32all right so this delicious log was from our meerkat exhibit so
15:38it won't only have a lot of bugs but it's also going to have that meerkat smell for her as
15:43well
15:45so this is like prime rod and log you can see it's literally crumbling away as i touch it oh
15:51look at
15:51that in the wild some bears would be using their long claws to break into trees and termite mounds to
15:57get out all of the insects so it's a great way for them to source food but it also means
16:01they keep
16:02their claws nice and i'm sure and not too long and sharp so mary's gonna love that one
16:14over in the tiger's den it's the day before mowar's first ever general anesthetic and health check
16:27and ideal is not how you'd describe this final practice session for the first time ever she decided
16:34to bite the end of the tube that the milk was coming out can you can you let that go
16:39please nope
16:41and pulled the whole entire thing out she's never done that before either give us some milk oh that's
16:48tricky yeah there you go no it's not gonna come through this gap i win i've trained mower since
17:05about one week cold and that training session was probably the worst training session she's ever had
17:12mower mower mower try again mower it's now crunch time with a new day comes new hope it's time to
17:23see if mower can put her worst ever pole injection training session behind her and get the job done
17:31do you want to take out the blue blood pressure cuff yeah and whack it on the bench with all
17:35the others
17:36it's the same size so in the wildlife hospital vet nurse annie will not only be helping administer
17:44mower's anesthetic gas make sure the bag fills up you've done it before annie anyone would think
17:51she's also supervising the wildlife hospital's newest recruit that's all connected so if we do need to
17:58take it into the den yep um and you're getting people to help obviously that just needs to come together
18:04yeah because that's connected to that i do get very excited when we're doing lions and tigers and
18:09then that excitement then turns into a little bit of anxiousness and fear but we do have our wonderful
18:15new trainee jess that's going to be shadowing both myself and tammy do you want me to get the orange
18:20box
18:21too yeah if i'm excited she's her head's going to be exploding i can only imagine put the arm runners
18:27on
18:27now so they're ready or not don't have to because uh we won't know what side they want to lay
18:33her so
18:34i've come from being a zookeeper to a trainee vet nurse and any other one from here for the tail
18:39no
18:40i've been at taronga for about three weeks now and this is my first time helping out with a procedure
18:46so this gets attached to this and then that goes to the back of the restraints pretty exciting having
18:53my first procedure being for a critically endangered species like the sumatran tiger go my little little
18:59protege you taught me so well my little protege vet francis will be overseeing mawa's examination
19:07once the tiger is brought into the hospital how about you three go in the van and us three are
19:14going
19:14to walk down the back road easy okay sumatran tigers are just beautiful it's quite a privilege to
19:20be able to work with them she's a really important animal because she's one of a small number there
19:24are not that many of them left do you want to drive gab so she's going to go to the
19:30united states to
19:31breed and we're doing a thorough health check before she goes overseas all right so thank you everyone
19:39for joining us this morning my name's georgia i'm one of the carnivore keepers here we're here for
19:44mowers anesthetic um that'll be run by francis our vet today and gabby so just from the vet side gabby's
19:52running the anesthetic so she's going to be the one that calls uh for when she's happy to have the
19:57door open yep um we want only people who have a designated job to be in and that's under gabby's
20:05direction if gabby is unhappy and wants people out if she says go out you exit straight away but before
20:13anyone can enter malware's den keeper danielle has to successfully pole inject this strong sedative
20:21into the 87 kilo tiger we're gonna use the short pole needle it all hinges on her i'm just gonna
20:30like
20:31gently just rest it on kill i am so nervous right now i've put a lot of pressure on myself
20:37to get this
20:38done you've got this gal ain't your first rodeo with malware it is because if this isn't successful
20:44then malware will need to be darted which is very stressful for her and very stressful for all of us
20:50we're on it's just a normal training session yeah
20:58back at the taronga institute of science and learning
21:02okay enough already let's just call it the potteroo bachelor pad
21:08here we are keeper susie is matchmaker susie beautiful new home hello miss penny
21:18and today potteroo penny is going on a blind date with spud
21:27spud so yeah spud's our little male long-nosed potteroo he was born here at taronga zoo then he's
21:34just over two years old now he's ready for breeding and that's why we want to introduce him to penny
21:41spud does not know what's coming it's the first time that he would have been introduced to a female
21:48other than his mum i don't think he's really got the scent or anything of penny yet
21:58but i reckon as soon as i let her out he'll be pretty interested
22:04come on spud
22:06come on buddy
22:09penny penny's ready spud's not only playing hard to get he's playing hard to find
22:18i mean you wouldn't describe it as the best first impression
22:22spud oh hang on is that
22:27nope not our guy
22:32come on bud ah gotcha oh hi buddy you can see this beautiful nest that he's built down here
22:41so you can see him peering out there of his nest and it's why a lot of australians have probably
22:46never seen a long-nosed potteroo because they are so well adapted to the australian environment and
22:53camouflaging
22:57bud come here i'm just going to put a scatter of food out for him and for penny
23:04because food is you know always a great way to meet on a first date just takes a bit of
23:10the
23:11pressure off meeting each other for the first time
23:20now for the moment of truth
23:27oh i'm not sure about her spud
23:35i'm going to step back and just watch and see what happens
23:54over at taronga's carnivore section
23:59a critically endangered sumatran tiger is about to receive its first ever pole injection
24:07ahead of a very important health check
24:11we're on well at least that's the idea i love the enthusiasm drop why are you doing that yesterday's
24:19practice didn't quite go to plan
24:23you've never done that either she's never done that and today keeper danielle is giving it another
24:30crack but this time it's the real deal if this isn't successful then mel will need to be
24:37darted which is very stressful for her and very stressful for all of us okay so we're gonna get
24:45it down a couple of touches with this oh good girl she was like ready before i was ready today
24:51they're
24:52keeping that milk bottle well away from mawa okay and mawa is now lying much closer to the keepers
25:04such good girl what a difference a day makes the sedative is in now that's what you'd call a
25:13perfect pole injection we can go tell them
25:19well done princess
25:23once the anesthetic goes in then they have to communicate with the vet because the vet is the
25:27one that's running the procedure you're okay
25:36good girl are you happy for us to come yep yeah we're going and i believe molly has just given
25:46the
25:46word and so the vets and vet nurses and myself are gonna go in and um see how she's going
25:54mawa might be down but is she out now as a dangerous animal tigers are absolutely capable of
26:01you know hurting people so gabby's just going to check how deeply sedated she is to make sure it's
26:07safe for us to actually open the door and go in with her she's looking for any signs that she's
26:11moving
26:12or twitching or moving of whiskers or blinking an eye any movement i think she's pretty good on gabby's
26:22signal the team prepare to enter mawa's den
26:30we're all being quiet because loud noises are a stimulus and we don't want her to start moving
26:37around push her that way can that stay out there and i'll just put the mask give me a second
26:46was that you any little reflex is an indication to us that mawa's perhaps not sufficiently anesthetized
26:54yeah it was nice just slipped let's just take her up ready one two three there we go okay you
27:03need to
27:03pull that out stretching it's going further we want to get her up to the hospital in a timely fashion
27:08so that we keep her anesthetic as short as we can and don't slam the door please it makes the
27:14whole
27:14process safer for her the plan is we're going to take her straight through and put her on the floor
27:22and we'll connect her up down on the ground please yep slowly down everyone it's got a little blink so
27:29mawa's just got a little bit of a blink there
27:34she's just got a little blink
27:42at taronga zoo in sydney
27:44oh all right keepers molly and tamara are preparing a particularly tasty gourmet banquet
27:53for some of the zoo's resident carnivores oh my gosh look at all the bugs oh so exciting and what's
28:01the one thing that can make a rotten log full of bugs an even better meal more bugs this is
28:09the fun
28:09part for us where we get to scatter all these delicious bugs without trying to get them on us
28:15and i'll put some roaches in this big one here so good they're actually all climbing inside
28:21but wait there's more we deal with a lot of poo so handling bugs like maggots is not the grossest
28:28thing we can do in our day all right one last spot this looks like a goodie
28:39all right moz what do we think she's gonna love it she's gonna be occupied for ages i can't wait
28:46to see
28:48she is mary the sun bear and it doesn't take long to find that first delicious log
28:58it's about to be ripped apart
29:03any second now
29:07nice okay well how about this one
29:16okay then
29:20in the wild most of a sun bear's day is actually spent foraging for insects
29:24that long tongue it is so precise she can target that exact insect she's looking for
29:32she won't pick up a leaf or dirt it's pretty impressive oh my gosh look at her go that's more
29:39like it mary oh my gosh those claws are getting a workout she's shredding right into them so this is
29:46exactly what she'd be doing in the wild exactly what we wanted from those logs i love when she gets
29:51like all frantic because like it's like a wave showing sort of excitement yeah yeah flipping them all
29:55over all those natural bear behaviors so good oh oh she just pushed it over the edge
30:04we're seeing some behaviors that we don't get to see from her every day
30:08so happy and playful i think she's living her best life today you know it can feel like a silly
30:14job to
30:15search for logs but to actually see the impact it's having on her and to be able to watch her
30:19now all
30:20afternoon having fun and ripping into them is so rewarding okay it's official folks mary the sun bear
30:28is now mary the fun bear oh so good she's gonna be busy for hours
30:36back at the wildlife hospital okay she's connected okay she's on one now are the sumatran tiger has
30:44been sedated for an important health check she's got a little blink let's turn her up but she isn't
30:50sleeping soundly so mawa's just got a little bit of a blink there a blink reflex is an indication to
30:57us that mawa is not sufficiently anaesthetized it's really important that we keep people safe and mawa
31:03safe i'm not going to move her until her blink goes away so no no so what we're going to
31:10do guys she's
31:11a little blink so we're just going to sit for here for a second before we move her
31:17moving is the thing that will stimulate her the most so let's just get her a little bit deeper
31:26her respiratory rate's gone up as well an elevated respiratory rate confirms that mawa isn't sleeping
31:34deeply enough okay she's lost the blink reflex she's taking nice breaths i'm happy to lift her up
31:43can i hop in here and i want to catch that leg so if we go one two three that's
31:52it thanks guys
31:54no blink okay we're going to spray her and then in your boat so mawa's just going to have a
32:00little bit
32:00of a spray on the back of her throat it's a local anaesthetic and it makes it much easier to
32:05pass the
32:06tube into her airway that we need to give her the anaesthetic gas and it's going to protect her airway
32:12pull the thing out yeah yeah pull pull pull yep that's it happy
32:22now that mawa is intubated and stable if you just give her regular breaths any vet frances can finally
32:30start today's procedures i'm just going to take the swab first this is mawa's first anaesthetic this
32:36will be the first time since she was a tiny little cub that we've actually been able to do a
32:41physical
32:42examination occasionally the animal can look healthy but blood tests might show something like
32:48maybe the kidneys aren't working very well or maybe the liver's not working very well so we'll do a
32:53series of blood tests i'm going to do 12 mils in this syringe the results of these tests will determine
33:00if this critically endangered tiger can be transferred to the usa to join a selective breeding program
33:08once i've got this blood i'm going to aim to do the x-rays and we'll do the lateral x
33:13-rays first
33:14tammy yeah it's an exclusive club and not every tiger that's selected will pass on my count of three
33:23she's going towards tammy and jess by about 15 centimeters one two three okay now we're going to
33:31lift her up onto her back it's difficult moving her around for those different x-ray views and so on
33:37she's a big tiger everyone out x-ray okay
33:49line on
33:55okay
34:02over at the taronga institute of love at the moment penny's over here exploring
34:13and spud is over in this area keeper susie has arranged a blind date for two of australia's most
34:22vulnerable marsupials
34:26so far it's not going so great
34:31for penny this is going to be exciting on a number of levels because it's a new environment for her
34:39and she's probably going to be more focused on checking out her surroundings finding good places
34:44for her to hide to set up her nest the spud this is the first time he's ever been in
34:49with a female
34:50other than his mum you know the new exciting thing in the room is penny
35:01he might be sort of sniffing where penny has already been
35:08he might be a little bit over excited you know the first smell of a female pheromone he's got to
35:14yeah figure out the logistics i'm just going to go grab some peanuts
35:23come look i've got a very special treat for you both
35:30lovely peanut butter smears maybe a little snack will do the trick
35:38i want to have a close look and see what they're actually doing
35:43they're right now having a drink together at the back going between eating food but also then
35:48checking in on each other and having a sniff
35:51and she's actually being really receptive to him
35:57she's lifting her tail up so that he can actually mount her he's actually on top of her happy days
36:07he's giving it his best shot
36:11almost buddy
36:14might take him a few goes to figure out
36:16how it all works he might be a little bit over excited i think he's he's trying
36:24yeah maybe we should give them a bit of privacy
36:30next door in the wildlife hospital everyone out
36:36now are the sumatran tiger's chances of traveling with her twin to america
36:41to join an exclusive breeding program x-ray okay all depend on her passing today's health check
36:50so we want to make sure that she's grown up with everything in the right place we need to know
36:54that
36:55she's in tip-top shape her stomach with a bit of gas in it we need to know that she
36:59doesn't have
36:59anything sub-clinical which means from the outside she looks okay but on the inside there's something
37:05going on underneath uh i don't see anything there that's abnormal i'm gonna put an iv into a cephalic
37:13sure yep so she's clipped and she's for trainee vet nurse jess this is a pretty special way to kick
37:20off her new career it's just really exciting my first day doing a vet nursing traineeship and we're
37:25doing a tiger have another listen because you can actually hear her breathe and hear a heart who
37:32would have thought it's yeah blowing my mind so have a listen there and you'll see what i mean by
37:38all the chitter chatter in the room and this
37:44that's so much harder to hear than with an esophageal yeah
37:53so cool what we're doing right now is a physical examination so we want to make sure
37:59we know if she's got any wounds or injuries or anything like that there's nothing tamara
38:04not nothing in particular that you guys are concerned about with her no we would like to
38:10just do a little body score yeah yes i'd give her uh probably a two and a half it's pretty
38:16good
38:16two and a half to three body condition score out of five today's really special because it's so rare
38:22to get an opportunity to get up close to these animals in our care if time permits we take the
38:27opportunity to get a little paw print um it's a way for the keepers that take care of these animals
38:36to sort of have a little memento of them and it's really special um it's really special
38:47means a lot to us and sometimes we just put them up in our office so that the whole team
38:53can
38:53you know enjoy them and it's especially animals like malware that may be moving to another zoo you
38:59know it's a nice little memory of her she's a very special cat
39:10next we have been waiting patiently judgment day has arrived we just received news time to see if
39:19these big cats really can fly it's been two weeks since spud met penny in a potteroo blind date and
39:31the
39:31first couple of days it was a bit touch and go but after sort of getting to know each other
39:35and calming
39:35down a little bit we actually have seen a lot of mating from spud and just recently keeper susie has
39:43noticed even more changes bud in the past sort of week isn't melting her as much great signs that
39:50potentially there was a successful mating fingers crossed in around three or four months we're going
39:56to have some little potteroo joeys well turns out our little spud really is a stud
40:07at the taronga wildlife hospital one
40:10two three today's health check on malware the sumatran tiger is done
40:19all her x-rays look great there's nothing to see on those you're ready ladies
40:25her physical exam was all fine she doesn't have any abnormalities that we can see like that we do now
40:31have all the blood tests that we need to wait for the results so we'll get those back over the
40:36next
40:36couple of days and if they're all clear then she'll be ready to depart mower and her brother pemina
40:43are set to be transported to america to join an exclusive sumatran tiger breeding program
40:55as long as all their test results come back clear
41:00so um moa is back in her den now she's had her reversal drug and she's waking up from that
41:09she's
41:09actually doing really well well her eyes come right up blinking yeah twitching she's waking up what we
41:21do is try and stay away from her as much as possible so that she can have a nice smooth
41:25recovery without
41:27seeing a lot all of us there you're okay darling you're okay mama
41:46a few days later and while the tigers are blissfully unaware of their future
41:53their keepers haven't been quite so chilled we have been waiting patiently for the test results
42:01for our two tigers pemina and malware and we just received news the vets have given them both a full
42:09bill of health they absolutely passed all their tests with flying colors it's really wonderful for
42:16malware and pem to take this journey to the us and become a part of this global breeding program
42:22as sad as it is for us the keepers that have worked with both of them since the day they
42:28were born
42:28it's for the greater good it's for the genetic diversity worldwide for these beautiful endangered animals
42:34so
42:36you
42:38you
42:40you
