A closer look at how Aditya Dhar uses Rasputin in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' to transform a viral scene into layered storytelling.

00:03If you've seen Dharander 2 and heard this track, know this, it isn't just a vibe.
00:07It's rooted in history.
00:08The song draws directly from the life of Grigory Rasputin, famously known as the lover of Russia's queen.
00:15Rasputin wasn't born into power or privilege.
00:18He came from a remote Siberian village.
00:20Over time, he embedded himself within the Russian royal court,
00:23becoming one of the most mysterious and controversial figures in history.
00:27Rasputin was believed to possess healing abilities, particularly over the Zarevich, the heir to the throne,
00:33who suffered from hemophilia, a disorder that prevents blood from clotting normally.
00:37In moments where conventional medicine failed, Rasputin appeared to succeed.
00:41And that was enough.
00:42The Zarena, the Empress, began to trust him implicitly.
00:46His words carried weight, his presence became constant.
00:49And slowly, without ever holding formal office, he began influencing decisions at the highest level of governance.
00:55Ministers were appointed and dismissed at his command.
00:59Access to the royal family was filtered through him.
01:01Rasputin began to operate like a man who could not be removed.
01:05And that's when the decision was made to eliminate him entirely.
01:09The accounts of his assassination are almost mythic in how excessive they were.
01:13He was invited under the pretext of a meeting, offered food and wine laced with poison.
01:18But the poison didn't kill him.
01:20So they shot him, but he didn't die.
01:22He tried to get up, they shot him again.
01:24And when even that didn't seem enough, he was beaten and eventually thrown into an icy river.
01:29And what's interesting is this entire story didn't just remain history.
01:33It was retold through Bonnie M's 1978 classic Rasputin.
01:37Ra, ra, Rasputin.
01:39It sounds celebratory.
01:40Almost like a powerful ballad.
01:42In fact, the Soviet government banned the song in 1978 due to its cheeky take on the Sarist history.
01:48But coming back to Dharamdar, the scene featuring Madhavan actually shows you a man in absolute control.
01:54Maybe it's actually time to say peak detailing by Aditya Dhar.
01:58Long.
01:59Long.
