The full moon for the month of April is known as the Pink Moon. Although it won't really be the color pink, it's one of the best full moons of the spring season. AccuWeather's Anna Azallion explains.
Transcript
00:00The pink moon rises April 1st, but it's not actually pink.
00:03Here's why you still want to watch, though.
00:04It rises just after sunset, low on the horizon, looking bigger and glowing golden.
00:09The name comes from spring wildflowers, though, especially phlox.
00:12They bloom in soft pink shades this time of year.
00:15Other nicknames for April's full moon include the frog moon, the sugar maker moon, and the breaking ice moon.
00:19The best time to catch a glimpse is just after 10 p.m. Eastern time,
00:23and even without the pink, it's still one of the best full moons of the spring.
