00:00You know, watching his game, his breakout plays are right on cue a lot of times.
00:05He understands, you know, where the puck's got to go.
00:08I think sometimes it's a safer play.
00:09Sometimes it's a real option to get the puck into the middle
00:13and make a nice play up the middle.
00:14But I'm well aware of all of the stats.
00:17We have coaches that have even talked about it.
00:19We have discussions on our group, and can we change a piece
00:23with all the D-man we have?
00:25But some of his stats are just incredible.
00:30Lindy Ruff the other day on Zach Metza.
00:33First prize, a Cadillac Eldorado.
00:35Second prize, a set of steak knives.
00:37Third prize is you're going to Rochester.
00:38Sorry, kid.
00:39You have a theory?
00:43My guess would be that there's news today about Osland being injured.
00:49We don't know how seriously, but he missed practice
00:52and was being evaluated for an upper body injury.
00:55I didn't see, and I haven't seen any footage of, like, you know,
01:01where we think it happened, what it might be, that kind of thing.
01:03That often does happen.
01:05But I haven't seen any of that.
01:07So I don't know what we're talking about.
01:08Head injury, shoulder, whatever, with Osland.
01:11But if that is going to be even a little bit of time, a week,
01:17maybe they want to make room for somebody.
01:19Greenway seems like he might be ready to go.
01:22So they might have needed a roster spot,
01:24and Metza is still someone who can go freely up and down.
01:28So from a convenience standpoint, but I'm totally cool with, like,
01:36you know, slow playing him.
01:38We've got to see what Timmons gives us.
01:40Everything we talked about yesterday, like, they've got –
01:43I think Metza is in the lineup for game one of the playoffs, myself.
01:46Still?
01:47This sort of gets in the way of that.
01:50I'm not – I want to say I hope so,
01:53and that this is just for the time being because they needed a spot.
01:56I want to say that.
01:58But I don't know.
02:00I think everything we talked about yesterday was just –
02:02they're going to try Timmons.
02:03I think they know what they have in Metza.
02:05He can play with the big four if they need him.
02:07He can stabilize Stanley and be a good third-pair guy.
02:10And I think he's in the lineup when they get to the playoffs.
02:13And now 24 hours later, he's sent down.
02:16I hope it's just – yeah, it's, you know, convenient.
02:19You can go up and down freely, so we're going to use that on you.
02:24I didn't notice an Oslin injury, but I did –
02:27I think I noticed at least one, even two Sabres players
02:30in the course of last night's game leave
02:32because they were cut on their face.
02:34I don't know exactly what happened to Byram.
02:36There was no penalty on either one.
02:40Byram left the ice, spiked his helmet down,
02:43and went down the tunnel in the first period.
02:46Came back at the end of the first period.
02:48Okay.
02:48You know that one?
02:49I did not.
02:50Okay.
02:51I think they mentioned on the broadcast
02:53that he had left for some time but was back.
02:55Something went wrong there.
02:57I think maybe he was clipped, but I don't know.
02:59Yeah, I don't know.
02:59And then Carrick got clipped.
03:01Oh, I didn't catch that.
03:02Oh, yeah.
03:03His mouth was cut.
03:04He might have lost a tooth.
03:05I don't know, but in the second or third, that was,
03:09and he did not go down the tunnel.
03:12He took the backup goalie seat
03:13and sat sort of like facing the other players on the bench,
03:17and they worked on him.
03:18And then he was right back out there.
03:20I thought I watched every second of this game.
03:22I don't know how I would have missed that.
03:23Maybe they didn't mention it.
03:25It's possible that they didn't.
03:27I don't know.
03:30It's TNT.
03:31If they don't tell you, it's hard to know that it happened.
03:34You kind of need to see somebody who needs to show you on things like that.
03:39There's no penalty on either one.
03:40Right.
03:41Yeah, I didn't see anything with Carrick,
03:43and it's possible that I should give myself a pass
03:46because maybe it wasn't shown.
03:47I don't know.
03:48Yeah, I would if I were you.
03:49I wouldn't beat myself up over it.
03:51I'm here.
03:52I was there.
03:53I saw it.
03:53I tried to be the person in my section that was paying attention.
03:59That's going to be a challenge.
04:00That's how I am.
04:01I'd like to be the one to pay attention.
04:02My daughter wasn't really watching too closely
04:04and a lot of noise around me.
04:06So, boy, I mean, can I bring this up again?
04:09Unbelievable character.
04:11There's no – I don't want to sound like a snob here
04:13because I feel like if you are at a game and you're super into it,
04:19there are boundaries, but that's fine.
04:22Like, hockey, sports needs fans like that.
04:26And so, bring the energy.
04:29Bring all of it.
04:30Bring your voice, you know?
04:32Like, I know that's not me.
04:35When Benson scored, it was me.
04:38When Zucker made it 3-2, it was me.
04:40You heard me then.
04:41Right.
04:41But really, most of the time, it's sort of just watching it.
04:44Mm-hmm.
04:44And I'm not telling anybody that that's how it has to be.
04:48Like, you be you as a fan.
04:49I'm fine with people being boisterous.
04:51Right.
04:51I'm very rarely going to be that person.
04:54But, yeah, you want – yeah, I want that.
04:56I want – same.
04:57I endorse everything you just said.
04:58Yes.
04:58I do think maybe this is just getting older.
05:01There should be language, common sense, language limits that aren't really followed.
05:05Yeah.
05:06Especially when, like, a kid is sitting right in front of you or next to you.
05:09Yeah.
05:09But, anyway, I mean, I'm not the cops.
05:12But, man, I tell you, this guy I drew last night next to me was unbelievable.
05:18I mean, he did get there with the language.
05:21He had enough that by the end of the night, he was rolling.
05:27He's also one of these guys –
05:28He was a big guy.
05:29I never saw the armrest on my left the whole night.
05:32Like, I'm very careful about my space.
05:34I want to make sure, like, I'm in my space.
05:36This guy was not into that at all.
05:38He was into my space, too.
05:39I didn't take it as a compliment.
05:43And just – I mean, he was – I tried to describe it to my wife.
05:47He was awesome, aggressive, super high energy, loud, unmissable.
05:56And, okay.
05:58I mean, you don't – you get who you get.
06:00Yep.
06:00I mean, it's just fine.
06:02Because, good, that's not me.
06:04So, okay.
06:06But there were definitely times – I thought maybe he was pretty far gone when the Bruins
06:13scored in overtime and he got up and screamed thinking it was the Sabres who had scored.
06:16Yeah, I was going to say, this is that same guy, right?
06:18You mentioned this earlier, that the gentleman near you did not know that the Sabres had just
06:22lost the game.
06:23For a split second, I thought maybe I was mistaken that there was a save.
06:28Why are the Bruins pouring out out of the ice if that happened?
06:31I was confused for like a half second.
06:32Yeah.
06:33So, anyway, fun night.
06:35It's great in there now.
06:36It is great in there now.
06:37You all know it if you're going at all or just watching, even you can tell.
06:41It is like – my son sat on the other side of the building.
06:44We were talking in the car about just like – this is new to you guys.
06:48Yeah.
06:48And dad is getting up and whooping after goals.
06:52Right.
06:52All right?
06:52You don't know this dad.
06:53Right.
06:54There's juice here that you just have not squeezed ever.
06:57Like it's just like –
06:58Not in their lifetimes.
06:59Right.
06:59Right.
07:00So, that's awesome.
07:02I did notice that – you could tell there were some Bruins fans in the building on TV,
07:08I would say.
07:08Yep.
07:09But not – right, but not over – not annoyingly so, right?
07:14But I did notice a few – you know, I guess I would say more than I guess I was
07:19expecting.
07:19At least maybe they were just in the right spots for the TV cameras.
07:22I don't know.
07:23But I noticed them a couple of times during the game.
07:26Again, that's one where, in our defense, we're selling those tickets a long time ago, maybe.
07:35Yeah.
07:35Just to save ourselves because for so many years in a row, the end of the season is like negative
07:43EV.
07:43It's not even that the games don't matter.
07:46It's just that the feeling of misery compounds that, and it's just like I don't even want to go.
07:53And you can't sell tickets those years for the end of the season.
07:57Right.
07:57So, I think when it's Boston or Montreal – and that's kind of it.
08:01Well, Detroit could be this a little bit tomorrow too.
08:03But these are games when I had tickets that I could have sold in November.
08:08And this year would have still been – it would have felt like another one of those years.
08:13It did to me, yeah.
08:14Let me just try to salvage this.
08:17And if people want to plan out four months ahead and buy tickets, then okay, I'm fine with that.
08:22So, I think maybe it would be different if two months went by and then you were faced with the
08:29same sort of decision.
08:30Maybe now you hold on to them.
08:32Detroit tomorrow and then – I don't know.
08:34We talked about it.
08:35We ran it down yesterday.
08:35No one else on the home schedule is like a rival team that you'd expect a big –
08:41Yeah, Islanders fans do not travel.
08:42Islanders, Columbus.
08:44That's not something you would really be thinking about.
08:46Dallas is the last game.
08:47Right.
08:48A couple others in there.
08:49Who else is it?
08:50Do you know?
08:51I don't have it down yet.
08:52Well, that Tampa game.
08:53Tampa, of course.
08:54That's right.
08:55But the rest, I'm not positive.
08:57There's one more that we didn't mention and that is Seattle.
09:02Okay.
09:02On Saturday.
09:03Right.
09:045.30, I think.
09:055.30 on Saturday.
09:06Different time.
09:07Yep, yep.
09:08Paul will join us at five.
09:09What does the Meza move mean?
09:12Heading to Rochester.
09:14Interesting.
09:15The Sabres have all this depth on the blue line and they're – looks like trying to figure
09:20out the optimal set of combinations last night with Timmons and maybe your theory holds water.
09:29Adding a spot for Greenway, maybe needing a forward.
09:32Because there are, what, three defensemen?
09:34Yep.
09:34Is there already an update?
09:35Well, my theory takes a hit.
09:37Chad DeNaminis has sent me a DM and I appreciate this from Chad.
09:40There's no roster limits anymore, so they don't need to open up roster spots.
09:45So, I don't know.
09:47Maybe that's just we want you to keep playing.
09:50And we're going to try these other guys out for the time being.
09:53Yep.
09:54And, boy, I just – I hope they sent him down there with, don't worry, you'll be back.
09:59Because he should be in the lineup.
10:01Paul's analysis coming up at 5.
10:03Lines open at 8.03, 05.50.
10:05Mike Schoep and the Bulldog, WG.
