00:00The biggest event yesterday, I honestly wonder this, what do you think was a bigger deal yesterday?
00:05Ohio State's Pro Day with four projected top ten players, or the Yankees-Giants opening night?
00:11Ohio State's Pro Day.
00:13I agree, dude.
00:14When you got four projected top ten picks, you got the whole football world there,
00:19and the sports world, like, they got how many people going in the first ten?
00:24If you got a chance for all four of those guys to go,
00:26and looking at the athletic ability of a Sonny Stiles, okay, you got Tate,
00:32and all these different guys up here now, you're going to have to really, really have some eyes on that.
00:39So I think that was bigger than that, I mean, than the Yankees opening day.
00:43So the other part of this is there was some question with Caleb Downs about his health, right?
00:49Caleb Downs, if you look at just coverage from NFL Network all over social media,
00:56the word was Caleb Downs looked 100% healthy and was really, really elite at the Ohio State Pro Day.
01:05Okay.
01:05Cardinal Tate, same thing.
01:09There's a clip that I think – I know this young man, Ryan Fowler.
01:14I don't know if you know him, B.
01:16I got to be honest, I don't know how I know him, but I've met him before.
01:19I almost wonder if he worked – I think he worked for the Skins.
01:22I don't think he worked for us at NBC, but –
01:24Ryan Fowler?
01:25Yeah, do you recognize that picture?
01:28Nah.
01:29So I have seen him in Indy, like at the Combine.
01:33Like, he puts a lot of work in, and I give him credit for that.
01:38A lot of stuff specifically with the draft.
01:40Yesterday he reported that Cardinal Tate has a visit coming with the Skins,
01:44as well as Giants, Chiefs, Saints, Titans, all the teams kind of –
01:47Those are all top ten teams.
01:49It all makes sense, right?
01:50Yeah.
01:50He posted this picture, though, of kind of a D-line drill
01:57where you're supposed to bend around the corner, right?
01:59And the idea is to show the bend.
02:02And this picture went super viral because he compared it with Reuben Bain from Miami,
02:10who's a bigger guy, and Bain's able to get way lower.
02:15Now, here's the actual rep, right?
02:17Let's see if we can get this to work.
02:19But Arbel Reese has not really played much edge.
02:24He probably hasn't done many D-line drills.
02:26So when you see Reuben Bain getting that low, one, it should tell you a lot about Bain.
02:34Like, you should be excited about the player he is.
02:36He's bendy.
02:37But if you watch the tape, he could do that.
02:40Like, we saw that in game play.
02:44This has basically gone viral because of how bad it looks for Arbel Reese.
02:49But the whole thing about it is Arbel Reese is not that guy at this point, okay?
02:53He does a lot more things than just go around the edge.
02:58And if he's just learning it, he's not going to have the drill down pat.
03:03But he can.
03:05He'll learn that.
03:06I think that's the problem with things.
03:08I just saw this interview because I was going to use John.
03:12John was sitting there talking with Kevin Garnett on a deal, and he was like –
03:16John Wall, you're saying?
03:17No, no, John Thompson.
03:19Oh, wow.
03:19So, you know what I always say, John, say don't let people judge you on sound clips of your life?
03:24Right.
03:24That's one rep of something that he's going to be doing 20, 30, 40, 50 reps a day.
03:32He'll be totally different when it comes around to it.
03:34And there is one thing about the NFL, and I want that dude to understand.
03:39The NFL is all about potential, okay?
03:42If they believe you could potentially be the best at something, they're going to give you a shot.
03:47Hands down, point blank.
03:48For sure.
03:51The four top prospects from Ohio State, Caleb Downs, Carnell Tate, Arbel Reese, and Sonny Stiles.
04:01What would your order be if you were able to get – if you only get to draft those four
04:06players, what would your order be?
04:10You say Downs, Tate, Reese, Stiles.
04:15And Stiles.
04:19I'd probably go Tate, Downs, Stiles, Reese.
04:25You're saying right now for Washington.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Would that be different if it was just you're building a team?
04:31If I'm just building – if I'm building a team and Reese is the guy that I'm going to project
04:38as my outside pass rusher, I'll take him first.
04:42Then I would go with – I still go with Tate then.
04:46Then Downs, then Stiles.
04:49If I'm just building a team, I think I go Downs.
04:54I think I go Downs, Reese, Stiles, Tate.
04:56I understand.
04:57But, like, for me, I want my person that's going to be hitting the quarterback in the back of the
05:01head.
05:02That's my first guy.
05:03You hit a quarterback in the back of the head?
05:05That's a flag, dog.
05:05Whatever.
05:06He gets tackled, he gets tackled.
05:07But, for me, listen, man, I am not going to put a safety ahead of a defensive man ever.
05:19Okay?
05:20And when I look at Stiles, although he is super athletic, they still are confused about what position he's going
05:27to play.
05:27So, when I start getting tweeners and stuff like that, that kind of bothers me a little bit.
05:32I agree, dude.
05:33I like Reese a lot, but there is a question kind of where it goes.
05:41I think, though, if you're building a team, Reese is by far the biggest upside play.
05:47Right.
05:47Like, it's a bit of a lottery ticket, but if it hits, you might have somebody in, like, the Micah
05:53Parsons conversation.
05:55That's what I'm saying.
05:55So, sometimes what you do is this.
05:58I'm going to go to the guy that's going to make an impact on others.
06:01So, Reese, being a guy who, they're saying he can be that outside pass rusher, but he's super athletic as
06:09well.
06:10If I got a guy that I believe could do the most important position other than quarterback on a football
06:15field at a high level, that's super athletic, I'm giving that a shot before anybody else.
06:20Now, for Washington, you think Tate?
06:51Yeah.
06:53That's how the NFL plays it.
06:54Right.
06:54That's how the rules are set up and established.
06:56And that's where the money is.
06:57So, that's where I would be looking at it right now.
07:00You know?
07:01Now, Stiles was great in all the things he did over at the combine.
07:09But I don't – when you are kind of questioning where I'm going to put him, you confuse yourself sometimes.
07:19You know what I mean?
07:20Right.
07:20I want somebody who I know can do one damn thing outstanding, not somebody that can do everything at a
07:26high level.
07:27You know, because he's not doing it.
07:29If he's not doing anything outstanding, that's the problem to me.
07:32For sure.
07:32As athletic as he is, what does he do great, though?
07:36Don't tell me, oh, you saw his 40?
07:38I don't care what guys do in T-shirt and panties.
07:41I care what you do when you put on those damn shoulder pads.
07:44But we had Bucky Brooks join us yesterday.
07:46If you missed any of that interview, I'd go to the Odyssey app or the Spotify, wherever you get your
07:50podcasts.
07:51And I'm sure it's up on YouTube as well.
07:53But Bucky Brooks yesterday was talking about why he kind of leans towards Caleb Downs.
08:00Bucky watches more tape than the rest of us combined.
08:03You know what I mean?
08:04And I think Bucky did a really good job breaking down kind of why he's in the Caleb Downs camp
08:10for Washington.
08:11I'll say this.
08:12Mansoor Delaney is a terrific player.
08:14He's a high-level player.
08:15He's an A player on the board.
08:18You can take him and put him on the outside.
08:20But I don't know if he's going to impact the game more than a guy that is doing it in
08:24the middle of the field.
08:25And for the longest time, safeties have been undervalued, much like running backs, in terms of what they bring to
08:31the table.
08:32But if you have a dominant player, let's just go back to Sean Taylor and the brief impact that he
08:37had on the Washington franchise when he was there.
08:39When you have an A-level safety, it changes everything because they can go in the box and act as
08:46an additional linebacker.
08:48They play in the deep middle and be the center fielder that you want.
08:51They just have the ability to do so much.
08:54I would lean towards Caleb Downs versus Delaney in that scenario.
08:58But I would understand if the commanders are like, man, we didn't get it from Lattimore.
09:02We haven't gotten an elite corner on that spot in a long time.
09:06We need one to be able to match up, particularly against our division, A.J. Brown, Devontae Smith, C.D.
09:13Lamb, George Pickens.
09:15You need one.
09:16So it comes down to who can we get the greatest impact.
09:19I like Downs better as a player, but I would understand if Delaney is the choice.
09:24Yeah.
09:25So that, I see him comparing the safety in the corner.
09:29And I think if you feel that high about Downs, what you have right now with Amos, okay, and guys
09:41you've signed, Amik Robertson, still having Mikey there.
09:44If you feel that good about Downs, I think right now you can make it happen.
09:48I ask this question to you.
09:51Downs is Downs on Sean Taylor's level.
09:55Like I hear what he's saying, what Bucky is saying, but Sean Taylor was a man child sitting in the
10:01middle.
10:02Sean Taylor had people ducking their hands when they left the line of scrimmage.
10:06So I wonder does he have that type of influence and effect on a receiver?
10:12Because if you got that, that guy that's doing this is concerned by the guy coming over to tattoo him.
10:20Listen, Sean is, I think, one of one, right?
10:23And who knows what his ceiling would have been, who knows where his career would have gone.
10:28But one significant difference just on the surface level with Downs and some of these other elite safeties, he doesn't
10:36have the size.
10:37Like when you watch Sean Taylor go through warm-ups, he didn't look like he fit in with the defense.
10:41He looked like he's supposed to be with the damn pass rushers.
10:43Right, because he was 6'2", probably 235.
10:46No, no, no, 6'3", plus.
10:47They listed him at 6'2", 231.
10:50I'd take the over on both of those.
10:52Yes.
10:52And Downs, I think, is listed at 6'2", Bills.
10:56Like the size of Taylor, his ability to run at that size, but just looking at the two guys getting
11:02off the bus, Sean's going to stand out.
11:05Yeah.
11:05And I don't think that should be a surprise.
11:07He flashed all-time great potential.
11:11You know what I mean?
11:11Like it was a shooting star.
11:12I'm just saying, the thing about Sean, man, I watched that dude in a Green Bay game, interceptions and all.
11:18Yep.
11:19Then you watch, I watch receivers come out of the break, and they're supposed to be looking here.
11:25They go, where is he?
11:28Okay, and then they come back and they miss the football.
11:30He just did a different influence.
11:32So, it's Downs on more of the size of an Ed Reed.
11:37Okay, and then again, Ed Reed just had a knack.
11:40I don't know, when a big play needs to be made, Ed made the play.
11:43Sure.
11:44Palo Malo.
11:44So, when you're looking at a cornerback, I think a cornerback still, to me, gives you much more of a
11:54way of taking away.
11:56If I got a guy so good, he could take your number one receiver, and I don't have to worry
12:00about him no more,
12:01that is more effective than the guy sitting in the middle.
12:03So, Ed Reed was listed at 5'11", 205.
12:07So, that is more comparable to Caleb Downs.
12:10I just found this out.
12:12This is new information.
12:13What do you think me, Ed Reed, and Dan Quinn, and Ludacris all have in common?
12:19Same birthday?
12:20Same birthday.
12:20Who knew?
12:21And Tom Landry.
12:22Rest in peace.
12:23Yeah.
12:25I mean, God bet 75.
12:26I mean, .75 on that.
12:29He put three great ones at JP.
12:34How would you rank that of me, Dan Quinn, Luda, and Ed Reed?
12:41Luda.
12:43Ed Reed, Dan Quinn, and you.
12:45That's how I would have ranked it, too.
12:47The only real debate is Luda and Ed Reed.
12:50I think Luda made a little bit more chatter.
12:53Jeff, how would you?
12:53I'm not even saying money-wise.
12:55Just impact on society.
12:58Definitely, the way B said, everyone knows Luda.
13:02Like, music, it just transcends more.
13:05Move!
13:06Only the football heads know Ed Reed.
13:09Luda's also now made a second career as an actor.
13:12He's an actor as well.
13:13That's the Furious.
13:14Yeah, Luda killing it, dog.
13:15He lived the life.
13:16He went from DJ to rapper to actor.
13:18But I tell you what I love about him so much is, like, you know, if somebody make it and
13:23you get a lot of hang-alongs, he made sure all his boys got a trade and hired him.
13:29We're going to hang around each other.
13:31You're going to make your money.
13:32I'm paying you.
13:33But you're going to make money.
13:34You're not going to be just hanging around me spending no damn money.
13:36So, he was able to lift his friends and people from his community with him as he went.
13:42I respect the hell out of him for that.
13:44I respect that.
13:45You know what else I respect?
13:46He once dropped an album named Chicken and Beer.
13:49Those are things I'm into.
13:52You know what's interesting?
13:54If Adam Peters and DQ, they were at Pro Day yesterday in Columbus.
13:59Leaving there, I don't think they're getting Reese.
14:03I don't think Reese happens.
14:04I think the intrigue, the potential, I think he goes before they go, right?
14:09I think they would like Downs or Styles.
14:13Like, if that's how it ends up shaking out, I think they're quite happy with it.
14:32The projection is real.
14:35I think as an organization, if you could add love or you could add Tate,
14:40they would be extremely excited.
14:44I just don't
14:45What does your gut tell you
14:46Four weeks out from the NFL draft
14:49Does love get to them at seven
14:53Based on what I'm hearing
14:54I don't think so
14:56What about Tate
14:57I think that's very much a possibility
14:59You do think Tate's a possibility
