00:00The UN Refugee Agency is appealing for more funding as the Middle East conflict displaces millions of people.
00:08The head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Saleh,
00:12warns that the agency has received less than 10% of the funding it needs, limiting its ability to respond
00:19on the ground.
00:22Saleh warns global displacement is now at record levels with urgent needs for shelter, food and protection.
00:29Around 3.2 million people have been displaced inside Iran,
00:32while more than 1 million have fled their homes in Lebanon in recent weeks due to American and Israeli strikes.
00:39In total, the agency is appealing for US$69 million to support relief efforts across the region.
00:46But aid groups say funding has been hit by cuts from major donors,
00:50including the United States and several Western countries, as spending shifts towards defence.
