00:00Carla, do you want to jump in on that? Because what do you make of this absolute disaster that Cyrus
00:06says? Because of Israel. Because, you know, we don't forget that the US former counterterrorism director Joe Kent made a
00:15similar claim when he resigned, saying that the US was dragged into this because of Israel. Is it an absolute
00:22disaster?
00:22Well, so what Cyrus said, there are absolutely some points he's made that are valid. At the same time, I
00:31don't even want to give Joe Kent any airtime. He clearly wasn't up for the job and was getting very
00:40bad intel to say what he said while he was working for President Trump.
00:45But I will say President Trump did something that no US president has ever done, even though they've been talking
00:52about it ever since the revolutionaries took our American hostages and held them for over a year.
01:01This was in 1979. I remember it. But then I was in the Bush White House toward the end of
01:08his term when I asked his head of national security, are you going to take out the nuclear enrichment that
01:14Iran is working on?
01:15They were already working on the bomb. And this is at the end of the Bush administration, George W. Bush.
01:21He said, no, we're going to leave it for the next guys. I have to say that was so disappointing
01:26to me because at that moment was a plate with a time and that the the the Iranians were the
01:34mullets were vulnerable today.
01:36It's much harder. They have, you know, these mountains with buried everything, the trains, the rockets, the missiles.
01:43They're much more capable. So I'm actually grateful President Trump did what he did because they have been a menace,
01:50not just in the region, but in the world, right out of their embassies, the kill squads that they've had,
01:55the threats on people like President Trump or the fatwa.
01:58And then they tried to send assassination teams. This is all not normal.
02:03The world needs Iran to act like a normal country, take care of their people, put the water, you know,
02:10the water systems in place and not fund terrorism with the Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah.
02:16All of these terrorist proxies that they've been funding over the decades has been like a cancer in the region
02:22and also in the world.
02:23So I'm proud that President Trump has done what he's done. I actually think the work has gone really fast.
02:28But I do think that this is much harder than we thought it was going to be. And this is
02:34going to be an inflection point.
02:36Does he say, OK, we remove the head of the snake. We're going to work with an interim government, much
02:41like he did in Venezuela, and leave?
02:45Or is he going to dig in and then we could really see some real consequences?
02:50There's no question, though, that we have to have the Strait of Hormuz reopened and have energy and goods, but
02:57especially energy flowing once more from the region.
