00:00And let's talk a little bit about the nuclear program, because is the U.S. administration
00:05able to use the current crisis in Iran as leverage to force the country back to the
00:12nuclear negotiating table?
00:16Well, Mr. Trump is somebody who is quite prepared to do deals, sometimes rather surprising ones,
00:22with people he dislikes. But he wants a deal. He doesn't want a return to the negotiating table.
00:28And Iran has a long history of trying to drag out negotiations for many months.
00:34And that's not something that Trump likes at all.
00:37So you think a possible deal could be on the horizon?
00:42Probably not, because this would require Khamenei to agree to suspend important parts of Iran's
00:49nuclear program. And Khamenei is somebody who thinks that making a deal like that puts Iran
00:57on a slippery slope towards having to make more and more concessions. And he is by no means convinced
01:03that the United States will change its hostility towards the Islamic Republic because of these
01:08concessions. So Khamenei is not happy with the idea of a deal. And Trump is insistent that if
01:17the pressure is going to be relieved on Iran, there has to be a deal. Well, this is hard to reconcile.
