00:05Today we're at our Southern Warthog exhibit and we're seeing our newest little piglets.
00:09They were born June 5th. There are four little piglets, three boys and one girl. So at this
00:15time we have nine pigs in this exhibit and they're all one family group and they're all
00:19doing great together. Orkeema, the mom, is a great mom and she's nursing these four little
00:29babies whenever they want. And there's four of them that are hungry all the time and they're
00:33very busy. They're also starting to pick up and try and taste new little food items and
00:38they're digging around in the dirt and you know experimenting a lot.
00:47So you see the little piglets fighting with each other. That's actually play. It's kind
00:52of like a king of the hill kind of game. They just are really active and really busy and
00:56keeping each other in line.
01:10Warthogs are really fascinating animals. When you see the little kids, you see them playing
01:14and running and stuff, they're really quick. Adults can run up to 30 miles an hour and stop
01:19on a dime. And when they're running, their little tails are in the air. And you see that with
01:22the piglets too. So they're lots of fun to watch.
01:30Both the males and females have tusks and they use those to root. So you'll see them rooting
01:34around. They'll be down on their knees and it just gives them more force. They have a really
01:38good sense of smell. So they can smell the food underground that they might want to eat.
01:42They're omnivores. So they eat roots and shoots and fruits and vegetables and anything they
01:46can get their mouths on really.
01:57The greatest thing about warthogs, they have great personalities. They're really good to
02:00their families. The kids are fun and some people think they're not the most attractive creatures.
02:04But look at those babies. Come on, how cute are they?
