00:07We're here at the San Diego Zoo and we're doing our weekly weigh-in and check-in of our koala
00:12moms with their new baby joeys just to make sure that everyone's growing and doing well like they
00:17should be. So we need to get some weights today. Okay, who do we need? We need Tonalia, Cambie,
00:25and their joeys. We weigh all of our koalas once a week and it's just really important for us to
00:30make
00:30sure that they're growing like they should be, especially with the joeys when they're so young.
00:34And it also gives us an opportunity to get a good up-close look at them and make sure everything
00:38is okay. To get the weights on the koala moms and their joeys, we have to get them down from
00:45their
00:46spot. We try to keep it as quick as possible so that nobody gets stressed out. And we have to
00:51basically take mom and joey down at the same time. We just basically grab mom and baby,
00:57quickly weigh mom without baby, and then we just put baby back on mom's back and then we get the
01:01weight on the joey that way. All right, mom is 5.26. Oh my gosh, you're a monster. So big.
01:161.13. Their weights are doing really well. The weights from this morning went up just like they
01:23should.
01:42So Tonalea's joey is named Burra, which means big fella, which is very appropriate because he's a
01:47little bit bigger than the other joey. And then Camby's joey is named Cody, which means boy, since
01:53they're both boys. So that's a good name for him. Sometimes our koala joeys do try to switch moms or
02:00they'll go to the other mom for a little bit and we'll always make sure that eventually they get back
02:04to their proper mom. But they like to explore and they like to experience new things. Our joeys are pretty
02:10much out all the time now. So it's a really good time to come. They're getting a lot more
02:14independent. So we're seeing a lot more movement from them. They're starting to eat eucalyptus. So
02:19it's a really exciting thing to come and see along with all the other koalas that we have here at
02:23the zoo.
