Floodwaters have surged through Katherine as a long-running cyclone continued its path across Australia, with fears the already-hit town could face another round of inundation.

00:29after the Catherine River surged back toward major flood levels.
00:34The town had only just been hit earlier this month, when the river peaked at 19.2 metres,
00:41well above the 17.5 metre major flood mark.
00:46Now residents faced an anxious wait as water levels rose again, with authorities warning
00:52of further isolation and damage.
00:55The system, which has already crossed Queensland and the Northern Territory, is now expected
01:01to intensify again before making another landfall in Western Australia.
