00:02Sunshine in flood affected Catherine but still the river refusing to drop.
00:07After warnings were downgraded on Monday, today locals waking to fresh information from forecasters.
00:14This time predicting Catherine River could reach major flood levels on Wednesday.
00:19As you can imagine, people in Catherine will be very concerned.
00:23This has been a huge roller coaster for them and we continue to be monitoring very, very closely.
00:28Local hero volunteer Ben Hockey taking a breath.
00:33A sandbag signed by fellow volunteers.
00:35A touching way to mark the end of an intense few weeks.
00:39It's actually been probably a life changing sort of thing.
00:44It's not every day you get to be in the middle of seeing a community come together.
00:50But with the river still rising, the danger isn't quite over yet.
00:54I think there's mixed feelings.
00:56So the river's not yet peaked.
00:59Flood prone pockets of the community once again at risk of becoming cut off.
01:04Those creeks come up and down reasonably quickly.
01:07So, you know, that means that people on Gorge Road potentially won't be able to either get home or come
01:13back into town.
01:14Even if the Catherine River reaches major flood level, forecasters are confident it won't reach heights which saw homes and
01:22businesses inundated earlier this month.
01:25While the community is desperate to return to life as usual, for now many are still taking precautions.
01:32We'll probably wait till tomorrow, just till we get the all clear.
01:35After losing tens of thousands in stock and equipment, George Picos has been forced to keep the doors of his
01:42business closed in case of a second round of flooding.
01:45You've got your loss of all your stock, equipment, what not, and then also loss of income.
01:50So all that does pile up to be significant.
01:52He says small businesses are desperate for extra relief, available payments for individuals and families not enough to cover their
01:59losses.
02:00Every little bit does help, but yes obviously not enough, nowhere near enough.
02:04Local member Jo Hersey said she has appealed to the federal government for help.
02:09In the coming days I think there will be more to say on support for businesses.
02:13Counting their losses as the wait for the all clear drags on.
02:19I'm gone.
02:21Here's the question.
02:21We can stop being tuned.
02:21Here we are.
02:22We can stop being tuned with the new parts to finish off the map.
02:22Let's go.
02:22Here we are.
02:22We can stop being tuned.
02:22Okay, let's see.
02:22We'll see you next time.
