00:28In Nau U on the Daly River, flooding is the worst in recorded history, with levels still rising.
00:35Across the region, more than 800 people remain in evacuation centres in Catherine, Mataranka and Darwin.
00:44An anxious wait for residents of Nau U and Palumpa who've spent six days in those centres and are no
00:50closer to knowing when they can return home.
00:53This will be a really prolonged flood event.
00:55In Catherine, the river now receding, but 196 homes still without power.
01:02Residents facing a massive clean up, which the mayor says is too big for the town to handle alone.
01:07They are broken and they are devastated. We have ADF personnel here in our Catherine community who have been coming
01:16in and volunteering and helping people.
01:18But I know that they would very much like the opportunity to put their uniforms on, come into town and
01:24stand side by side with us.
01:26But so far, no requests from government.
01:29To date we have been able to rely on our hard working volunteers and emergency responders in the Catherine area.
01:37With a forecast for thunderstorms, more heavy rain and the potential for further river rise, the question now, how long
01:45volunteers can keep the momentum.
