00:12When you're creating a score from scratch
00:14you have a blank canvas
00:15and anything is possible.
00:17With Demon's Souls it was a little bit different challenge.
00:19We already had a score
00:21and it was a great score that Kida-san
00:23had written.
00:25So the challenge that's there is to be true
00:27to that material and to
00:29make the re-imagination of that score
00:31be true to the original composer's
00:33intent.
00:36We try to deconstruct
00:37the original material first.
00:39Kind of have to pick and choose the elements
00:41and most of the time what stays is
00:43the melody, the themes.
00:45That is where I start.
00:49The lore of the game really does help
00:51in the creation of the score.
00:53So we've worked with the director of the game
00:55and Gavin Moore on the lore of each character
00:58and each boss.
00:59There's a certain, I think, somberness
01:01in Demon's Souls.
01:02So knowing that was very important to us
01:05as we're making musical decisions about
01:07how those characters are going to be
01:09reflected in the music.
01:16Certainly Bloodborne has informed this project
01:18to some extent in terms of the scale of the sound
01:22and the combination of choir and orchestra.
01:26Although it is important to say this score
01:27has its own identity and its own sound.
01:31The Demon's Souls score has colors of the orchestra
01:35that are predominant.
01:36big strings, big brass, big choir
01:39and we've also included a live pipe organ
01:42which is really unique to this score.
01:44We went to Temple Church here in London.
01:47There's a beautiful organ there
01:49and we were just so privileged to be able to use that
01:51and include that on the score.
01:53It can't help but inspire us.
01:56It has a sort of instant emotional connection for people,
01:59this idea of something big and ancient
02:01but also timeless.
02:02It's sort of based on the idea of an ancient religious music
02:06that really helps define the genre of the score.
02:14It's a pretty scary thing to think about
02:16that there are hundreds of thousands of fans out there
02:19waiting for this game to be released.
02:21They didn't know that this music is being reworked.
02:23We have one of the best teams in the world
02:26and in the industry of video games
02:28so I think we've come pretty far in terms of the size
02:31and the canvas and the texture of the whole score
02:34but the soul of the music that's in the original game
02:38is still there.
02:39We hope the fans really love it.
02:46No, you can do it.
02:48Let's go in.
03:03Grazie a tutti.
