00:10He warns of mounting risk to the country's energy security
00:14and urge state institutions to lead by example by reducing the use of private vehicles.
00:22Energy Minister Kim Song-hwan told a cabinet meeting
00:25that while restrictions on private cars remain voluntary for now,
00:29they could be reviewed if the emergency level is raised.
00:33The public is being encouraged to follow a 12-point energy conservation plan.
00:38This includes taking shorter showers, shifting the use of heavy appliances to weekends
00:43and charging devices during the day.
00:46To offset the impact of the crisis, Seoul is preparing to draft a supplementary budget
00:51of 25 trillion won or nearly 16 billion US dollars,
00:56which is expected to include cash vouchers for consumers
00:59and financial support for companies.
