00:05Operation Steel Wave is advancing on Rainbow Six Siege, bringing a new attacker named Ace,
00:11who throws sequentially exploding hard breach gadgets that create small, medium, and large problems for defenders.
00:19The new defender, Malusi, deploys Banshee devices to hum angrily at any attackers in range
00:25and slow their movement speed, giving them some problems of their own.
00:30But if the sound you hear as you approach the objective is less of a hum and more of a
00:35beep,
00:36then you've tripped the new secondary gadget, the Proximity Alarm.
00:40A defender will be with you shortly.
00:44Take a quick second to subscribe to this channel and let's see Operation Steel Wave in action
00:49as we tour the freshly renovated and nicely appointed rooms of the rework of a Siege classic,
00:55House.
01:00Breaches come in threeches when Ace, the new two-speed Norwegian attacker, suits up for action.
01:06His Selma gadget can be thrown onto a breachable surface, hard or soft, where it will stick,
01:12deploy explosive arms, slide on down, and then...
01:16Boom!
01:18If there's space and a defender hasn't interfered, the Selma will go through the cycle two more times to create
01:24a positively massive hole.
01:26But even if a Selma is stymied before it creates the full three-boom opening, it can still create a
01:32new line of sight,
01:34a new opening for gadgets and utility, or a new entry point.
01:38It can also blow open an unreinforced hatch, but it'll take two to get through a reinforced one,
01:44because the Selma doesn't do sequential explosions when deployed on a floor.
01:49And though you can stick it to pretty much any surface, a Selma will only activate if the surface is
01:54destructible.
01:55Fun fact, those explosive arms will destroy any defender gadget that's in their deployment area,
02:02which is another way that Ace can make a big impact without taking big risks.
02:07The Selma canister is vulnerable to any damage,
02:10but because Selma explosions don't do much damage to operators,
02:15a defender might want to wait for that second breach to spring a nasty surprise.
02:23Other counters to Ace's Selma breaches include electricity from Kaid or Bandit's gadgets,
02:30mid-air interception from Wamai or Jaeger's devices,
02:33and jamming for mute as long as the mute jammer remains in place.
02:37Take the jammer out, and the Selma will automatically get back to business.
02:41Also, a defender with a sight line so the gadget can simply shoot it,
02:44so you'll want to use Ace's AK-12 assault rifle equipped with NATO sights,
02:50his M1014 shotgun, or his P9 sidearm to clear out any potential interference.
02:58Interference, well, that's the new South African defender Malusi's middle name.
03:03Not literally, it's more that her Banshee gadget is designed with interference in mind.
03:08Deployable on vertical and horizontal surfaces,
03:11the Banshee emits a loud buzzing noise whenever an attacker steps into its substantial radius and line of sight.
03:19In addition to alerting anyone nearby of the attacker's presence,
03:23the Banshee also slows down the attacker's movement,
03:26and the effect gets more powerful the closer they get to the device.
03:30Now that is not the place you want to be,
03:32especially if Malusi is nearby with her T5 SMG, Super 90 shotgun, or RG-15 sidearm.
03:41Did I mention she's a 3-speed?
03:44A fast defender against slowed attackers is just the matchup that Malusi wants,
03:48whether she's protecting the objective or roaming off-site.
03:52Note that her Banshee device only slows attacker movement, not their aim,
03:56so bold attackers might step into the Banshee radius on purpose to lure Malusi out for a duel.
04:03Otherwise, they'll need to take another route, or find a way to destroy the Banshee.
04:08Explosives work, so Ash, Sophia, and Kali are strong counters to Malusi's influence.
04:13A melee hit is effective too, but you'll want the assistance of Twitch or Thatcher
04:18to temporarily turn the thing off so you can get close, or you can just ask Finca for a boost.
04:25But a Banshee combines so well with other defender gadgets
04:29that it might not be the only obstacle to contend with.
04:32Smokes, Toxic Beauties, and Goyo's Volcan shields both create hazards
04:37that attackers need to escape quickly, something a Banshee won't let them do.
04:42Rushes from speedy attackers, pushes from big shieldy boys,
04:46and sneaky flanks from the elusive Nook all make the Banshee hum with delight.
04:51At least, I think that's delight.
04:55It certainly sounds more content than the defender's new secondary gadget, the proximity alarm.
05:01This thing sounds nervous, or maybe that's just a feeling that comes naturally
05:05when a loud noise is signaling your position to any nearby enemies.
05:10Whether it's tipping off roamers to an attacker's entry point, or alerting an anchor that someone's on their flank,
05:17all the proximity alarm needs is line of sight and an attacker in its radius to sound the call.
05:2315 seconds left.
05:25Now, some congratulations are in order because the lengthy renovations to the one and only house have been completed.
05:33It's still a casual map, not one where you'd host anything too fancy,
05:37but that upstairs workshop that's been under construction for over four years
05:41is now a lovely pink bedroom with a new walk-in closet,
05:45and the top of the front porch has been enclosed to create a new hallway over to the bathroom.
05:51Most of the rooms will be very familiar to frequent guests,
05:54but a substantial new two-story addition off the back adds rooms for music, entertainment, and play,
06:00as well as a new staircase and exterior balcony.
06:04Arriving visitors should note that the main entrance is currently out of order,
06:09and one garage entrance has been closed,
06:11leaving only the garage door under the office overhang available.
06:17Also coming with Operation Steel Wave is a balancing tweak for Amaru,
06:22aimed at making her Garahook entry smoother and swifter.
06:29Plus, she can now use her hook to bust up through unreinforced floor hatches,
06:34making for some surprisingly quick interior movement.
06:38The tweak to Amaru, the proximity alarm, and the house map rework
06:42will be free for all players when Operation Steel Wave launches.
06:47The new operators, Ace and Malusi,
06:50will be exclusively available to Year 5 pass holders for the first week,
06:53and after 7 days, will be available for anyone to purchase with Renown or R6 credits.
