00:00I'm trying for an adventure.
00:03Operation Ember Rise is bringing that super hot fire to Rainbow Six Siege
00:09with two new operators and a newly reworked map.
00:12The defender bringing the heat is Goyo,
00:15who can use his Vulcan shields to create strategic cover points,
00:19deny entry to the attacking team,
00:21and serve up the occasional Operator Flambe.
00:25The attacker rising to the challenge is Amaru.
00:28Her Gaara hook can quickly zip her up to rooftops, exterior windows, open hatches, and skylights.
00:35We've got the details you need to know about the new operators,
00:39as well as a tour of the newly reworked canal map.
00:43First up is Goyo.
00:44This operator from Mexico's FES unit is a savvy tactician
00:49who can rapidly deploy his Vulcan shields to stymie incoming attackers.
00:54The Vulcan shield shares all the attributes of a deployable shield,
00:58including the new look and the new Snap to Doorways feature,
01:02but the Vulcan shield has a surprise.
01:07Any time Goyo, his teammates, or even the attacking team
01:11sets off the incendiary core attached to the back of a Vulcan shield,
01:15there's a small explosion,
01:16followed by a prolonged oh-my-god-it's-all-on-fire effect
01:20that you definitely don't want to try running through.
01:23The explosion can be triggered by damaging the core directly
01:26or destroying the shield entirely,
01:28so Goyo doesn't necessarily have to stick around and be the one to set it off.
01:32In fact, this medium-speed, medium-armor operator
01:36can be quite deadly while either roaming with his Vector 45 ACP
01:40or hunkering down with the TC-SG-12 shotgun.
01:44If things go bad, his shields are still a threat even after he's been killed,
01:48especially when paired with a Capkin trap.
01:52But the threat goes both ways.
01:55While Thatcher's EMP grenades and Twitch's drone
01:58can't disable the incendiary core and IQ can't detect it,
02:02the Vulcan shield is still a deployable shield at heart,
02:05meaning it can be destroyed
02:07and the explosion triggered by a Frag Grenade.
02:11Or Ash's Breaching Round.
02:15You could also use Zofia's Impact Grenade
02:19or Sledge's Hammer.
02:22This is fine.
02:24On top of that,
02:25anyone with a clear line of sight to the incendiary core can set it off,
02:29meaning a poorly placed Vulcan shield can work against the defending team.
02:35The goal with Goyo is to leverage the power of the Vulcan shield
02:39and deny entry to enemies at critical moments
02:42or simply buy your team some time early on.
02:45When the attackers are pushing
02:46or when the round is coming to an end,
02:48trigger your Vulcan shields
02:50to keep them away from the objective
02:52or cover your flank.
02:53A well-timed Vulcan explosion can be the difference
02:56between lighting up the scoreboard
02:58or going down in flames.
03:03While Goyo seeks to impede the movement of his enemies,
03:06the Peruvian attacker Amaru can get around the map
03:09like no operator before.
03:11This is her Gaara hook,
03:13and it lets her zip to any repellable ledge or window
03:16to quickly position herself
03:18where defenders aren't expecting her to be.
03:20And once she's inside the building,
03:23the Gaara hook lets her travel up
03:24through open hatches and skylights.
03:27That's a first for Rainbow Six Siege,
03:30and defenders will have to adjust their strategy accordingly
03:33or pay the price.
03:35When it comes to choosing your destination,
03:38the Gaara hook makes it easy,
03:39clearly showing what it can or could grapple to.
03:42You can't grapple to something that's too far away
03:45or too far below your position,
03:47but you can use the hook for horizontal traversal
03:50as long as you're entering a window.
03:52Once inside a building,
03:54you can't target anything but open hatches and skylights.
03:57While the hook will instantly break
03:59a wooden barricade on a window,
04:02a castle barricade will prevent you
04:04from even targeting it.
04:06And a closed hatch will need to be opened
04:09before you can ascend through it.
04:11Amaru's Supernova or ITA-12S shotguns
04:14will come in handy
04:15if defenders leave those hatches unreinforced.
04:18This makes Gaara hook entry a bit noisy,
04:22so team communication and good droning
04:24are all the more valuable.
04:26Amaru doesn't pull her gun up
04:28until landing from the grapple,
04:30so she's completely vulnerable
04:31to Capkin and Frost traps lying in wait.
04:34Not to mention any defenders
04:36who may have heard her entry coming.
04:39Operators who can give her a quick buff,
04:41like Finca,
04:42or use their gadgets to distract defenders
04:44like Ying or Dokebi
04:46are strong pairings for Amaru.
04:49But with medium speed,
04:51medium armor,
04:52and a G8A1 LMG in her hands,
04:55Amaru is a well-rounded
04:57and very mobile
04:58force to be reckoned with.
05:01All this action has been taking place
05:03on the newly reworked Canal map.
05:05The map is still split
05:07between two buildings,
05:08but an additional bridge has been added
05:10to increase building-to-building movement options.
05:13There are fewer windows
05:14around objective sites
05:16and the rooftops have been reconfigured
05:18to make runouts more risky.
05:19And additional staircases
05:21and color-coding
05:22throughout both buildings
05:24have been added
05:25for more rotation options
05:26and easier call-outs.
05:28The reworked Canal map
05:30will be free for all players
05:31when Operation Ember Rise launches.
05:34The two new operators,
05:35Goyo and Amaru,
05:37will be immediately available
05:38for Year 4 pass holders,
05:39and all other players
05:41can unlock them seven days later
05:42with Renown or R6 credits.
