00:00Hello, everyone. Thank you for joining us today. I'm Eric Benish, Executive Producer for NBA 2K21.
00:06And I am Mike Wang, the NBA 2K Gameplay Director, a.k.a. Baluba.
00:11And before I can even say anything, we've already loaded the game. We're in gameplay, just like that. It's that
00:15fast.
00:16Here we're getting a good look at Lower Bowl right away.
00:19You can see all of the players, the staff of the arena, like the security guards, the referees are warming
00:25up, all of the coaches are huddling.
00:27It's just an incredible coming together in real time of all. And there's Ali LaForce right there on the screen.
00:33You see so much new content in the game this year that Lower Bowl, I'm just so impressed by what
00:39the team did, making the arenas come alive.
00:41And definitely something we could never do on the current gen.
00:44Absolutely. Like the next gen hardware, it opens so many doors for us, for what's possible, not just for the
00:49presentation element we just showed there.
00:51It affects everything, like how great the players look, how realistically they move, the lighting.
00:57The reflections, just, I know a lot of people like to make fun of it, but honestly, the sweat looks
01:01incredible.
01:02I love the sweat.
01:04You know, I do too.
01:05The overall look of the game is true next gen to me, and that's something I'm very, very proud of.
01:09Yeah, big shout out to the R team. They really stepped up and did some great work this year.
01:13For sure. So, like I was saying, this is our real first look at real gameplay, just unedited, raw gameplay.
01:21Yeah, and I think, you know, we showed a very short clip earlier on this year, and we showed this
01:27camera.
01:27And this is the camera that we talked about, Eric, when we were watching some of the games in the
01:31bubble.
01:32They were showing this camera view from the floor that we really liked.
01:36So, that would be good to show off the visuals, and it's kind of fun to play in something real
01:40close like this.
01:40Yeah, I love this rail cam.
01:42For me, like showing off the visuals was so key to our next gen experience, and bringing the camera closer
01:47to the actors, putting it lower to the floor,
01:49it brings a whole fresh new perspective to the NBA game.
01:53Like, I've been, you know, playing this game here as an employee for over 18 years, and I feel like
01:57this year, it's amazingly fresh to me,
02:00and I just can't wait to come to work every day to play it.
02:03Absolutely. And there was a quick look at one of the new green flashes you'll see.
02:07When you get a green, people love their green releases.
02:11You're probably hearing a new announcing crew actually going on right now.
02:14We actually have a complete, you know, second commentary team into the game this year.
02:19So, whenever you're playing the game, you can get one of two actual commentary crews,
02:25and this one's headed by Brian Anderson doing the play-by-play.
02:28We have Grant Hill doing color, and I know you saw Allie LaForce earlier.
02:32She's the sideline reporter for this crew, and they can be joined by, you know,
02:36our large number of guest commentators we have.
02:38It's really impressive what the audio team has done, just, you know, having different dynamic crews kind of come into
02:43your games
02:43and, you know, commentate them, so each experience is unique.
02:47Yeah, and just to go back to that last position, too, just that was something we talked about in the
02:50blogs
02:50was the ability to do contact all loops this year.
02:53That's our new impact engine at work, and it's really nice because you don't feel snatched into these things,
02:58but we get some really nice contact at the room that we didn't have before, so we're really excited about
03:02that.
03:02Like, one thing you added, Mike, this year that I really, really enjoy is, honestly,
03:06I see, like, the foot planning kind of tech you have in the game that you want to...
03:11Yeah, sometimes you can't even really appreciate it until you, like, compare side-by-side current-gen and next-gen,
03:16but if you just watch the player's feet, you can see them taking steps,
03:18and that's something that they sometimes would slid around and wouldn't look as good as it would be.
03:24Yeah, I mean, we have so much more we can and want to talk about,
03:27but, you know, honestly, we just wanted to give you a couple of minutes of gameplay.
03:30I want to thank everyone for watching us, for following us for all these years,
03:35for supporting us on the next-gen.
03:38We have so much more to show you.
03:41We have WNBA beats coming up about the W.
03:44We have my NBA, and more on the mode formerly known as the Neighborhoods,
03:48so stay tuned, and I promise you are going to enjoy it.
03:50Thank you, everyone.
03:52Thanks, everyone.
