00:30It presents interesting interactions in this basically lifeless galaxy.
00:34That's really the story of Spore.
00:36What does a lifeless galaxy look like?
00:38Then you drop life in.
00:39What does that life do within the galaxy?
00:44And in doing so, you actually end up hitting all these different scientific subjects.
00:48And you get an interesting perspective on things like physics and chemistry, biology, sociology.
00:54Starting at the very beginning of the game, you know, we're using kind of a panspermia theory of life coming
00:58to this planet.
00:58Starting single cell, then going up through evolution.
01:02One of the interesting things that happens is that you have the successive kind of interplay between cooperation and competition.
01:08You'll have little cells competing.
01:10At some point, some of them decide to group together and cooperate.
01:12And they become specialized and you get multisolar organisms.
01:16Then you have individual creatures competing.
01:19At some point, some of them start grouping together, forming very simple little societies, out-competing the individuals.
01:24And as a society, they also tend to specialize.
01:29I see evolution as kind of this interplay between competition, driving cooperation, driving specialization, which then brings the competition to
01:37the next level.
01:39As we come up into space, we're actually putting you in a toy galaxy that you can now go around.
01:44And it's, you know, it's huge like a real galaxy.
01:46It has a lot of the same kind of cool objects that you might see in something like the Hubble
01:49Space Telescope.
01:50We have things like black holes that you can visit.
01:53At that point, we're actually simulating things like the planetary biosphere.
01:57And we have very simple models for you to go in and, in fact, terraform a planet, develop the food
02:01web.
02:02You actually see the interdependence of species, the ecology going on there.
02:05So in some sense, we're trying to hit all these sciences in a fairly, you know, very fun-to-play
02:10framework
02:11where you're not just experiencing the science or seeing it, but you're actively involved in kind of creating these things.
02:18What we want our players to be able to do are tell these amazing stories of what they've done in
02:23the game.
02:23And the more these stories connect back to reality, to aspects of the world that we live in, or different
02:29sciences,
02:30then I think the more powerful those stories are, the more relevant they are.
02:34So we wanted an environment that was kind of interesting, fantastical, diverse, creative.
02:40But at the same time, all of this stuff connected back to reality.
02:46When you walk away from the game, we want people to think about the world that they live in a
02:50little bit differently
02:50as a result of having played the game.
02:52So we'll be going to talk about this issue.
02:58But I'll take a moment now.
03:00You have the opportunity to think about the future because of the world that they live in a little bit
03:07differently.
03:07We will see how this is coming.
03:07Grazie.
