00:47Anderson one of the community managers on Anthem

00:51working behind the scenes you'll probably see him
00:52one of these streams coming up but yeah
00:55glad to be here on camera. We are very excited
00:57to have you. So actually
00:59Jesse do you want to talk us through what's the agenda
01:01for today? What are we going to cover? Yeah so
01:02originally we said we were going to do some
01:04legendary missions we won't be doing that today
01:06we're primarily going to cover what we've
01:08got coming in the next update
01:10so we're going to talk about that we're going to show you some things
01:13that we've changed
01:15and that's primarily
01:17like the point of this stream is just showing everyone
01:19what we've been working on and Ben you had some things
01:21you wanted to talk about too?
01:22Yeah yeah so I think like just kind of to
01:25riff off that a little bit what we've heard
01:27a lot from reading social media
01:29Reddit all that kind of stuff is that people want to update on
01:32you know what are the bugs that we're fixing with the next patch
01:35and what are some of the quality of life things
01:37so we figured that we'd spend most of our time
01:39just talking about them
01:40I think first off the big one is
01:42where are we at with crashes
01:44we just posted some stuff on Twitter
01:46but we've been investigating crashes
01:48disconnects that kind of stuff
01:50we actually have a strike team going internally
01:52full of some really talented engineers
01:54who are spending all of their time resolving that
01:56so we have a whole lot of crash fixes
01:58going into our next patch
02:00that patch is currently scheduled for March 12th
02:03that's our goal
02:04we'll see where that hits
02:06but it should be pretty close to March 12th
02:09so in that are things like some of the PlayStation crashes
02:12so you know
02:14there have been some reports
02:16where a PlayStation can temporarily power down
02:19and so just to be clear
02:21in all the instances we're aware of
02:23that we've investigated in partnership with first party
02:26they can be powered back up
02:27if you know how to just turn the power back on
02:29and cycle it properly
02:31and so we have discovered a bunch of things
02:34that were causing crashes
02:36one of them was that
02:37and we've addressed them in our patch
02:39so have we caught every crash in the game?
02:41I don't know probably not
02:42but we feel like we've addressed a lot of the really big offenders
02:44and that should make the experience really good for players
02:46we think when that goes live in on March 12th
02:50so that was the first one
02:53the second one is
02:54I think we're going to play the whole game today
02:56with our level 1 defender
02:58because that's the new hotness of what to play Anthem with
03:01just kidding
03:02so we did just
03:03it has been reported
03:05and it's getting some traction on Reddit
03:08that the level 1 defender rifle is doing too much damage
03:12that's a bug
03:12and we can fix it super easily
03:14we just got to work out how quickly we can get that out
03:18so our goal is to fix that real soon
03:20so no worries about that
03:22and then I think
03:23why don't we
03:24yeah, swap to gameplay
03:25and then
03:27we can

04:42a little rough
04:46that's fine

04:52so some of the things we did
04:53was it last?

04:55the week's a bit of a blur

04:57we did some loot changes as well
04:59so
05:00there was lots of
05:02frustration about
05:04mainly around I think infusions
05:05not being good enough
05:06but you could get bad rolls
05:08and so
05:09I'm sure if you're watching the stream
05:10you're kind of aware of it
05:11we did some posts to Reddit
05:14communicated the problem
05:15what we wanted to do
05:16and then we were able to get that in
05:18I think it was the day
05:19next day or the day after
05:21I can't remember now
05:22I think it was Thursday
05:22yep
05:23and the TLDR of that is
05:26you know
05:27inscriptions
05:28sorry
05:28inscriptions should be more relevant to the weapon
05:31or the item
05:33specifically if they impact that item
05:35so the gear icon things
05:37which means it's just for that item
05:38are always good for
05:40for the weapon or item that it's on
05:42and then any suit bonuses
05:44that could apply to anything
05:45they apply to anything
05:46so having a lightning damage
05:50or electricity damage bonus
05:51on a weapon
05:53is still cool
05:54because if you're playing
05:54an electricity storm build
05:56like that's still useful to you
05:57so
05:57yep
05:58I think that's been pretty good
05:59we're monitoring all of that
06:02you know
06:04we're always going to review things
06:06like drop rates
06:07and that kind of stuff
06:08we think there are a couple things missing still
06:10so
06:12originally we wanted to remove
06:14uncommon and common
06:15so white and green drops
06:17from our level 30 content
06:18we couldn't do that
06:19the fast way
06:21or the server side way
06:22but we have addressed that
06:24in the patch coming on March 12th
06:26so
06:27hopefully that makes that experience better
06:29I think
06:29people were getting frustrated
06:31they're doing super hard content
06:32and then you get us
06:33a stack of
06:34common and uncommon drops
06:36it's not really cool
06:37so we've addressed that for March 12th
06:39and then I think the part
06:41we haven't done yet
06:42and we'll just monitor it
06:43and we're talking internally
06:44about some plans
06:46you know
06:46GM 2 and 3
06:48that's Grandmaster 2 and 3
06:49don't feel as rewarding
06:50as we'd like them to be right now
06:52I think from an efficiency standpoint
06:54and from a quality of loot
06:58you get perspective
06:59either through like
07:01the drop rates
07:02or even the types of items
07:04that are dropping
07:05the rarity and stuff like that
07:06so we're going to look into that
07:07that's not in this next patch
07:09but we're on top of that
07:09we're listening to the feedback
07:11so you know
07:13something like a consolidated thread
07:14on Reddit would be cool
07:15if you guys feel like doing that
07:17that just kind of talks through
07:18any feedback you have
07:20for GM 2 and 3
07:21we'd love to read that feedback

07:41before Colossus players
07:42might have noticed
07:43it took a little while to
07:45the heavy hit reaction
07:46was a little brutal
07:47so overheating
07:49running into walls
07:50if you you know
07:51happen to do that
07:52takes a little while
07:54but so if you watch now
07:55you crash into the ground
07:58you can move pretty quick
07:59if you blink you miss it
08:00yeah so
08:02but here's the thing there
08:03right stuff like this
08:04at least to me
08:05it's like little quality
08:06of life things
08:06if we get enough of them
08:08done again based on player
08:09feedback I feel like
08:10it makes a really big
08:10difference to like
08:11the enjoyment of when
08:12you play the game
08:12yeah that's pretty fast
08:13so it's a lot faster
08:14I've been playing Colossus
08:16and if you make a mistake
08:18and run into a wall
08:18you're a sitting duck
08:20for a while
08:21actually so I can't remember
08:22do you know if we did that
08:24just for flight crashes
08:25or is it all heavy hit reactions
08:27it's all heavy hit reactions
08:29I think it's all
08:29yeah so there are a couple
08:31other situations
08:31where you can
08:32get in a tough spot
08:33as a Colossus
08:34where you can't bring
08:35your shield up in time
08:35because you've got that
08:36little time out on the
08:37heavy hit reaction
08:38that should feel better
08:39as well
08:40yeah so gear
08:40you can use gear quicker
08:41after being taking a heavy hit
08:44makes it a lot quicker
08:45yeah like you said
08:46to pull up that shield
08:47and this is
08:47this is going to be fun
08:49that's only
08:51so other stuff
08:52I mean
08:52we almost suggest reading through
08:54not all the patch notes
08:55but a bunch of the patch notes
08:56we went through the patch notes
08:58I think we fixed
08:59we made like 300 changes
09:02about
09:04sometimes like
09:05five changes equals
09:06one patch notes
09:07so it's not really
09:07doesn't really work the way
09:08but just for context
09:09like mainly again
09:11our lens
09:12what we wanted to do
09:13was like anything
09:13that would improve
09:15any kind of friction points
09:16or kind of player feedback
09:18is what we wanted to do
09:19in this patch
09:19for next week
09:20so
09:21some other things
09:22so I mentioned
09:23we had kind of
09:24our crash and stability strike team going
09:26and so
09:26they were focused a lot on
09:28on the specific
09:29PlayStation crashes
09:30but honestly looking at
09:31all of the top crashes
09:32and connectivity issues
09:34so there's a bunch of stuff
09:36related to that
09:36that will go in the patch
09:37so hopefully
09:38you know
09:39people have a better experience there
09:42one of the other big ones
09:44that had come up
09:46both through social media
09:47and just because like
09:48when we played the game
09:48it was annoying
09:49is quick play
09:51wasn't going so great
09:53you would backfill
09:55into missions
09:55and they wouldn't progress
09:56so
09:58we made a lot of improvements there
10:00so we kind of took
10:01most of the situations
10:03that got flagged with us
10:04so people were great
10:05about reporting specific missions
10:06and specific situations
10:07where they were hitting issues
10:09so we've addressed
10:10all the ones we know of
10:12that doesn't mean
10:13we've fixed all of it
10:14I think there's some stuff
10:15to quick play
10:15we're just
10:15we're going to have to get better at
10:16and make it better
10:17but at least those big things
10:19that were reported
10:20we believe we've addressed them
10:21it's like seven or eight
10:22specific situations
10:23that we've fixed
10:25and our hope is that
10:26that means
10:27you know
10:27most of the time
10:28in quick play
10:30might have to wake up the laptop
10:31most of the time
10:32in quick play
10:32you should have success there
10:35so that'll be good

11:16another piece of feedback was
11:18hey it's frustrating
11:19when I'm in
11:20I matchmake with a group of people
11:22that I don't know
11:23or like I'm not on
11:24on voice comms with
11:25and they don't notice
11:26when I go down
11:27and then they don't resurrect me
11:29and I have no way
11:30to like do anything
11:32so we really heard that feedback
11:33agree it was frustrating
11:35so what we've tried to do
11:36is we've removed
11:37as many of the
11:39respawn
11:40restriction
11:40restricted areas
11:41as we can from the whole game
11:44so and just added a timer
11:45so for example
11:47like if you're in a stronghold
11:48and you go down
11:49there's a 30 second timer
11:50and so like
11:51ideally your friends
11:52come and repair you
11:54because that's what
11:55good friends do
11:56but if they don't
11:57it's just 30 seconds
11:58it's not like an unlimited time
11:59until they defeat the boss
12:02or whatever you're doing
12:03at that point in time
12:04and so there are
12:05there are still a few missions
12:06where that has to be in there
12:07for like reasons
12:08it's just a long story
12:09but as many spots
12:11as we could remove it
12:12we have
12:12so that was great feedback
12:14as well
12:14so thank you all for that
12:15I think that will make
12:16people's lives a bit better
12:18alright so
12:20so do you have anything

12:35is people talking about
12:37the messaging
12:38that can pop up
12:39during free play
12:39of oh your server
12:40is going to shut down
12:41we've actually changed that
12:43so it does not happen
12:44near as often
12:45until the server
12:46is actually going to shut down
12:48pretty close to it
12:50also another messaging
12:51people with the
12:53the cortex entry
12:54that kept popping up
12:55in free play
12:56it's like open the cortex
12:57and crack this thing
12:58that doesn't pop up anymore
12:59so once you've completed that
13:01it won't pop up anymore
13:03so nice little
13:04quality of life improvement
13:05getting a few questions about
13:08so that's cool with the
13:09removing restricted respawn
13:11but can you make
13:11that whole thing better
13:12yes
13:14we should do that
13:15that's like a longer term thing
13:17you know some of these things are
13:18what's a quick way
13:19to improve the experience
13:20and then what's a longer term item
13:22so on our longer term thing
13:24I don't have a timeline for it
13:25we have things like
13:27you know if I'm down
13:28how can that experience be improved
13:30and there's all kinds of ideas
13:30I don't want to get into specifics
13:34but that's a great question
13:35and yeah we're going to look at that
13:36doing what we did for this patch
13:38was a way we could do something
13:39like in a day
13:40and then get it in a patch quickly
13:42so it was at least
13:43removing that major friction point
13:45of like you know
13:46and I can't use the map
13:47and I can't do anything
13:48and I have to just sit here
13:49so that's kind of that
13:56pluggers
13:56I don't know that's for me

14:03GM2 and 3 changes when
14:05don't have anything to announce there yet
14:07again I think it would be cool

14:17but until we have an actual plan

14:22prefer not to comment on it

14:27give the wrong idea to people
14:29or something that we're doing
14:33so next content drop
14:34so we've talked a bit about
14:36content that's coming

14:38we released a 90 day calendar
14:40in there there's a whole bunch of stuff
14:42slated for March
14:43so our plan is to still release the things
14:45in March and March
14:47you know
14:48I don't
14:50we don't have new content
14:52in this patch
14:53March 12
14:53new content specifically
14:55but the one after
14:57at the end of March
14:58we hope to get a couple of things in there
15:00that we had talked about before
15:03like the Elysian Chess
15:05we called Stronghold Chess before
15:06and the Legendary Missions
15:07again that's not a commitment
15:08that's like a goal
15:09just trying to be transparent
15:10about what we're aiming for
15:12like I said many things happen
15:13so that's our goal for now though
15:15so that'll be the next thing
15:16so a couple weeks
15:17it's a couple weeks away I guess
15:21any word about events
15:22yeah I think events is a good topic
15:24so we've had some
15:26we tried doing some really light events
15:28we called them ultra light events
15:32because we were trying to see
15:33like what's the amount of change
15:35in free play we could do
15:36that was meaningful to players
15:38and then kind of work on that
15:39and so I think we've had
15:41some things that were interesting
15:43but didn't quite hit the mark
15:44and other things that were
15:45I think pretty cool
15:46like There Be Giants was an event
15:48we've run before
15:49and we're going to rerun that again
15:51every now and then
15:52where if you kill the four named
15:55titans in free play
15:56you get a cool deckhold
15:58and that's like something
15:59that you just get from gameplay
16:00I think that might be the first one
16:02we have like that maybe
16:03oh no there's a couple but
16:04you notice I'm not getting

16:30weren't able to get credit on that

17:12some of the challenge was
17:13it wasn't directed enough
17:15like Outlaw Outrage
17:16there's Outlaws everywhere
17:17like that's kind of cool
17:18it's kind of different
17:19but we kind of learned that
17:21hey it's probably better
17:22to have like a specific area
17:23of the map
17:24where something happens
17:25and then we direct you
17:26to that area
17:26so that you're not
17:27flying through all the free play
17:29trying to discover something
17:30so there are some lessons
17:32we've learned with that
17:32and we'll be doing new stuff
17:34over time
17:34and improving that stuff
17:35over time
17:36so again feedback's really great
17:38it's helpful in this kind of
17:40iterative process
17:41for some of these things
17:44support gear
17:45what's the deal

21:25is no longer bound
21:26to the back button

21:34so I started playing
21:36and every time I talked
21:36to my buddies
21:37it would cancel out
21:38everything I was doing
21:39I'm like

21:41I actually found the solution
21:42from a reddit post

21:45that was great
21:45but we fixed that
21:47so that's a small thing
21:48but sometimes
21:49small things count

21:53there's a bunch of problems
21:54on respawning
21:55where you would end up
21:56behind like a wall
21:58like a close
21:59so you can get back in
22:00we've tried to catch
22:01as many of those spots
22:02as possible
22:02and remove them
22:03so you spawn on the right
22:05side of the wall
22:05which is pretty cool
22:09we've talked about
22:10the next point
22:11we already showed you
22:12the launch bay
22:12that you can spawn
22:13from anywhere
22:14again that'll teleport
22:15you up to the forge
22:16so that's pretty cool
22:20we have a few more things

24:15almost like a weird sentence
24:17but what that means is like
24:18like you don't have a melee item
24:20you don't have an ultimate item
24:21so how do those things scale
24:23right
24:23and we felt like
24:25and people reported this
24:26on the forums
24:27on reddit
24:28and social media
24:29but
24:30um
24:31as you push like
24:32I think GM1's not too bad
24:34but GM2
24:34uh
24:35like melee damage
24:36and ultimate scaling
24:37really wasn't good
24:37and that affects
24:38I think
24:39you know
24:39things like the ranger
24:41who like
24:41you can have really cool builds
24:42around fast ultimate
24:44and ultimate damage
24:45just weren't working out so great
24:46or even interceptor melee builds
24:48where the melee damage
24:49didn't work
24:50so
24:51oh sorry
24:51it wasn't great
24:52so we've improved that scaling
24:53so as you push harder difficulties
24:55uh
24:56melee and ultimates
24:57will now be much more effective
24:58so that's really cool
24:59um
25:00and as part of doing that
25:02we have to change some of the itemization
25:03so you'll actually see
25:05different power score numbers
25:07now than you had before
25:08uh
25:09so for example
25:10I think

25:12a masterwork now is 45 right

37:52it's definitely very safe
37:53to be playing PlayStation 4
37:55and then we have some fixes
37:56for the issues

38:07lots of stability improvements in general
38:08so between crashes
38:10and audio cutting out fixes

38:17we removed respawn restrictions
38:19so that if your teammates
38:21aren't paying attention
38:21while you're down
38:23you'll respawn after a timer
38:25the timer is different
38:25depending on the content you're doing
38:27um
38:27you know
38:29things like
38:29server shutdown messages
38:30don't happen as often
38:32colossus hit reaction
38:33bugs there
38:34ranger ultimate behind windwall
38:36thing is fixed
38:37um
38:38we've scaled up
38:39a bunch of the
38:40power score
38:41uh
38:42for masterwork
38:43and legendary
38:44specifically
38:44so that we can better scale
38:46melee
38:46and ultimate damage
38:48so that should make that
38:49experience be better
38:50for people who want to focus on
38:51melee or ultimate builds
38:52uh
38:52which you know ultimate
38:53should be really powerful
38:54so that's cool
38:55uh
38:56tons of stability fixes
38:57tons of bug fixes

39:01that we saw as feedback
39:03from the players
