00:03Wow oh my god families across Australia are drowning in clutter this is what we
00:14took out of your house all of them are desperate for help clutter is anything
00:23that gets between you and the life you want to live peter walsh frees them from the stuff holding
00:31them back while sheree barber renovates their homes in record time and angie kent brings much
00:42loved treasures back to life it gives me goosebumps it's the greatest
00:55transformation amazing of their lives
01:10annie and mark have been happily married for more than 30 years but are now facing a crisis at home
01:17i love annie very much she pitches in to help all the time she does a lot of community work
01:22she likes to keep contact with her friends and she would also like to have them over
01:26but the state of the house is extremely cluttered there's always been a little bit of clutter since
01:32we moved in here originally but it's been really really bad for the past two years i lost my parents
01:38a couple of years ago a lot of their stuff i've kept and i'm trying to work out how i
01:42can honor them
01:43and not just throw it out i have a lot of my stuff here too because i have that theory
01:50of i might need
01:51it one day mark and annie's son harry also lives in the house and eight months ago his interstate
01:58girlfriend sophie moved in as they can't afford their own place yet the first time sophie came down
02:04we stayed in a hotel just because i didn't want to show her the place because i was that embarrassed
02:08of it
02:09when i moved in annie was very helpful but the clutter has created a tension that is not necessary
02:15it's hard for all of us this situation is all my fault um sorry yeah i do feel that this
02:27is this is all
02:28my doing i'm just so overwhelmed and i really do need help memories of loved ones are precious but
02:45being left an overwhelming volume of possessions after they've passed away can be incredibly painful
02:51to deal with add to that annie's own i might need it one day clutter and it's no wonder this
02:57family
02:57have reached out for our help hello hello may we come in yes please come in thank you let's get
03:08started
03:08thank you wow that's a lot of stuff okay hi hi nice to meet you you too obviously the sun
03:21yes i can
03:22judge by the face okay definitely so the immediate sense is overwhelming help me understand what we're
03:30looking at here that's our dining table okay well it's supposed to be our dining table you have to push
03:35stuff away to sit and eat we don't okay okay so what have we got here this is a kind
03:40of a dumping
03:41area i suppose you could call it right now yeah okay since annie's parents have passed away a lot
03:45of the stuff that's come here yeah i have a lot of my own stuff yes but the needs has
03:50just been added
03:53i'm looking around and i'm thinking the space is actually quite beautiful like you've got this open
03:57plan dining room kitchen but the dining table is pushed right in under the kitchen bench and then i'm
04:03looking at your kitchen bench and it's so cluttered i don't know how you cook meals we don't with great
04:08difficulty yeah it's a real juggle and sophie that has moved down she loves to cook and make cakes and
04:16that kind of breaks my heart that she can't do that because there's just too much clutter around for
04:22all right so it's not just this it's this let's keep looking it just keeps going and going oh my
04:32goodness it's just kind of bewildering can you explain it no it just happens and i don't know how to
04:42fix
04:42it does it cause arguments or have you guys just kind of given up it's gone we've kind of got
04:48into
04:49the bed of both let me stop here for a second because you have a very typical default and the
04:55default is you laugh but there's nothing funny about this is there no no so what do you want from
05:04this
05:04space i'd like to be a living room that we can all sit in and watch tv together and sit
05:12and have a nice cup of tea and just talk yeah we normally just go back to our own little
05:18areas
05:19because there's enough room for all of us to be here comfortably is there any joy no in this room
05:24no there's not are there other rooms we're going to look at while we're here yeah there's one more
05:29through there okay then come on let's do it you guys okay yeah whoa okay all this so this room
05:44it's so much isn't it it's just so much too much yeah i wanted to make it into a sewing
05:52craft room
05:52for myself okay since my eldest daughter left and moved out yeah and make it like my room okay but
06:00i don't know what it is right now yeah so help me understand there's crafting stuff in this room
06:06what else is in this room once again stuff from my parents house i've lost my mum about seven or
06:14eight years ago now and then when my father went i had to clean out their house for 50 odd
06:18years
06:19i feel i've got that responsibility to their stuff and it's trying to learn how to to navigate that i
06:25suppose i had a great childhood and i want to make sure i'm doing the right thing and honoring my
06:31parents memory but i look at the stuff and i go well that was my parents but what are i
06:37going to do with
06:37it now at the moment you have boxes and boxes of stuff that were your parents life and are not
06:47your life
06:48yeah i loved my parents but i don't want that and if you drop dead today it would be harry
06:56and your
06:56children's responsibility to deal with this and their grandparents stuff which is what my parents did
07:04to me and i don't want to do that to them yeah that's what your parents did to you yeah
07:11i'm very
07:13angry with the position they left me in you're allowed to be angry with them it doesn't mean you
07:18love them any less i'm very hurt and about it all and i don't have any basil sisters so it
07:25is me
07:26and can i tell you you're allowed to let go of all that stuff i know i don't know how
07:32to okay that's
07:32why i'm here you can let go of that yeah and still love them and step back from what they
07:40did
07:40to you the only thing that's coming back into this house is the stuff that will help you create the
07:47life for your family thank you good to go yes grab something let's go let's get moving here we go
07:56grab this
08:01to create space for annie's family to live together harmoniously under one roof everything
08:07is packed up and removed from the house but as angie searches for treasures hidden amongst the
08:14mess the team quickly realized the colossal amount of clutter is more than they'd allowed for
08:20oh great joe hey listen we're running short pick us up some more boxes okay yeah thank you
08:31coming up sheree devises a risky plan you could crack the tiles and then i'm not going to be a
08:37happy
08:37girl oh no while annie struggles to cope with her enormous task oh my god
08:54the last items are being removed from the house annie and mark share with their son harry
08:59and his girlfriend sophie after being inundated with clutter from the deceased estate of annie's parents
09:10everything's taken to the space invaders warehouse where it's all unloaded by an army of movers
09:16and laid out into categories with annie's mountain of clutter filling the tables we've had to pile the
09:25massive number of her parents boxes off to the side it's no surprise annie felt crushed under the
09:31weight of it all and it's going to be a huge challenge for her to break free of this generational
09:37clutter eyes closed yep oh good but to create a livable home for her own family at least 70 of
09:45this stuff has got to go mark annie when we came into your home you were literally buried in the
09:54sheer
09:54volume of stuff that you were dealing with day after day on the count of three i want you to
09:58open
09:59your eyes and have a look at what that looks like lay down in front of you one two three
10:08open your eyes
10:12out of my knees so much
10:15my God
10:25on row one and row two are all of your crafting items then we have office items kitchenware
10:35books cds and dvds this is so much then linen bedding shoes bags furniture
10:48600 trinkets oh my god all of this took 405 bins bags and boxes to get here to the hall
10:59including about 100 boxes that came from your parents home my god i packed all those boxes up
11:08from my parents how did that all fit
11:15but did a win start it's why i'm here this is yesterday this is you drowning in an ocean
11:26of stuff and gasping for air look at you it's definitely yesterday i can't go like i like
11:35and you don't have to let's power into the future
11:42reducing the clutter is just one part of the process
11:46the other is back at the house where sheree has just two days to turn the dysfunctional living room
11:53dining room and kitchen into stylish usable spaces for the whole family and transform the cluttered
12:01spare room into a dedicated crafting space for annie's creative endeavors
12:10while this house has great bones it's looking tight and dated
12:15so i'm going to give it a revamp that'll suit this family to a t without blowing my small budget
12:23we're laying down protective film during our reno as the timber floor throughout the house is in
12:27really good mix unfortunately the same can't be said about the fireplace in the living room
12:33all right dom this fireplace is looking a little sad wouldn't you agree
12:37yeah it needs some love so what i'm thinking is that the actual fireplace i'll recode it in a
12:42heat resistant paint just black it'll make it pop but you can see the base here it's terrible
12:47the tiles are lifting up so it'd be great if we can try and replace those the problem is we
12:53can't
12:53easily remove this heavy cast iron stove to get to the floor without disconnecting the floor above
12:59so we need a fast solution so we're going to have to prop up the base yeah so it's a
13:05little bit fiddly
13:06pop it up so i can work on it and then the new tiles and then put a nice pretty
13:10silver edge around the
13:11edge jacking up the fireplace will allow us to get in underneath remove and replace the old tiles
13:18while the feet float a few centimeters above compared to reverse cycle air conditioners wood
13:26burning stoves aren't super efficient at heating a home all great for air quality but annie really
13:32wants to keep hers as it adds a welcoming cozy feel to the place meanwhile the kitchen is also
13:40undergoing an overhaul two big things that i need you to do in this kitchen yeah first of all is
13:45remove the bench tops they've got all these little chips here and there and i don't want to leave them
13:51like that but the big risky part of that is that if you don't get those bench tops out cleanly
13:56you
13:56couldn't crack the tiles and then i'm not going to be a happy girl oh no now the second thing
14:01is
14:01a lot of the doors the hinges are broken they're misaligned so we need to realign all the cabinetry
14:08doors so it's going to look like a new kitchen without being a new kitchen a new kitchen on a
14:11budget yeah the old kitchen looked outdated but the layout still totally practical renovating the
14:18whole thing could cost tens of thousands of dollars but if my tradies can get the bench top off
14:24without cracking the wall tiles i can make this kitchen look brand new for a fraction of the cost
14:37so mark annie on this table and on this wall behind us over 600 trinkets this has been completely
14:45filling your home and your life so i want you to go down this table and the wall behind treasures
14:52that's the thing that you now have to focus on the most important memory item that really evokes
14:59happiness joy anything else it's time for it to go start here let's go okay stays okay
15:10only the best of the best
15:14i bought him back from overseas okay so he's pretty special okay let's keep moving i'm starting
15:21to see how annie's ended up with so much of her own stuff clogging the home yes okay with her
15:29wanting
15:29to hold on to every item no matter its significance okay tell me about this oh i just think he's
15:36so cute
15:36okay okay so there are a thousand cute things in the world treasures most important yes or no no it's
15:43not really okay you're only at item 10 of 600 oh yeah that better stay okay tell me why i
15:51made it
15:51you made this awesome and mark listen you've been largely silent in this yes and you also have to
15:57accept some responsibility for what's happening here because you say something and then laugh it off
16:04yeah which is a way of giving annie permission so instead of laughing it off what does the clutter
16:11do to you and the family makes it extremely awkward for us to function as a family properly
16:18it's the first time i've heard you speak to her about this without defaulting to laughter
16:28let's go anything else in this quadrant here probably that love that okay what is it that's
16:34our wedding oh lovely it's from our wedding okay it's lovely do you want to keep this i'd say yes
16:39okay good when you look at this what do you see well it's our marriage it's our start of our
16:45life
16:46together it was a beautiful day find the treasures see this compared to like a first cover which is
17:03important yeah treasures let's get moving while it's good to see annie identify a true treasure
17:12it was given to me as a gift from a committee i was on is it a treasure okay i'll
17:18leave it it's
17:19clear she's finding this process very hard that was a wedding present so we need to keep that okay
17:26that and the bowl i'll keep those i love that one okay okay good and with progress being incredibly
17:33slow that's my harrods bear and my paddington i'll keep i'll have to increase the pressure in the next
17:40sort or we'll never get through the enormous amount of clutter in time so we started with over 600
17:46items this is what you're keeping yep we have a lot more to do let's go come on coming up
17:53look what
17:54i found angie discovers the significance of a unique collection that's so special and a heartbreaking
18:01home truth it's not easy to hear is it that hurts comes crashing down on annie
18:15at annie and mark's house the tradies are hard at work as sheree returns from the local hardware
18:21store picking up fixing screws and paint supplies maximizes the time my tradies spend on the tools
18:29and reversing up this steep driveway means i can unload from the back of my ute with ease
18:40back inside it's time to see if the kitchen bench top will come out without cracking the tiles
18:49it's popped out
18:52removing the old chip bench top section by section proved to be the best way to avoid damage
18:58installing new ones will really freshen this space up and should last for years to come
19:03while the peeling vinyl on the cabinet doors looks terrible they may not need to be replaced
19:11how good is that it's all right so you've managed to get the old vinyl wrap off the old cabinet
19:16doors
19:16just by using the heat gun yeah coming off quite easily wow that's so good because you can't paint
19:21vinyl but you can paint old doors so that means if you can get all of that off we can
19:27completely
19:27paint all of these doors right throughout the kitchen getting it look brand new even though it's
19:32the old kitchen new doors would have been an expensive custom mortar from a factory so we're
19:38saving thousands by removing the vinyl wrap and painting them instead this allows me to spend money
19:44on other big ticket items oh you got my new air con system sure do all right great well that's
19:49the
19:49old one that doesn't work so if you can decommission that that would be fantastic
19:56removing the old outside unit and replacing it with a new one is pretty straightforward
20:01and while the existing fireplace can still provide a cozy ambience
20:06this reverse cycle system will heat annie's home more efficiently throughout winter
20:10and keep a cool in summer
20:21annie hi ann hello my love welcome thank you look what i found what have we got here
20:28these are roses i've collected probably for the last 30 odd years 30 years of collecting
20:35yeah from when i first met my husband one of the first flowers mark gave me was a rose
20:41is it from one of this errors um i think it is from this one here is this one of
20:46the first it's
20:47one of our first photos together yes oh my gosh that's so special i love roses yeah and i've been
20:54trying to think of craft ways of using them but i've not been able to really think of what i
20:58could
20:58do to really honor what they are for me maybe i could kick start that off for you i'd very
21:03much
21:03appreciate it i'm excited about this one so leave these with me yeah and while i've got you let's
21:10pop these underneath here don't mind i want to have a chat with you about something else i found
21:17some more treaties all right does this spark some memories oh yes it does these are hats that my mum
21:28made
21:29oh and i noticed actually this one in particular am i right to assume this is your mama that's my
21:37mum
21:37and this is the hat and this is at your at our wedding all of 30 odd years ago my
21:43mum was actually
21:44a milliner by trade she was very good at her craft yeah absolutely beautiful and what about i saw these
21:51little um these little guys um my mum dressed them up and i carried them at my wedding that's so
21:58special and everything we're all put on do you think that's where you got your creative flair from
22:04with your arts and crafts and keeping a lot of stuff yeah definitely yes it's lovely that annie's
22:12passion for crafts has been handed down from her mum thank you annie faye and i want to celebrate
22:18that in annie's new craft room first off these custom-made hats or fascinators as they're called
22:25are way too beautiful to be hidden away in a box so i'm carefully removing decades of dust and grime
22:32to make them look as good as new next i'm framing the prints to protect these priceless memories
22:40then i'm spray painting a couple of modern wire hat stands i've bought so they match the gold photo
22:45frames and complement charie's renault color scheme the rose petals are far more delicate so i need to
22:52come up with a clever way to preserve and display them annie all of the stuff here relates to kitchen
23:01back downstairs peter's keen to reduce the enormous amount of clutter that made annie's kitchen
23:07difficult to use let's run down this table moving as quickly as we can okay this looks like
23:12it's brand new okay so this is stay let's keep moving what have we got um you're going to use
23:19this ah yes okay what do we got here our crock pot i might use that one day okay what
23:24do we got here
23:25what is this this is the dinner set that my mum and dad very rarely used because it was too
23:30good
23:31i love it and i want to use it okay well we're now speeding through things annie's simply keeping
23:38too much so it's time to reveal my secret weapon harry sophie
23:46it's clear family means a lot to annie welcome but none of them have been good at communicating
23:53their issues to her so it's time for an intervention we're talking about all things kitchen okay now i
23:59hear you're the cook yes i love baking you do yes and you stepping into this as the new person
24:06in a new relationship what's it been like challenging and you clearly love this man
24:13yeah do you see a future with him yes do you see a future with circuit yeah i do okay
24:20does the state of the house threaten that future i think it does a little bit um yeah because it
24:25just
24:25brings up extra friction that doesn't really need to be there okay why are you staying there i just
24:30financially moving out it's just difficult at the moment okay do you feel trapped a little bit
24:36if you could move out financially would you probably would have yeah it's not easy to hear is it
24:42that hurts yeah let me push this one step further if you had children would you let them wander around
24:51in this house no no no definitely not that's what's at stake here yep stuff or family family
25:03i've looked around all of this and i found the greatest treasure of all can i show it to you
25:09yep
25:29it's the only thing you need
25:41this set your mum really loves it stay or going stay yeah that's fine
25:50but let's move on with the rest of the kitchen stuff and i can tell you let's get it down
25:53so that soph can really get in there and cook let's run down the line and deal with this stuff
25:59come on let's go are we keeping these nah they can go
26:05i can go
26:08do you want your toasty warmer no also just checking that out they can all go
26:17it's good to see a shift in annie i don't think we need these
26:20no we don't need those but most of these items don't have any sentimental value
26:25it's all going
26:28so while there's progress i fear there are much harder sorts to come
26:32so when we started guys this whole row was covered in kitchen related stuff
26:38basically we have this you're keeping and 13 boxes off to donation which now will open up that
26:45space so you can cook so you can enjoy the space sophie what are you thinking i'm very happy
26:51you've got lots more to do come with me let's go
26:55coming up angie concocts a unique solution for annie's rose petals
27:02and later the family are blown away by their renovated home
27:14at annie and mark's house new tiles are being laid under the fireplace to bring it in line with
27:21cheree's contemporary new style
27:24meanwhile painting is in full swing
27:27this house is situated in rolling hills and a beautiful leafy street
27:32so i want to bring that sense of growth and renewal inside by painting walls in the living
27:38room and dining room are light green and two toning with the lush forest green feature wall
27:44painting is also underway in annie's new craft room
27:49the walls were plain white with a dark teal color at one end so i'm making over the room with
27:54a light
27:54soft pink to help annie feel relaxed and comfortable while getting creative
28:01in the living room the dated ceiling fan and dark lighting are being replaced with modern
28:07fixtures and extra down lights to brighten up the space the blue floor tiles that separated the
28:14kitchen from the rest of the open plan living space were also decades out of date so they've
28:20been covered with self-leveling compound ready for new floor planks to be laid that's going to make
28:26it look so much better yeah it is you know it'll make it look like the floor continues all the
28:30way
28:30through the kitchen instead of jack hammering out the tiles which is a difficult time consuming
28:36process that could damage the floorboards underneath laying vinyl on top is by far the quickest and most
28:51affordable solution
28:51at the warehouse angie's come up with an innovative idea for annie's dried roses
28:59to preserve these precious petals i'm going to encase the best looking ones in resin
29:04to create a platter that can be used for dinner parties resin comes in two separate liquid forms
29:11and it only hardens when equal amounts are combined
29:16it's important to take time mixing to avoid air bubbles in the finished product
29:22i pour half the mixture into a plastic lid which is the perfect shape for a mold
29:29then i start assembling my rose petals and to give the whole thing a bit of sparkle i'm also adding
29:37gold leaf
29:39finally i pour the remaining mix on top ensuring it encases everything
29:44in 12 hours it'll be cured enough to come out of the mold and i can't wait to see the
29:50results
29:51downstairs peter has prepared annie's greatest challenge yet
29:57with every table now covered with 100 boxes filled with items left by annie's parents after their
30:04passing what difference to your life does any of this make there's one or two things that
30:13are special i can see now but the other stuff probably not anything so what stands out amongst all this
30:22my giraffe
30:28why did this stand out um when i was
30:40um when i was six years old i got murray valley encephalitis and almost died at the children's
30:48hospital and apparently the little person that was in the next cot had one and that's all i cried
30:56out for so my dad went downstairs and bought it for me and he kind of was with me all
31:04through when i was
31:05little okay so what we're looking at here is not a giraffe what does this bring back for you
31:13and the time that the children saved my life yeah the time when your dad stepped up and bought you
31:22something as a sign of his love and protection of you so i want to challenge you to have a
31:29walk around
31:30with your family and i want you to tell some stories of a couple of important things
31:37and take those couple of important things and step into the future and leave this anchor behind
31:46yep off you go five minutes
31:50five minutes just go for a walk go for a walk this is when di and charles come out oh
31:56yes and i met
31:57them in albury you met them yeah well i was in the crowd and took her hand which hand touched
32:05them
32:05show me this one oh my god wow this hand touched the royal family have you washed it oh i
32:11didn't for
32:12about a week oh my god although this is a huge test franny my dad bought me this geelong book
32:19which
32:20i like to keep you're a crazy geelong football club supporter i love that okay she takes it on with
32:25a
32:26smile i used to be very good at ballet when i was younger and show us position one come on
32:31come out
32:31here so that's one wow three three oh my god and while she is keeping a few things as she
32:40should
32:40that was my first holy communion veil and my other my eldest daughter worried at her first commune lovely
32:47okay good it's a massive breakthrough when we started this is all the stuff that came from your

33:42get everything done in time all right so we'll push that in the stack of furniture i ordered now
33:49needs to be assembled rapidly in the old living room layout the tv was stuck in a corner making it
33:57awkward to watch so i'm reorientating the room to face a pair of new buffets that i'm combining with a
34:03bank of storage in the old spare room i've really gone to town not just with new storage but with
34:10other
34:10accessories too that'll transform annie into a crafting machine and the days of the dining table
34:17being wedged under the kitchen bench are over i'm adding a brand new showstopper that will take pride
34:24of place in the center of the dining room meanwhile go go go go having broken down the barriers holding
34:35her back back that can go it's a lot easier for annie to go through the rest of her stuff
34:41that can go
34:42from books that can go good job to linen i let them go
34:49and excess craft supplies that can go and that can go yes i can go annie has come a long

37:25Yeah.
37:29I'm actually fooled by the amount of money that I'm donating,
37:33and I can't believe what I started with
37:36and what we've been left with.
37:38It's a weight off my shoulders, definitely.
37:42The items for donation are loaded onto the charity truck.
37:48And the items to keep go back to the house,
37:51where Peter and Angie find the best place for them.
37:55And Sheree adds her finishing touches.
37:59When I first entered this house,
38:01I was overwhelmed with a sense of chaos.
38:04So the aim of the reno has been to create the opposite.
38:08Hopefully this family can finally enjoy themselves
38:10and each other's company in a functional, calm and comfy home.
38:18Coming up...
38:21The awe-inspiring renovation is revealed.
38:25I love it.
38:26Oh, my God.
38:27This is fantastic.
38:35Harry, Sophie, Mark and Annie are about to see their transformed home.
38:41It'll be a whole new change, a new life for me and the family.
38:45I'm feeling very excited, also a bit apprehensive of what's been done.
38:50It'll be good to do stuff more as a family in the family areas
38:53rather than us going to our own little separate places.
38:56I just can't wait to get in there and start any life.
39:01Annie, Mark, Harry, Sophie,
39:03when we first walked into this room,
39:05you almost couldn't move.
39:07Remember, stuff piled high.
39:09You wanted a room that the family could share and spend time in.
39:13Well, on the count of three, I want you to open your eyes
39:17and check out your new family lounge room.
39:20One, two, three, open your eyes.
39:26Oh, jeez.
39:29Oh, my God.
39:30Wow.
39:34It's beautiful.
39:37Very good.
39:38Oh, my God.
39:38I love it.
39:41The living room is not only clutter-free,
39:44but there's now plenty of space for treasures
39:47and for the family to spend time together.
39:50Oh, I love the colour, the green.
39:52And I've got storage.
39:54A little bit, a little bit.
39:56That's how I only need a little bit now.
39:58I don't need a lot.
39:59Wow.
40:00Well, I love your house,
40:01and I love the fact that it does feel a little bit like a house in the tree.
40:05So I've really bought the outdoors in.
40:08We've painted right throughout these beautiful green colours.
40:11We've got the roller blinds that let light in.
40:14You've got lots of storage now,
40:16but I think the most important thing is
40:18you've now got a proper lounge room that you can sit as a family
40:21with gorgeous new furniture
40:23that has all these beautiful, earthy, nature-based tones.
40:27And we also tricked up your fireplace.
40:28So we've actually painted the fireplace with heat-resistant paint,
40:32and we've given you a completely new, different base.
40:35Fantastic.
40:35No, those tiles, I love them.
40:37Harry, what difference will this make for you and the family?
40:40I think we'll just bring us a lot closer together.
40:42We can have movie nights now.
40:45Sophie, what difference will this make for you now?
40:48I think it'll feel more like home for all of us.
40:52Well, this is only half of the space.
40:56What do you say we check out the other half here?
40:59Have a look.
41:13I love it.
41:18It looks ten times bigger.
41:20Have you seen your kitchen?
41:27The kitchen and dining room have been overhauled
41:30to regain their fundamental function of cooking
41:33and enjoying meals with family and friends.
41:37Wow.
41:38Oh, my God.
41:39This is fantastic.
41:41Well, myself and the wonderful team of tradies
41:43from Grey Army and Grey Care
41:45really wanted to create a beautiful dining room
41:48that you can sit properly as a family and eat together.
41:52We've got the beautiful lighting.
41:54We've got all of the green curtains and roller blinds.
41:58Look up on the wall,
41:59you'll notice a brand-new split-system aircon.
42:01So you now have working, heating and cooling.
42:04Woo-hoo!
42:05It's part of the house.
42:06Now, if you cast your eyes to the kitchen,
42:09we've cosmetically refreshed it.
42:10So it's the old kitchen.
42:12But what we've done is we've installed new benchtops for you.
42:15Fantastic.
42:15We've painted all of the cabinets.
42:17We've got new handles and those 70s blue tiles.
42:21Oh!
42:21Did you get rid of it?
42:22Yeah.
42:25So you've got beautiful vinyl flooring here now.
42:28It's perfect for a kitchen.
42:29If you spill something...
42:30It doesn't matter.
42:31It's so durable.
42:32So I'm calling this Sophie's Cafe.
42:37How is that going to work for you?
42:38I'm so excited.
42:40I can't wait.
42:42Ange?
42:43Annie, after our chat the other day,
42:45with all those rose petals,
42:47can you see anything in the middle there?
42:50Yes!
42:5130 years of rose collecting.
42:53I feel we can use it as a bit of art.
42:55Yes.
42:55That's beautiful.
42:57So every time I look at those, I can think of you.
42:59Yeah!
43:00Oh, that's a bit sweet.
43:04So how are you feeling about this?
43:07Oh, I now know what you mean by you can breathe.
43:10Because I honestly didn't realise.
43:12I can breathe.
43:13Oh, my dining setting.
43:16Mm-hmm.
43:17What does it mean for you to see that laid out here?
43:21You've got no idea.
43:22It means the world.
43:24It means the world to me that that's there.
43:26It's so special, that dinner set to me in so many levels.
43:30Oh, thank you.
43:35The spare room was crammed with so much clutter
43:38from Annie's deceased parents, it was unusable.
43:44Oh, my God!
43:55You love it?
43:56Oh.
44:00Oh, no, thank you.
44:03No.
44:07Now it's been reborn.
44:10With clutter-free surfaces and practical storage
44:14that offers Annie endless creative crafting possibilities
44:17for her own projects.
44:23I just love it so much.
44:27All of your machines are laid out.
44:30Check this out.
44:31When you're working...
44:33Oh!
44:34Do I need to iron the things I'm working on?
44:37It turns!
44:40It turns!
44:42This room says, come and be creative.
44:46Yep.
44:48And the artwork here is very deliberate.
44:50It's all about making things.
44:52That reminds me of my mother.
44:54Oh, and look, speaking of you, Mama, look who's up there.
44:57After our little chat, I thought she deserves a spot.
45:02She'd be so happy.
45:04It's so beautiful.
45:06Thank you so much.
45:10I'm just so overwhelmed and grateful.
45:13And moving forward as a family,
45:15I think this is going to make a huge change.
45:18We definitely will be able to share more times now around the table.
45:22It will just be out of this world.
45:26The mountains of generational clutter handed down from her parents
45:30left Annie deeply conflicted between honouring the past
45:34and embracing the bright new future in front of her.
45:38But by finding the treasures and letting the rest go,
45:42she discovered what's so much more important than stuff.
45:46Her own loving family.
45:49Who's cooking first?
45:50You.
45:51You.
45:54You.
