00:15Prince Caspian
00:16remains pretty faithful
00:18to the book.
00:19We're very fortunate in that we have a great
00:22relationship with the C.S. Lewis estate.
00:24Douglas Gresham, who is
00:26the stepson of C.S. Lewis
00:27is a constant source
00:29of knowledge and information.
00:32If we ever
00:33go somewhere that isn't in the book,
00:35we ensure that it isn't incongruous at all.
00:41Andrew Adamson and obviously
00:43the film production guys went to
00:45great lengths to recreate
00:47Miraz's castle. They actually built
00:49this enormous set. Such is
00:51the enormity of this castle
00:53that it actually spans two different
00:55levels of our game.
00:57We've also added things in there
00:59that people won't even know
01:00about having read books or
01:02seen the film.
01:04Miraz's castle is alive for the game.
01:07We're putting an awful lot
01:08of effort into making
01:10our next generation games
01:12really an evolution.
01:14Generally next gen consoles are just more powerful
01:16which means either you can make
01:17your levels bigger, your worlds more immersive
01:19or in the case of Caspian.
01:21I think we've just tried to put more detail in it.
01:23We've got new skin shaders.
01:24We're trying to work on hair and fur technologies.
01:27We're trying to integrate cloth.
01:29Just really subtle tweaks
01:30but all just make it look a little bit more convincing.
01:32Something as a designer that I really wanted to see
01:34in Prince Caspian the game
01:36was real physics.
01:38So they can pick up objects and smash them
01:40and there's barrels in the game you'll break
01:41and apples will spew out on the floor.
01:45A lot of the knockdowns and deaths you'll see
01:48are actually handled in code
01:49with a ragdoll system.
01:51And this is where the artist will set up
01:53a range of parameters on the skeleton
01:55which will allow it to move
01:57in a realistic way when it's tumbling
01:59through the air.
02:02Andrew Adamson has done
02:03a fantastic job of creating some
02:05very, very epic set piece battles
02:07in Prince Caspian.
02:09It's a huge challenge for us to try
02:11and recreate these in a video game.
02:18and what we've ended up with
02:19is a battle technology.
02:21It's pretty awe inspiring.
02:23Two, three, four hundred characters
02:25being drawn on screen
02:27interacting and fighting
02:28as naturally as we can.
