00:23Dark Spore is a new action RPG game from Maxis
00:26where players build a collection of genetic heroes
00:29each of which has their own unique abilities
00:31that can be used in combat
00:32and then you'll organize those heroes into squads
00:35you'll pick three different characters
00:37put them in a squad
00:37and these characters will have abilities
00:39that complement each other
00:41this was really inspired by card games
00:44like Magic the Gathering
00:45where you're not really picking up cards
00:47that are better than previous cards
00:48you're picking up cards that are more appropriate
00:50in different situations
00:52because every character in Dark Spore
00:53has its own unique sets of abilities
00:55they're always valuable
00:57so Magnus is a quantum sentinel
01:00that means he's a tank-like character
01:02with an assortment of crowd control abilities
01:04Magnus can push enemies with his kinetic wave ability
01:07pull enemies with his gravity well
01:09and freeze enemies using an ability called Dimensional Rick
01:13Blitz is a plasma ravager
01:15and as a ravager that means he's capable of doing a lot of damage
01:18but he doesn't have much armor to sustain damage done to him
01:21he has an ability called Ride the Lightning
01:23which allows him to teleport in and out of danger
01:25when he's surrounded by enemies
01:27he can use an ability called Plasma Wreath
01:29that damages all the enemies in his immediate vicinity
01:32having Blitz and Magnus in the same squad
01:34lets you have some interesting combo abilities
01:37Magnus can use his gravity well
01:38to pull a large group of enemy NPCs
01:40into Blitz's Plasma Wreath
01:42dealing damage to all of them at the same time
01:44Titan is a cyber sentinel
01:47his primary attack is a circular
01:49damaging all the enemies around him
01:52Titan's seismic smash will make sure that he is surrounded by NPCs
01:57and everyone affected by this ability will switch their attack to Titan
02:01Wraith is a necro sentinel
02:03that controls his enemies in a much different way
02:05his Death's Embrace ability not only inflicts damage
02:08but also frightens NPCs
02:10Wraith's Ghost Form ability
02:12gives him an additional 25% chance to dodge enemy attacks
02:16and ensures all ranged attacks pass right through him
02:19when Titan and Wraith are in the same squad
02:21the results are really helpful
02:23borrowing Wraith's Ghost Form ability
02:25shortly after using Titan's seismic smash
02:27will result in all of the NPCs focusing their fire on a target
02:31that's really difficult to hit
02:32so while those NPCs are failing to land their attacks
02:35Titan can then mow them down with his AOE attack
02:39so that's all about organizing heroes into squads
02:42and building a collection
