00:05Welcome to the Age of Conan Combat System Tutorial.
00:08Here we will show you the basics of fighting and combat in Age of Conan.
00:13To begin with we will show you how to move your character around.
00:17You can move your character with the standard WASD key setup.
00:22This moves you forward, backward and turns you to either side.
00:26You can strafe with the Z and C keys.
00:29To move quickly to a particular side, simply double tap the key for the direction you wish to go.
00:36This can only be done in combat mode.
00:39To sprint, hold down the shift key.
00:42While you will move faster for a short period of time, sprinting will drain your stamina, so use it wisely.
00:49At the bottom of your screen you will see three arrows.
00:52Attacks in Age of Conan are both directional and real-time, meaning that you have to choose the attack you
00:59want to do when you want to do it.
01:02For example, the overhead attack will attack straight on, while the other two will attack from the right and left.
01:10Some classes will gain more attack directions as they level up.
01:14To attack an enemy, you will need to have him in front of you and within range of your weapon.
01:19If you wish, you can activate auto-facing in the options menu.
01:24However, there is no auto-attack in Age of Conan.
01:28You will control the timing and direction of all melee attacks.
01:33Also note that attacks do damage to all enemies within range of your swing, not just the enemy you have
01:40targeted.
01:40The markings you see around each target are their shield indicators.
01:45These tell you where your enemy is focusing his defences.
01:50NPCs and player characters will adjust their defences in real-time, so you will need to watch how they fight
01:57and react accordingly, striking unguarded areas for the best damage.
02:02You can press the CTRL button to bring up your own shield icons, and use CTRL and the 1, 2
02:09and 3 keys to adjust your defences.
02:16Finally, we have the combo system.
02:19After completing your first quest, you will receive your first combo, which uses the broken ore you are carrying.
02:25To use it, simply click the button, or press the hot key for that combo.
02:31Then follow the directions that light up.
02:33Low-level combos may only require pressing one or two directions,
02:38while higher-level combos may require three or more button presses to execute.
02:43You will gain more combo attacks as you level up.
02:47Most combos will only work with a few styles of weapons,
02:50so choosing the right weapon for any given situation is quite critical.
02:55All combo attacks will also drain your stamina,
02:59so wise management of your stamina will be crucial in a combat situation.
03:03Finally, when combat is over, you can exit combat mode by pressing the slash key,
03:10or by clicking the toggle combat ability in your hotbar.
03:14Now we will cover the basics of magic in Age of Conan.
03:18You will see your spells broken down into two tabs,
03:22the friendly tab and the hostile tab.
03:26In the friendly tab, you will find spells that can be used on yourself,
03:30your group mates, and other friendly targets.
03:34These spells include self-buffs that enhance your power or defense,
03:40summons that let you call up new pets or allies,
03:44and healing spells.
03:46Healing spells in Age of Conan require aiming,
03:49as they heal in a cone in front of you,
03:52rather than just picking a target and pressing a button.
03:55In the hostile tab, you will find spells that do area of effect damage based on the caster's position,
04:09as well as single target spells that do damage or impair whichever target you aim it at.
04:15You will also find point-based area of effect spells.
04:19To use these, click the spell icon or press the associated hotkey.
04:24Then use the green targeting indicator to aim and cast your spell.
04:29Read each spell description carefully for clues about when and how to use it.
04:33Casting spells will also drain your mana bar.
04:37So know your limits and plan your battles carefully.
04:41Learning to use magic, combat and movement will be critical to surviving in Hyboria.
