00:01Hey Meta! What's 10 divided by zero?
00:16Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode of TechConnect.
00:20Now we all know and love the Ray-Ban Metaglasses.
00:23They have been really helpful for our community and allow people to do many things,
00:27including reading, identifying objects and more.
00:30And of course, you can see some of those things in our previous videos on the Metaglasses.
00:34But what happens when your Metaglasses go bad?
00:38That's right, they just stop working. They're not doing what you want them to do.
00:42Well, luckily, there are some troubleshooting tips that we can try.
00:45And in this video, we thought we'd take a look at some of those
00:47and see whether we can get your Metaglasses working again.
00:51So without further ado, let's jump in and see what to do when Meta goes bad.
00:58Okay, tip number one. It is the simplest but often is very effective.
01:02And this is simply closing the arms of the glasses and then opening them again.
01:07Very simple, but doing this will basically kind of disconnect the glasses from your phone.
01:11And then when you reopen the arms of the glasses, it will reconnect the glasses to your phone.
01:15And this often fixes any pairing issues.
01:18And so if your glasses just were not responding, then oftentimes this will do the trick.
01:23So definitely the first place to start. See if this fixes your issue.
01:26And if not, well, let's go ahead and look at number two.
01:33All right, tip number two if the last one didn't work.
01:36And this is going to involve the power button.
01:38Now the power button can be found as part of the left hinge on the inside of the glasses.
01:44And it's a circular button. Now this button, if it is slid to the left, that would mean that the
01:50glasses are actually completely turned off and won't respond to anything.
01:53So one thing to check is that that power switch is not slid to the left.
01:56If it is slid to the right, that means the glasses should be on.
01:59But if they're not working, what we can try and do is go ahead and turn off that power switch.
02:04So sliding it to the left.
02:06And then if we hold down the capture button, which is on top of the right side.
02:11And while we're holding that down, slide back on the power and keep the capture button held down for a
02:17few seconds.
02:21And then we can let go of the capture button.
02:23And this should basically kind of do a restart on the glasses.
02:28And hopefully that would fix any issues which you might have been having.
02:31So this is the next thing to try. Give it a try. See if it works.
02:35And if not, well, let's jump in to the next tip and take a look.
02:42Tip number three. And this one is a doozy. I've used this one many times myself.
02:47Tip number three is a factory reset on the glasses.
02:50Now, you do have to be aware that this is going to unpair the glasses from your phone,
02:54which means that you would have to go through the setup procedure again through the app.
02:58Once you have done this to get the glasses paired with your phone.
03:02So this is really only if you really have to do this, would you want to do this?
03:05But yeah, it definitely might be the case that the glasses just don't seem to be working.
03:09And this is a good troubleshooting step.
03:11So how do we do it? Well, first of all, we're going to take the glasses
03:15and we're going to fold in the right side.
03:18So the right side is closed and the left side is open.
03:21And then we're going to find that capture button on top of the right side.
03:25And we're going to press it five times. Yes, that's right. Five times.
03:28Let's count them. One, two, three, four, five.
03:31And the light, the LED light that is just underneath the right side will start glowing orange.
03:39And then we're going to hold down that capture button for a few seconds.
03:43And that orange light is going to change and it's going to become a flashing white light.
03:48This would start flashing between white and amber.
03:51And then after maybe 30 seconds, then it would start to flash blue.
03:55Now, the flashing blue is what we're looking for because that indicates that the glasses have gone back into Bluetooth
04:01pairing mode.
04:02And that means that they have factory reset and that they are ready to be paired to the phone again.
04:07So as long as you get to this flashing blue stage, you can go ahead and go into the app
04:11and set the glasses up again as you did when you initially got them.
04:15Now, do bear in mind this is going to delete all of your captures, all of your videos and everything.
04:19So this is like a completely fresh start, but it will often fix issues.
04:24So hopefully this tip will work.
04:26Give it a try and see how you get on.
04:30All right. Tip number four.
04:31Now, this one is a little bit different.
04:33This tip is related to what to do if other people can't hear you when you are on a phone
04:38call using your metaglasses.
04:40And this is this is going to be due to the microphone gain on the glasses and whether the glasses
04:46are touching the bridge of your nose when you're wearing them.
04:48So basically what you need to know is if people cannot hear you, well, there is a setting that we
04:53can change to fix that.
04:54So we're going to go ahead and open up the Meta AI app.
04:58We're going to make sure we tap on the glasses icon at the bottom right, and that should then show
05:02us a picture of our glasses.
05:04And at the bottom right of that picture, there is a settings cogwheel.
05:07We're going to go ahead and tap on that and that will put us into the settings for our metaglasses.
05:12Now, what we're going to do is scroll down and somewhere down toward kind of the bottom half of the
05:17list of settings, there is something called microphone troubleshooting.
05:21This is exactly what we want to do here.
05:23So we're going to tap on a microphone troubleshooting.
05:26There is only one option that we can do, and this is the option that you want.
05:31This is a little toggle switch that we can hit to turn on microphone adjustment.
05:36And once we have turned on that, the microphone gain is going to be changed.
05:40And so you should find that when you are talking to people on the phone with your metaglasses, they can
05:44now hear you very well.
05:46So if you are having trouble with this specific issue, this is the fix.
05:49Go ahead and try it.
05:50I think you will like the results.
05:55All right, it's time for the bonus round.
05:57That's right.
05:58This is tip number five, the secret tip.
06:00And this is to do with wear detection.
06:02So the metaglasses have a wear detection built in.
06:05This is a default mode.
06:06And what it means is when you put on the glasses, they know they are being worn and so they
06:11will turn on.
06:11But when you take them off, they know they've been taken off and they'll go to sleep to conserve them.
06:16Now, of course, this sounds like a great feature and it is for conserving battery.
06:20But I have had clients where when they put the glasses on, for some reason, the glasses don't know that
06:25they're being worn.
06:26And so they just won't work because they're still asleep.
06:29Obviously not an ideal situation.
06:30So what do we do?
06:32Well, luckily, it's pretty simple to fix.
06:34We will go into the Meta AI app and go to the settings.
06:38And once we are in the settings, we're going to go ahead and scroll down and we will get to
06:42something called wear detection.
06:43Now, this will be toggled on as per the default.
06:46But if we go ahead and hit the toggle switch, that's going to turn wear detection off.
06:51So what does this mean?
06:52Well, now, whenever we unfold the sides of the glasses, then the glasses are going to be on whether you're
06:58wearing them or not.
06:59So obviously this is going to be using battery.
07:01You have to bear this in mind.
07:02This will be using battery even if you're not wearing the glasses if the sides are open.
07:06But the nice thing is when you put them on, you know, they're going to be responsive because as long
07:10as the sides are open, they are operational and ready to go.
07:13So if you have been having trouble with this specific issue, go into your settings, change this and everything should
07:19be hunky dory.
07:23All right, that was the meta glasses and how to troubleshoot them.
07:26Now, hopefully some of these troubleshooting tips helped you.
07:29If none of them did, well, maybe your meta glasses are broken.
07:32You might want to seek a replacement pair.
07:34And this video talking of pairs, this video will pair very well with a previous video that we did.
07:39And hopefully that will be up in the cards.
07:41That video was this meta glasses trick changes everything or something like that anyway.
07:46And that will basically go through the settings and different things that you can change to make your meta glasses
07:50work well for you.
07:52But anyway, that was that. This was this. And that was this.
07:56And hopefully this video was helpful and we will look forward to seeing you in the next video.
08:01Goodbye for now.
08:10All right, guys, I'm glad that you've watched the whole video because I do have one secret little trick that
08:14I didn't want to tell the masses.
08:16Only those truly dedicated to the channel.
08:18If none of these tricks has helped your meta glasses, there is one more thing we can try.
08:22We're going to take the meta glasses, make sure you fold the sides so they're nice and secure.
08:27And then we're going to take them in one hand, doesn't matter which hand.
08:29And we're going to go ahead and throw them against the wall.
08:32That should do the trick.
08:34The bars and the blues and the bling bling bling bling.
08:38Very close.
