00:00Luke, what are we doing our video on today?
00:02Meta.
00:03Hey Luke, give me a detailed description.
00:05In today's video, we will be taking a look at the Metaglasses.
00:12Hey Luke, be quiet.
00:13I will not, you wound man.
00:22So in today's video, we are back on the Metaglasses train
00:25and we are checking out some of the more advanced features
00:28you might find in the Meta AI app.
00:30Corey has been hard at work investigating
00:32all of the cool stuff that you can do
00:34and he has got some exciting things to tell you.
00:36We have four things.
00:38Not three.
00:39No.
00:40Not five.
00:41No.
00:42Four. Why four?
00:43Well, four score, they say.
00:45What?
00:46Who said?
00:47Quick quiz.
00:49Who said four score?
00:51Oh, four score and something years.
00:53Seven, I believe.
00:54Something happened.
00:55Really?
00:56If you became a citizen and you don't know
00:59that Martin Luther King said...
01:01No, I'm just kidding.
01:02Abraham Lincoln.
01:04Alright, yeah.
01:05So we have a number of features built into the Metaglasses.
01:08We've talked about a bunch of them.
01:10You can see previous videos.
01:11They'll be up on cards or description below.
01:14But we're going to look at four features that we think
01:17should be turned on, if not already turned on.
01:20Or turned off.
01:22Well, that's true.
01:23You may not actually want them on.
01:24You can choose.
01:25But we're going to look at four features that we think make the Metaglasses
01:29a little bit more beneficial for people with vision loss.
01:33So let's get to it.
01:37Alright, feature number one.
01:39By default, you know that you need to say, hey Meta, in order to interact with your glasses.
01:45But with our little tip here, you can actually turn that off if you choose not to want to speak to your glasses.
01:52What you're going to do is head over to the Meta AI app on your phone.
01:56You're going to tap on the settings for your specific Meta glasses.
02:00Tap on Meta AI and then Hey Meta Preferences.
02:04And in there you're going to see a toggle to turn off that Hey Meta and OK Meta.
02:10Once you toggle that setting on or off, depending on which way you want it.
02:15Once you have that done, you're going to go ahead and just hold your finger on the right arm of the glasses.
02:22Hold for, I don't know, maybe a second, second and a half.
02:25You'll hear the normal Hey Meta listening sound.
02:28And now you can give your glasses responses without having to say the trigger phrase first.
02:37Alright, let's move on to feature number two.
02:39This feature is actually new.
02:42So you are able to ask your Meta glasses for a description of what's in front of you.
02:48For example, I have a card here.
02:51And if I simply say, what's in front of me?
02:57You are holding a birthday card.
03:00OK, very generic kind of description.
03:03Just telling me it's a birthday card, not giving me very much detail at all.
03:08But if you would like more detail, then this new feature is perfect for you.
03:13You're going to go to the settings app, go to the settings for your device.
03:18You're going to look down under the accessibility heading and look for detailed responses.
03:23In there, you're going to see all of the detail that's going to now be spoken.
03:28They're going to talk about quantity of chairs and doors, things like that.
03:32And down at the bottom is where we can enable that feature.
03:35So let's turn it on and see how our description changes.
03:39Alright, now that it's on, let's check out if we get a different response.
03:45What's in front of me?
03:49You're holding a greeting card with the design and the words, Happy Birthday on it.
03:54Now that's still not as detailed as I think it can be.
03:59Now, sometimes you might not want always to get a detailed description.
04:03So maybe this isn't a feature you want to turn on.
04:06So if that feature is turned off at any time, you can still ask your metaglasses for a detailed description.
04:14So you almost get kind of the best of both worlds.
04:16So let's just quickly ask it for a detailed description and see if it's a little bit different.
04:23Give me a detailed description of what's in front of me.
04:29You're in a room with a table in front of you.
04:31The table is made of wood and has a smooth surface.
04:34There are a few objects on the table, including a pair of glasses case and a box of tissues.
04:39In the background, there is a white board and a few cabinets.
04:42You're holding a card with a floral design and the words Happy Birthday written on it.
04:47So as you can tell, when I asked for a detailed description, I got even more details.
04:52So I think it might be safest to just ask for a detailed description in order to get the most amount of details.
05:03OK, so feature number three in Meta AI is to have the metaglasses announce calls and or text messages to you.
05:11Now you can find these things in the communications button.
05:15So if you go to your Meta AI app and go into your glasses, find the communications button.
05:20And the option to announce calls is going to be right there in that menu.
05:24And if you toggle that on, then obviously it's going to go ahead and announce calls as they come in.
05:29As you are going to hear right now.
05:31Now the ability to have text messages announced and read aloud is found in a similar place.
05:41So we're going to go to Meta AI.
05:42We're going to go into our glasses, find the communications button, and then we're going to find the phone button and go into there.
05:49And in there, we're going to find two options.
05:51One is going to be to announce messages.
05:54So just let us know that we've received a text message.
05:56And then the other one is going to be for reading those text messages automatically to us as we are going to hear right now.
06:03Message on your phone from Luke Scriven saying this is the greatest video I've ever done.
06:08So those are some great features if you need to get a bit more audible information.
06:12However, Corey, if you are a voiceover user, which I heard that you were.
06:16That's me.
06:17I'm ready to pay attention.
06:19Was not sleeping.
06:21If you have a voiceover user and you have these things in the Meta AI app turned on, you will get a double announcement.
06:28One from a voiceover letting you know that you've received a text message or a phone call and reading the message.
06:33And then one from Meta AI.
06:34That's a little bit too much information probably for most people.
06:37Yeah.
06:38Yeah.
06:39And so you would want to either turn off voiceover or not have those features enabled in Meta AI.
06:44Whichever you would like to do.
06:47The preference is yours.
06:48It is indeed.
06:49And with that being said, it's time for feature number four.
06:55Final feature number four, four score and seven.
06:58Abraham Lincoln would be proud.
06:59Feels like it's been seven years.
07:01I'll tell you that much.
07:02That's taken a surprisingly long time to film this video.
07:05Number four is going to be the option to adjust the microphone.
07:08I have had some clients, Corey, who the microphone hasn't been the greatest quality.
07:12It's funny because I hadn't experienced this issue at all.
07:15But obviously if they've added this in, it's been a known issue.
07:20It has been a known issue and the microphones are in the bridge of the nose.
07:24And depending on your nose, if your nose isn't close enough to those microphones, it might not pick up your voice very well.
07:30So when you're on a phone call, people can't hear you very well.
07:33Or if you're trying to even say, hey, Meta, it just can't pick you up very well.
07:36But never fear.
07:37There is a solution.
07:38We're going to go into our Meta AI app.
07:40We're going to go to our glasses settings and we're going to scroll down and we will find an option there for troubleshooting the microphone.
07:48And if we go into that, there is a switch that we can engage.
07:51And this will basically boost the microphones as far as I can tell, Corey.
07:55Sure.
07:56And when it does that, then people will be able to hear you better and the glasses will be able to hear you better.
08:00So get boosting if you're having trouble.
08:06We know that the Meta glasses are a huge benefit to people who are blind or visually impaired.
08:11And hopefully these four features will make your glasses even better.
08:16I know they sure made mine better, Corey.
08:18And with that being said, something else that will make your life better is our live show.
08:22That's right.
08:23We do a live show, me and Corey, unfiltered, live and raw, coming at you through YouTube.
08:28So you're watching this on our YouTube channel, presumably.
08:31And if you just stay on here for like a week, then you'll see our live show.
08:34Just stay forever.
08:35Just stay forever.
08:36It's every other Thursday, 11 a.m. Central, where we cover various assistive technology topics.
08:41So check it out.
08:42If you've got other features that you love about your Meta glasses, throw them down in the comments.
08:47We'd appreciate it.
08:48Make sure you subscribe to the channel.
08:50It really does help.
08:51And go check out techconnect.vision-forward.org, where you'll find a bunch more content and
08:57you can keep up to date with what we are doing.
09:01So with that, stay tuned.
09:03Goodbye.
09:04Goodbye.
09:05We should have been making Fantastic Four references.
09:23references. Oh, we could have. Why? Four features. Four features. That are fantastic. Four fantastic
09:30features for you. Especially because that is actually timely at the moment. Yeah, never mind.
09:35Abraham Lincoln isn't so timely at the moment. Dude, Abraham Lincoln's always timely.
09:40This is Luke calling. Pick up the phone. This is Luke texting. I love to text people.
09:53What's in front of you, and you will get a little bit of a crap in your pants.
09:58How about these glasses? On to the demonstration.
