00:23Hello, my name is Dozi Kanu.
00:26We're standing inside of an installation that I created here for the ICA in Milan.
00:34I was first brought this project last year,
00:38and I was asked to respond to an installation by Mark Camille Chaimowicz
00:46that he had dedicated to Ginkaku.
00:49Initially, it was just only going to be comprised of my work,
00:53but I think in the spirit of Mark Camille's initial installation,
01:02it made sense for me to try and include my work within the context of artists
01:09that I feel have pushed me or informed a lot of the work that I do.
01:17And to me, that felt like a more authentic type of mirroring of what he has done.
01:25And I'm quite proud of the results, I would say.
01:29particularly this vinyl record holder that I've included a lot of very influential records
01:39that I feel are very important to my growth,
01:43which people have the opportunity and are allowed to actually play on this vinyl record player
01:50that's sitting in the corner.
01:52And another piece that I'm quite proud of is the crucifix piece.
01:57It's titled Weighing Forgiveness in Light Of,
02:02which I think is kind of a play on words made from a weighing scale and fiberglass that was dyed
02:14purple.
02:14Right now, there's a performance taking place with the work of Pierre Hui, who's a French artist.
02:23I'm not sure exactly when the first iteration of this performance took place,
02:29but we simply have one of the lights being covered over one of the performers' faces.
02:36And then, amongst that, we also have a performance dedicated to one of Cinzia Ruggeri's works,
02:45where we have a model who has placed her dress over a table top.
02:52And all of this is kind of dealing with the domestic, kind of,
02:56in relation to Marc Camille's initial installation.
03:00So I think it's all working, not a literal mirror, it's not a literal mirror of one another,
03:08but it's my personal take on what Marc Camille was doing in terms of multidisciplinary attitudes.
