00:00Indeed, well, beyond policies and politics and candidates themselves,
00:03one of the critical questions has indeed been turnout.
00:06And we know that because last week was one of the historical low turnouts across the nation at around 57%.
00:14What we do know as well, however, is that today at midday there was around 20.3% turnout,
00:21which was up on the 2020 level and also 2014.
00:26So a slight uptick, but let's remember that 2020 was a COVID year.
00:32Here in Paris itself, also a slight trend of higher voter turnout this week at 14.6% versus 13
00:41.89% a week earlier.
00:43And the polling station behind me told me as well how actually there was around 500 voters out of 1
00:52,200 in total
00:54are expected here at the polling station, 769 at the end of last week.
01:02So again, a slight uptick overall.
01:05Now, Jamie, the Paris Mayor's Race is one of the races that's made it to this second round.
01:12What's at stake here?
01:16Indeed. Well, it is a high stakes contest.
01:20And what we know is that we have three lists running here with Emmanuel Grégoire with the left wing list,
01:28who was at the top last week.
01:30Rashida Dati of Les Républicains, who is also the second list of the three possible options for electors here in
01:38Paris.
01:39And Sophia Chikirou of La France Insoumise, of the hard left.
01:45We also know that during the week, Pierre-Yves Bournazel of the Centrist Horizons and Renaissance,
01:50well, he himself stepped out of the race, but a number of people on his list joined Rashida Dati,
01:57the Republican Conservative list, and also Sarah Knaffo, ReconquĂȘte, the far-right candidate.
02:05She stepped out of the race earlier this week.
02:09So more to learn later today.
02:11Polling stations close around 8 p.m. this evening.
02:14We'll know much more later into the night.
