00:00:00Let's see, ok, there we go.
00:00:04And we're live.
00:00:05All right.
00:00:11So we're broadcasting good here?
00:00:13Yeah, I think so.
00:00:14All right, well thanks everybody for bearing with us on that slight delay.
00:00:18We are Team Dakota from Project Spark,
00:00:20and we wanted to set up a little bit of a surprise for you here,
00:00:23but it took a little more mobility than we were ready for.
00:00:26You should have said we had eight people in Project Spark shirts just running around.
00:00:30And that whole thing of like we have our best people on it, we had our best people on it.
00:00:34So Project Spark is an open world digital canvas that lets you create games, stories, movies,
00:00:39anything that you can imagine, and then share it with the world.
00:00:43So what we're going to show you here, I'm going to take the camera,
00:00:46so hopefully we've got some motion tolerance.
00:00:48This is high-tech stuff here.
00:00:48Motion tolerance here.
00:00:49This is...
00:00:50So this is James Lewis.
00:00:52Hey, James.
00:00:52James Lewis.
00:00:53You may know him from the dancing troll scene.
00:00:57Yeah, when you saw that, that was James.
00:00:59And we are going to fire up some Kinect capture here.
00:01:03So we're going to show you the troll dancing.
00:01:05So James, go ahead and take it.
00:01:07All right, here we go.
00:01:08So we don't have music on the spot.
00:01:10But I'll make it up.
00:01:10So we can...
00:01:12Can you...
00:01:13Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up.
00:01:16All the trolls in the house say,
00:01:18Hey!
00:01:19Hey!
00:01:20Ho!
00:01:22Ho!
00:01:23Oh, that's going to be awesome.
00:01:25I'm a designated dancer.
00:01:26I'm a team.
00:01:27And here we go.
00:01:28Here's the playback of our troll.
00:01:30And we can go in here and we can edit.
00:01:32So we can crop this animation, speed it up, grab the frame we want.
00:01:36Go ahead to the other side.
00:01:38Woo!
00:01:39End it right there.
00:01:40Save it off and put it in our game.
00:01:43So there we go.
00:01:44Sweet.
00:01:44And so...
00:01:45Thanks, James.
00:01:46Henry, can you talk a little bit about how you see this being used by people in the game?
00:01:50So let's put this back.
00:01:50So you can use this to create your own animations.
00:01:53Do things like replace some of the attacks.
00:01:58And I think obviously what everybody's kind of wondering is, yes, it records your voice.
00:02:03It records your facial expressions, so eyebrows, jaw movement.
00:02:09You can actually see the jaw moving to the side.
00:02:11So you open your mouth.
00:02:12It records all that stuff.
00:02:13So you can go ahead, and it was funny because when we did this we kind of codenamed it Shakespeare
00:02:16in the Park.
00:02:17And the idea was that you could do your own kind of cinematics with it.
00:02:21Right.
00:02:21So let's get rolling on some of the plan that we had today and get Keith over and fire some
00:02:28stuff up.
00:02:28Hold on.
00:02:29People are saying, oh, Mike's the bald guy, so I'm going to put on my hat.
00:02:32Oh, you need a chair?
00:02:33Do you want to get more chairs?
00:02:35Yes.
00:02:35So Keith's here.
00:02:36Keith is the guy that does the dungeon that we want to show you guys.
00:02:41We know everybody's been asking about seeing what happens with Kinect Capture on Project Sparks.
00:02:47We wanted to kind of get that in there.
00:02:48Sorry for starting late.
00:02:50Nothing's as easy as you think it is.
00:02:54What's going on, guys?
00:02:55We just had too much fun with our troll dance party.
00:02:58I don't know.
00:02:58Did you hear that from outside?
00:02:59I definitely heard that.
00:03:00We might have disrupted some work today.
00:03:02That's okay.
00:03:03All right.
00:03:03So Keith is here with us.
00:03:05I want to kind of, can we start off?
00:03:07You've got your level loaded here.
00:03:08Hey, wait, wait.
00:03:09Who's Keith?
00:03:09Let's switch over.
00:03:10Keith, who are you?
00:03:12I am...
00:03:12How do you pronounce your last name?
00:03:13It's a French name like mine, and I still can't pronounce it.
00:03:15It's pronounced Roger.
00:03:17Roger.
00:03:17I am a designer on Project Spark.
00:03:19I work on the tutorials.
00:03:20I work on tile descriptions.
00:03:24I used to work on making levels and stuff.
00:03:26And generally, I'm a disappointment to my mother.
00:03:29Wow.
00:03:30That's...
00:03:31How often does she remind you?
00:03:33Constantly.
00:03:34And I remind her when she calls.
00:03:36That's right.
00:03:36I don't pick up the phone.
00:03:37Right, right.
00:03:38My dad's still saying, you never get anywhere playing those video games.
00:03:42And he's still convinced of that.
00:03:43My parents are trying to figure out what else I would ever do.
00:03:45Some of the rest of us.
00:03:47Can you imagine Henry on the street without...
00:03:49Yeah, that would be bad.
00:03:50A carpenter or something?
00:03:51Hey, I'll build your deck.
00:03:53Can I get like plus four to this piece of wood?
00:03:55And if you climb up the ladder here, we really should get like a stinger that's like...
00:03:59Like, can we get all that stuff?
00:04:01Headed to the deck.
00:04:03I'll just...
00:04:03I can buy like a monkey and put him on top there.
00:04:06Hey, guys, I don't know.
00:04:07We've got a live stream going over here.
00:04:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:04:09So I'm Henry Cerci, creative director at Project Spark.
00:04:11And this is Mike, the other guy with a difficult to pronounce name.
00:04:14And we are the largest we've ever been on screen.
00:04:15So thank you, Mike.
00:04:17That was a funny joke about me.
00:04:18The ring is down.
00:04:19Oh, wow.
00:04:20Oh, man.
00:04:21Your mom sent that in to us.
00:04:22So guys, just for everybody taking notes at home, I want to say that we were just showing
00:04:27what we were showing with the capture that was on the Xbox One using the Kinect capture.
00:04:32and now we switched over to our 1.8 version, which is the development version that Keith's
00:04:37been working on this level in.
00:04:39So we're going to show that there and he's using an Xbox 360 controller on a PC.
00:04:44Right.
00:04:45And I wanted to take a second to just introduce people who are unfamiliar to the game.
00:04:50So Project Spark allows you to create your own worlds and stories.
00:04:54And we talked about some of that stuff.
00:04:56But, you know, you do it basically with four key components.
00:04:58And I don't know if you can maybe show it off here in a safe corner of the level.
00:05:01Sure.
00:05:02But you can go ahead and you can easily sculpt your world in full 3D.
00:05:06So maybe Keith will show us some of that.
00:05:08Yup.
00:05:09So here we go.
00:05:09So he's going to dive in.
00:05:10He just went from play to edit.
00:05:12And that's one of the big things about Project Spark is that playing is creating.
00:05:15And you can very easily get in and out of your levels and test them.
00:05:20And the whole idea is that you make something and try it.
00:05:23Make something and try it.
00:05:24So, you know, it's something that is really iterative.
00:05:27And that's one of the powers of the tools.
00:05:29So here Keith is just doing a bit of an expand.
00:05:31You might want to do some add.
00:05:32So expand is actually pulling the terrain and it's sculpting it in real 3D.
00:05:37You can go ahead and you can add terrain and put it in different shapes.
00:05:40You can go ahead and paint your world.
00:05:43So that's another thing that's really easy to do.
00:05:45Our paint is really smart.
00:05:47It matches the surfaces.
00:05:48So when you paint the top, you get nice peaks.
00:05:50When it paints the bottom, you get nice ground.
00:05:52And then the sides, you get nice sides.
00:05:54So here he's painting a little bit of a mountain that he's starting up.
00:05:56Actually, I did paint a mountain.
00:05:58Very nice.
00:05:58Oh, there he is.
00:06:00It's just like a cooking show.
00:06:01Where's the birds circling?
00:06:04The birds.
00:06:04There's not enough oxygen out there so they die.
00:06:06Oh, right.
00:06:06That's great.
00:06:07And that's something you can set in the settings?
00:06:09Oxygen?
00:06:10Yeah, you can set the oxygen level in the settings.
00:06:13And then, of course, the big thing is everything in the world has a brain.
00:06:16And that means that everything can be given behavior.
00:06:18And how do you do that is you go in and you use our visual programming language.
00:06:22And it is a full visual programming language, but it is broken down into a when and a do side.
00:06:28So very easily you can do simple things like you see at the bottom here, left stick.
00:06:32So when left stick, do move.
00:06:34And the magic is it's a visual programming language.
00:06:37It gives you recommendations, what we call tile compatibility.
00:06:39So when you put something in and you were to go over to jump and you were to put something
00:06:43or go to move and add something to move.
00:06:46Instead of having a full array of anything, go ahead and just add something to move real quick.
00:06:50Sure.
00:06:52You would see here it gives you a specific set of options.
00:06:55So move with strafing, move with flying, and you can just explore and you can just keep trying and doing
00:07:00things like that to build out your behaviors.
00:07:04All right, so let's fire up your level and give us the super tour.
00:07:07So Keith was building this in his spare time.
00:07:10Yeah, I was coming in on the weekend because I'm a loser and don't have anything else to do.
00:07:12And it's indicative of sort of what were you shooting for here?
00:07:17So what was your motivation?
00:07:18My motivation was originally, I'm a huge MMO fan, a huge Legend of Zelda fan.
00:07:24And I wanted to create like a Zelda style encounter.
00:07:27I was originally playing Skyward Sword.
00:07:30And I got to a stage there, a boss that I really liked.
00:07:35So I wanted to kind of create a, I guess a boss encounter that was scripted and heavily influenced by
00:07:43Zelda.
00:07:44And then it just kind of exploded as most of the stuff I work on usually does.
00:07:48So that's, again, one of the really interesting things about Project Spark is when you think about a lot of
00:07:51games, you know, they have a very linear kind of progression.
00:07:54They challenge you in very specific ways.
00:07:56In Project Spark, as you dive in and start getting, you know, doing a jump, then you're like, well, can
00:08:00I do a double jump?
00:08:01And can I do a jumping attack and stuff like that?
00:08:04So you start really getting into just this kind of thing where you're challenging yourself.
00:08:09So you basically started with a simple concept and started getting yourself kind of a full out level.
00:08:13I'll actually show you guys what I started with.
00:08:16This area out here I did with the biome brush because planting a bunch of trees and plants takes a
00:08:21lot of time sometimes.
00:08:24And the biome brush is really fantastic for just laying down groundwork.
00:08:28So the biome brush confines painting and objects into one function.
00:08:34So you can very easily bring life into your world.
00:08:37Some of the objects that show up in the biome brush already have brains on them and do things.
00:08:41But, like Keith was saying, kind of the flip side of that is you can get super finite and you
00:08:46can go in and you can move an individual rock.
00:08:47You can go ahead and really get down into the individual flower if that's what you want to do for
00:08:52your level.
00:08:53So for people that are asking that are new, the game is called Project Spark.
00:08:57It'll be available on Xbox One, Windows 8 and Xbox 360.
00:09:03It runs on Surface Pros, so it's a great portable experience as well or experience on your Surface Pro.
00:09:09I've made a cool blackjack game on the Surface Pro.
00:09:11And one of the really cool things about being across platforms is it's not just that you can play them
00:09:17with touch or a controller or a mouse and keyboard,
00:09:19but you can actually make games with those inputs.
00:09:22And the real goal of Project Spark is to make people's imagination come to life.
00:09:25And being able to make touch-based games or controller-based games or actually even combine them in some ways,
00:09:30we've done some of that too, really opens up tons of possibilities.
00:09:33So if you're liking what you see, www.projectspark.com.
00:09:37Sign up for the beta.
00:09:38We've got a beta coming in October.
00:09:41Win 8, beta on Win 8, starting in October.
00:09:45End of October, I'm guessing.
00:09:46But, you know, we said it's October, but I'm just kind of edgy.
00:09:48So one of the things that have come up, and this is why we wanted to grab Keith's sort of
00:09:52level in progress here.
00:09:54Keith, they can't see you enough, so they've got to move on.
00:09:57So to show Keith's level in progress here is one of the things that have been coming up is interiors.
00:10:01How deep can you go with, you know, interiors?
00:10:05Quick question, Keith, D&D.
00:10:07Did you play it?
00:10:07Have you played it?
00:10:08Do you like it?
00:10:09Um, that's a question that should stay in my mother's basement.
00:10:14But, uh...
00:10:15It's Pinocchio, you know.
00:10:16Right, right, right.
00:10:17You're a bigger magic player.
00:10:18I'm a huge magic player, yeah.
00:10:20A lot of Magic the Gathering.
00:10:21I tried playing D&D once, but it was too slow.
00:10:24So I went with Magic the Gathering.
00:10:28So Keith, tell us some of what you did to build your interior.
00:10:30Okay, so what I did is I started out with the idea that I wanted to build an interior.
00:10:37That's always good.
00:10:39That's really good.
00:10:41And I wanted to build kind of like a forge area.
00:10:44And I wanted to have this troll be this huge hellsmith and there would be a scripted encounter in there.
00:10:52So I built the forge area and then I built a door up to it.
00:10:55After I'm done running through the level, I'll show you guys actually how I made this door.
00:10:58That's cool.
00:10:59So you have a torch here that's flickering.
00:11:01Yes.
00:11:02So how did you do that?
00:11:03I literally just...
00:11:04There's a light prop that you can put in the game.
00:11:08So it's just as easy as adding any other prop or object to the world.
00:11:11Absolutely, yeah.
00:11:11You can color whatever light you want the light to emit.
00:11:15And then you can go in and set it to flickering and how often you want that to flicker.
00:11:20It's really cool.
00:11:21It's kind of a cool effect.
00:11:22Yeah, it is.
00:11:22At first I'm like, oh my god, is there something wrong?
00:11:24Why is this going?
00:11:25Keith's like, oh no, that's intentional.
00:11:26I'm like, oh.
00:11:27Dynamic lighting.
00:11:28Why do you never see...
00:11:29This is a question from the chat.
00:11:30We always see these small characters with these giant swords.
00:11:33Why does anybody make a big character with a little tiny sword?
00:11:36I'm going to make that game.
00:11:38And you can too.
00:11:39I think it's all about range envy.
00:11:41Yeah, it is.
00:11:41It really is.
00:11:43No one likes small swords.
00:11:44When the tail of the tape comes out and somebody's just got that range.
00:11:47Right, yeah.
00:11:48It's going to be tough.
00:11:49Yeah.
00:11:50I think a lot of respect too goes to Sephiroth.
00:11:53Oh yes, true.
00:11:54Back in the final past seven days.
00:11:56So this is the area I originally made.
00:11:59I started out by actually making this circular staircase.
00:12:04And that's actually one staircase prop that's straight.
00:12:07And I was just really meticulous about creating a ring out of them.
00:12:12I put a bunch of rulers down.
00:12:13We have like a ruler prop in the game that I think is like 10 meters.
00:12:16And I put a bunch of those end on end.
00:12:19And...
00:12:20So that's something a bunch of people have asked about.
00:12:21It's like what kind of grid things do we have in the game to make your levels?
00:12:24Yeah.
00:12:25So we know when you're building stuff, spacing can be really important for certain game types.
00:12:28So we have a grid that we can overlay on stuff.
00:12:30We actually have when you're sculpting, we have a grid that you can snap to when you're sculpting.
00:12:34Which really helps when you're in touch mode.
00:12:36But the other thing that we allow you to do is actually snap your objects to the grid.
00:12:39So you can move them in, what is it, 45 degree chunks?
00:12:42Yes.
00:12:42So that makes it really easy to snap them to certain degrees if you want to do things like line
00:12:46stuff up in a row.
00:12:47That's actually how most of this is made.
00:12:48The thing that really impressed me here was you got a great atmosphere going.
00:12:51That is pretty awesome.
00:12:52From smoke?
00:12:53Like what are you doing to get like that atmosphere?
00:12:55That's actually like an ambient cloud property or effect.
00:12:59And I colored it orange.
00:13:01And I don't know if you guys can see this on the stream, but there are embers floating around in
00:13:05the air.
00:13:06And I took the firefly prop, which is like something we were supposed to have for woodlands.
00:13:10And I colored them red and it makes it look like there's embers floating around.
00:13:15And I think a cool thing to point out is what Keith has done here.
00:13:17Like this isn't, he didn't have the art team come in and do it.
00:13:20He just took everything that was there and just cobbled this whole thing together.
00:13:24And I really wanted to show this off because I mean it just shows the creativity of what you can
00:13:27do, interior.
00:13:29I think what's really cool about it too is like why is he floating?
00:13:32He's T-posing.
00:13:34Where's James? Get him back.
00:13:34The troll is just, James is standing somewhere like this.
00:13:37Ah yes.
00:13:38So this troll has a bug.
00:13:40This troll has a little bit of a bug to him.
00:13:42But there is a bit of a scripted encounter I'm working on right here where these forges light up in
00:13:49succession.
00:13:50They'll keep going around in a circle.
00:13:51And you have to keep this guy inside the stream.
00:13:55So do you not have damage on that fire on you?
00:13:57No, I don't have damage on the fire on me right now.
00:13:59But we will.
00:14:01We will.
00:14:02And once you get his molten level, which is that yellow bar that's filling up to a hundred,
00:14:07you can then, his, oh no.
00:14:12Let's go over to this one.
00:14:13Oh, his level drops.
00:14:14Yeah, his level drops.
00:14:15Because of the fire.
00:14:16Yep.
00:14:17So it's turned his legs to slag.
00:14:18And you called him Garm.
00:14:19Yeah, I called him Garm.
00:14:20You might want some Norse mythology there.
00:14:22And then you activate this and water starts pouring in from these vents.
00:14:25Oh, that's cool.
00:14:25And flooding the room.
00:14:26Oh, wow.
00:14:27And then he gets stunned and steam shoots out of him.
00:14:32And then water stops.
00:14:34The water will, you know, go down.
00:14:36Wow.
00:14:36And now we can hit him after the water goes down.
00:14:38You gotta turn the fire off.
00:14:39Yeah.
00:14:40Gotta turn the fire off.
00:14:41Wow, that's pretty cool.
00:14:42And then we hit him.
00:14:43And then he says, I don't like you.
00:14:46And then knocks me away at some point.
00:14:48I don't know.
00:14:48This feels like one of those annoying boss fights we used to get in MMOs.
00:14:51Yeah, pretty much.
00:14:52I think that's what you were kind of going for.
00:14:53He goes and grabs a sword off the wall.
00:14:56And this is what I'm working on right now.
00:14:57He'll actually start.
00:14:58Oh, there we go.
00:14:59Look at that.
00:15:00And then one time, one time I hit him.
00:15:03He was putting a world of hurt on you there.
00:15:04He was putting a world of hurt on me.
00:15:05Yeah, I didn't like it.
00:15:06It felt pretty poorly.
00:15:08That's pretty cool.
00:15:09So, how did you do that?
00:15:10Tell us some of the creative process behind it.
00:15:13Because I think what's awesome is, you know, when I hear you go through this level, you've
00:15:16got such a story behind it.
00:15:18Yeah.
00:15:18And this is something you've always wanted to make.
00:15:20Yeah, pretty much.
00:15:22I really wanted to make an encounter like this.
00:15:25There's a story behind him.
00:15:26There's a story behind this castle.
00:15:28I just wanted to...
00:15:30So people are asking about transparency sliders for objects and making things opaque and stuff
00:15:35like that.
00:15:36So you can turn objects invisible.
00:15:38You can.
00:15:38And you can color objects.
00:15:40And I believe you can get them to be somewhat transparent.
00:15:44Right.
00:15:45Some, somewhat.
00:15:46We can take the color away from them.
00:15:48I don't know if transparency is...
00:15:49Is quite the right word?
00:15:50Yeah.
00:15:51Yeah.
00:15:51I'm not sure what I...
00:15:53But you can also flicker it on and off.
00:15:55Yeah.
00:15:55You can ghost it out and do a hologram.
00:15:57And that sort of gives it the transparency.
00:15:58So that's how I would do it.
00:16:00I would use the hologram tile.
00:16:01Yes.
00:16:02Absolutely.
00:16:02And that's how I would get transparent.
00:16:03Yeah.
00:16:04So pretty much you can do it like that.
00:16:06And that's the thing that we've covered before a couple times.
00:16:08But I think it's so important about Project Spark is because it has a full visual programming
00:16:12language.
00:16:13One of the things we wanted to make sure that we did is we kind of scaffold things.
00:16:17We make it so that things are designed in layers.
00:16:19So you can go in.
00:16:20You can program a brain from scratch.
00:16:22You can just grab things and throw it down in your world and have it work, right?
00:16:25Like we saw some stuff that Slayton was working on earlier today where now, you know, when
00:16:30beta hits, when you just pick up a torch, it just goes right in your hand, fire turns on,
00:16:34and it just works.
00:16:36So things just work.
00:16:37They have default properties.
00:16:38You can go in and you can remix stuff and just change like a couple lines of the code.
00:16:43So there's lots of different layers on how you want to interact with the brains.
00:16:46And there's lots of different ways to do things and accomplish things.
00:16:48So I would use the hologram.
00:16:50You might flick the invisibility on and off.
00:16:53There's a bunch of different ways to do things.
00:16:54That is cool.
00:16:55How did you get the gears?
00:16:57The gears are just like a prop that we have in game.
00:17:01And I put a simple code on them to, I think it's roll with a speed of two.
00:17:07And then I took a giant stone ring.
00:17:09So now that's a man that's been living his level.
00:17:11Yeah.
00:17:11Roll with a speed of two.
00:17:12Yeah, pretty much.
00:17:13Like I really had an idea.
00:17:16Like I drew this all out on paper.
00:17:17Like I knew what I wanted to do for the scripting encounter, which I'm still kind of working on.
00:17:21That's cool.
00:17:22I can actually show you guys if we have time, like how I did some of the rotation.
00:17:27So some of the stuff that people have been asking about, ceilings.
00:17:29Right?
00:17:30You've got a ceiling here.
00:17:31Yeah.
00:17:31Okay.
00:17:32Well, that is a ceiling.
00:17:33Jeez.
00:17:34Holy crap.
00:17:35Is that like, wow.
00:17:35Dude, how did this take you?
00:17:37Have we been paying him for this?
00:17:38No, I've been coming in on my weekends.
00:17:41I've been surprised.
00:17:42Like, you know, when it comes down to like really precise things and like balancing out
00:17:45the gameplay, things take longer.
00:17:47But man, you can rough something in like this really quick.
00:17:49And that's really the magic of the tool.
00:17:51Well, it's one of those things where you think about how much time all of us as gamers
00:17:54spend in games.
00:17:55Yeah.
00:17:55And it's like, you know, these guys just like, they get so into it, this is their game.
00:17:58Well, it's just like everything else too, right?
00:18:00Like, you know, we talked about it last stream, like with muscle memory and things like that.
00:18:04But as you start getting like, hey, this worked for this, so now I'm going to use it for this
00:18:08and this worked for this.
00:18:09Like, things get faster and faster.
00:18:12You all right there?
00:18:13What?
00:18:13No, you know, nothing going on.
00:18:14What are you talking about?
00:18:15Did I have dust on my head?
00:18:16Is that what it was?
00:18:17Everybody said it looked like there was a big smudge in his face.
00:18:19So you've got like a ballista catapult thing?
00:18:21Yeah, I made a...
00:18:22Not my face is like that in real life.
00:18:24I made a ballista.
00:18:25I took a bunch of props and just kind of stuck them together and made a ballista.
00:18:30And I can actually take it apart and show you guys which props I used.
00:18:35I made this door shake.
00:18:37Like, there's something trying to get out.
00:18:38Oh!
00:18:39Yeah.
00:18:39And one of the things I wanted to...
00:18:41I don't know.
00:18:42We should ask these guys.
00:18:43What's going to get out?
00:18:45What's going to come out?
00:18:46Like, that's what I'm actually excited to see is...
00:18:47You're going to have to do it though.
00:18:48Oh, am I?
00:18:49Okay.
00:18:51Actually, I'm kind of hitting the...
00:18:52my prop limit on this because of all the decorations that I've done.
00:18:57And there's a bunch of stuff outside.
00:18:58Yeah, there's a bunch of stuff outside.
00:19:00You just pull a prop limit card to get out of a challenge?
00:19:03That's where leveling comes in.
00:19:04Maybe we should level link.
00:19:05You know what?
00:19:06That's where leveling comes in.
00:19:06Jared never does this.
00:19:07I'm just saying.
00:19:08I know.
00:19:09Jared's fishing.
00:19:10So how much of this have you shown?
00:19:12This is pretty much it.
00:19:13Okay.
00:19:14So can you show us some of the stuff around like the equipping?
00:19:17And people were joking about, you know, bigger character, smaller sword.
00:19:20Like, can you do that stuff?
00:19:21Show us how.
00:19:22Sure.
00:19:24So...
00:19:24So this is the level.
00:19:25So this is pretty big.
00:19:26Yeah, this is extremely big.
00:19:28Okay.
00:19:28I can start deconstructing it.
00:19:30Like, all that interior is hidden by this mountain.
00:19:33Wow.
00:19:33That's why I built that mountain.
00:19:35We can actually...
00:19:35That's the designer in you, right?
00:19:36Yeah.
00:19:37You built the world like...
00:19:39Yeah.
00:19:39I think John Carmack said something about game graphics or about making stuff look like we
00:19:45have technology from 20 years in the future.
00:19:46Well, designing games sometimes is about hiding stuff.
00:19:50Yeah.
00:19:50Like, this is what all the interior looks like.
00:19:53Just a bunch of...
00:19:54I actually crafted them out of the walls.
00:19:57And we can go down through here and that's where the forge area is.
00:20:01But let's go back to the sword that you asked.
00:20:04Okay.
00:20:05And on the sword...
00:20:07Sorry, Tom.
00:20:09You asked about, so like, this brain on the sword, like, so when the sword is not equipped,
00:20:14and then it detects the player, then it starts waiting for an interaction.
00:20:18And when the player interacts with it, the player equips it.
00:20:22And because, you can see in the code here, because it detected player, now it means the player.
00:20:25Exactly.
00:20:26And then it's saying that it can equip me, which actually means this item, whatever this brain is attached to.
00:20:31Right.
00:20:31And the really cool thing is, though, is that, like, Keith didn't make that.
00:20:35Nope.
00:20:36Right?
00:20:36Like, that sword had that on it.
00:20:38So, all the weapons have this code on it that allows you to just have it automatically equipped.
00:20:42And I think this is a good point, Harry.
00:20:43Swap out, yeah.
00:20:44No, this is a good point to make, because I saw some people making some comments even before the stream.
00:20:48Like, everything has a default brain, so you don't need to go into this depth.
00:20:52You put a goblin, he's going to act like a goblin.
00:20:54You put a player, you select what type of player, third person, whatever, he has it.
00:20:59You give him a sword, that sword already has this stuff.
00:21:01So, you can make everything, but what you'll find is, as you do that stuff, you're going
00:21:05to say, hey, I want to tweak it.
00:21:06And then, next thing you know, you're like, Keith, with this giant castle.
00:21:09Yeah, I actually did tweak it.
00:21:11I can do it.
00:21:11So, make the sword smaller.
00:21:13Okay.
00:21:13And the character bigger.
00:21:14So, that's the sword you equip.
00:21:16Just grab it and drop it by your dude.
00:21:17All right.
00:21:18Let's grab it.
00:21:21And then, like, this way we can, like, iterate on it back and forth.
00:21:26Unless you want to try and do it, like, in an empty world and start.
00:21:28No, that's okay.
00:21:29That's okay.
00:21:30Henry, while you're doing this one.
00:21:31So, one of the cool things, I don't know if we've shown before, is left trigger on the
00:21:34controller snaps stuff right to the ground.
00:21:36Boom.
00:21:36Except for this one goes a little low.
00:21:38But, it snaps it right to the ground and you can actually do stuff really quick.
00:21:41I know, right?
00:21:42So, they want to know about, and I think you could do it.
00:21:45My answer was, I think so.
00:21:46So, they're saying, hey, could you put cheat codes in your game?
00:21:49And I'm guessing, yeah.
00:21:50Yeah, absolutely.
00:21:51Easter eggs, cheap, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, and start.
00:21:54What was the Mortal Kombat, Blood Code, Abba, Kabat?
00:21:57Kabat?
00:21:58It's scary that you noticed.
00:21:59Kabat?
00:21:59I had to put that in a couple thousand times, right?
00:22:02Yeah, you can do things to trigger off of stuff like that.
00:22:04Big head mode, you could probably figure out a way to do it.
00:22:06Yep.
00:22:07There's a bunch of cool things you could do.
00:22:08Okay, so you made the sword small.
00:22:10It is extremely small.
00:22:11It is extremely small.
00:22:12I feel like a shank now.
00:22:14Yeah, it is.
00:22:15Please don't shank me.
00:22:16Wow.
00:22:16So, can you, so go back and let's do the opposite.
00:22:19Make the character big and the sword small.
00:22:21Or leave this, well, now it would be really, really, really small.
00:22:24So, make the sword big?
00:22:26So, make it bigger, and then make the character bigger.
00:22:28Let's grab that.
00:22:31And make the character bigger?
00:22:32Yeah.
00:22:32Or smaller?
00:22:33Bigger.
00:22:33Okay.
00:22:45Will there be achievements in gamer score for this?
00:22:48On the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 for sure.
00:22:52I would, I would assume we would also be for sure on Windows 8.
00:22:55Can you make the sword small?
00:22:56So, we love gamer score and achievements.
00:22:59So, pretty sure we'd have it for everything.
00:23:01Don't see why not.
00:23:03We're going to make the sword small because we care about you guys.
00:23:06So, the character is giant and the sword is small.
00:23:08Make the sword small.
00:23:13Oh, yeah.
00:23:18And now it's really tiny.
00:23:20That is way too tiny.
00:23:22Yeah.
00:23:22Can you even pick it up?
00:23:23Yeah, I have it.
00:23:24Oh, you got it.
00:23:24No, I have it.
00:23:25It's definitely there.
00:23:26That's cool.
00:23:27Alright, so let's show some more stuff here.
00:23:29Okay.
00:23:31So, one of the things that we talked about is how easy it is to radically change the look of
00:23:35your level.
00:23:35So, let's bring our character back down because we're going to want to run back through it.
00:23:38Okay.
00:23:39So, let's do some cool stuff with like the sky box and the lighting and some of the stuff in
00:23:43the world settings so that we can show how quickly we can make this look different.
00:23:47Cool.
00:23:48Let's put that right there.
00:23:50Alright, so let's go open the world settings.
00:23:52So, for a lot of people that just jumped in, this is Project Spark.
00:23:55It's basically a game about making games and the whole idea is that it's fun to make games.
00:24:00You can make stories, worlds, your own games, little movies and share them with the world.
00:24:07We have a community where you can grab feeds of the newest levels and just play a ton of stuff
00:24:12that people have made.
00:24:13You can go to www.projectspark.com and sign up for our beta which Mike always points out is Windows
00:24:208 in October.
00:24:22And here we go.
00:24:23So, Keith is making some quick...
00:24:24Xbox One in January.
00:24:25And Xbox One in January.
00:24:26And it is free to play.
00:24:28So, download and make cool stuff.
00:24:30We want to play all the cool stuff that people make.
00:24:32Yeah, and it's...
00:24:33You know, one of the things that we really look like...
00:24:35You know, we all like to be...
00:24:36People love games.
00:24:38They love designing games.
00:24:39That's kind of cool.
00:24:40We really wanted Project Spark to be able to give anybody the ability to make the game that's in their
00:24:44heads.
00:24:44Use that thing and not be at the will of whatever these crazy game designers think they know best.
00:24:51Make the game you want to play.
00:24:53A lot of the inspiration was like, you know, games have a lot of things these days where they're very
00:24:58linear.
00:24:58And, you know, we basically wanted to go back to the basics and build something that was about play.
00:25:03And build a sandbox that really was just about playing.
00:25:06So, you know, you can decide what things are and you can tune things the way you want.
00:25:10And that kind of stuff.
00:25:14So cool.
00:25:15Switch to night.
00:25:16Alright.
00:25:16So, Keith, that was an awesome tour of the level.
00:25:18We've got some...
00:25:19We've got some surprise guests here.
00:25:21I think we have some build collectors.
00:25:22That are going to dive in.
00:25:22Oh, I got to do a different stuff.
00:25:24Uh oh.
00:25:24Alright, so let's hop out.
00:25:26Oh, look at this crew.
00:25:27Geez.
00:25:27So, Keith just showed off his very early start at his...
00:25:31Keith, thanks, man.
00:25:33That was awesome.
00:25:33At his venture level.
00:25:34Thank you.
00:25:34Good job, buddy.
00:25:35Appreciate it.
00:25:36I think you may have done your mom proud.
00:25:38I hope so.
00:25:39I hope she's watching.
00:25:40If I don't...
00:25:41If I haven't, I'll hear about it later.
00:25:42Yeah.
00:25:43So, let's hop out and go back to give a little bit of an overview of Project Spark.
00:25:48So, here you can see you can create, you can play, you can jump in and play things that people
00:25:52have made.
00:25:52You can go ahead and create your own stuff.
00:25:54One of the things that we've shown before is that you can go ahead and you can create a world
00:25:57from scratch.
00:25:58You can also go in here and you can create a custom world.
00:26:01This allows you to sort of have a template to jump start your level.
00:26:04So, you can choose the initial size of the level, what kind of topography you want.
00:26:09And you can go ahead and choose sort of your theme, what do you want it to look like.
00:26:12And then if you have sort of a game or a genre type in mind or you just know what
00:26:16kind of character you want,
00:26:17you can start putting in some default characters here.
00:26:19So, first person shooter, isometric brawler, a creator man that can actually morph and bend the terrain in the game.
00:26:26And we've got to fail.
00:26:27You've got to click through.
00:26:29Here's the man.
00:26:30Clyde, jump in.
00:26:31Hey, it's Clyde, everybody.
00:26:32You can't really see him.
00:26:33No, it's this one.
00:26:35I haven't lost the video.
00:26:36No, we're still here.
00:26:38All right.
00:26:39So, just skip that.
00:26:40It's this one right here.
00:26:41Yeah, you can actually click it.
00:26:44I'll tab on that keyboard.
00:26:46Oh, I see.
00:26:47You're out of the focus.
00:26:50Cool.
00:26:51There we go.
00:26:52All right.
00:26:53So, you can go ahead and you can create kind of a level to start off with.
00:26:56Or you can jump into a blank canvas.
00:26:58So, we're going to throw some blank canvas at Claude?
00:27:01Well, yeah.
00:27:01Let's keep Claude going.
00:27:02All right.
00:27:03Let's see what you guys are thinking here.
00:27:04Well, Slayton and I were talking about how a lot of people have asked about cut scenes
00:27:08and stuff.
00:27:09So, we were going to set up like a quick cut scene and basically just kind of riff on it,
00:27:12like pass it back and forth between the two of us and just see what kind of cool stuff
00:27:15we can make.
00:27:17So, if anyone has any requests and stuff, we'll go ahead and do that.
00:27:20So, let's see.
00:27:21I'll start off with...
00:27:22We'll be talking about multiplayer in the future, guys.
00:27:24We're going to reveal that when we have more stuff.
00:27:26Sorry.
00:27:27Go ahead.
00:27:27I'll start off with making a little scene here.
00:27:29I'm going to grab this object.
00:27:31I think I have gotten stuck here.
00:27:33There we go.
00:27:34So, I'll put a little house here.
00:27:37Rotate it a little bit.
00:27:38And the cool thing is the house works just like all the other objects in the game.
00:27:41So, you can go ahead and you can change their colors.
00:27:43This house is actually a bunch of objects glued together.
00:27:46So, one of the concepts in the game is that you can sort of make some of your own objects
00:27:50by gluing things together.
00:27:52And something we haven't talked about a lot is these objects were built from a standpoint
00:27:57that their sides sort of have different functionality.
00:28:00So, you can actually get a ton of different things just by changing the appearance.
00:28:03taking objects, gluing them together, rotating their sides and scaling them and zooming them
00:28:08and changing their color.
00:28:09So, Claude's going in here and he's putting in one of our camera types.
00:28:11So, let's stop at the camera type for a quick second.
00:28:13And show the different cameras.
00:28:15So, again, we're in the brains.
00:28:16So, we've got when and we've got do.
00:28:19And the really beautiful thing here is when when is blank, it means always.
00:28:24So, again, it's really easy to just jump in and start to do things.
00:28:27So, Claude here wants a camera.
00:28:28And then being Claude, he's gotten very specific and added a lot of modifiers to it.
00:28:32Yeah, so I can talk about this.
00:28:33Go ahead.
00:28:34Yeah, so basically when you start your game, we'll just do this real quick.
00:28:39I'll get rid of this guy's camera.
00:28:40He has a camera too.
00:28:41So, when you make a camera, it has a couple of default settings on it.
00:28:45So, this is like a top-down camera.
00:28:46That's why I can kind of see like the edge of the house.
00:28:48I'll move this real quick.
00:28:50So, Claude, they're throwing you like a super softball.
00:28:53They want to know if you can make the house go on fire.
00:28:55Yeah, we'll do that in the cutscene actually.
00:28:57Let's do that in the cutscene.
00:28:58Jump ahead.
00:28:59Let's do that in the cutscene.
00:29:00Okay, so yeah, you can throw it on a camera and it comes with some default settings and it kind
00:29:03of feel right for whatever game, like for a lot of generic game types and stuff.
00:29:07So, people are asking a lot about the house.
00:29:09They're getting thrown off by if you can go into the house.
00:29:11So, this is one of the objects that we provide.
00:29:13We've put this together and we've glued it together in what we call an assembly.
00:29:17So, that's a window and a door and sort of a frame, a cylinder frame.
00:29:22Yeah, he's just taking it apart.
00:29:23And we put them together and he's taking it apart right now.
00:29:25So, what you could do is the door is separate.
00:29:28The window is separate.
00:29:29The roof is separate.
00:29:30So, you can go ahead and build all that stuff.
00:29:32And just like Keith showed, you can build giant walls.
00:29:34I mean, how high was your ceiling there?
00:29:36It was pretty, I think it was in the order of like 30 meters or something like that.
00:29:40Right.
00:29:41So, you can go ahead and you can, you know, build those interiors.
00:29:44You can use the props and the objects we just gave you.
00:29:47So, if we missed introductions, this is Claude, Jerome, designer on the team.
00:29:51This is Slayton, Dwight, designer on the team.
00:29:53Claude came in hot.
00:29:54Yeah, he's ready.
00:29:55He's ready to do running hot.
00:29:56So, what I'm doing now is basically I set up a camera with a custom editor pack, basically.
00:30:01And what this means is I can go into the world and pick an angle.
00:30:04I know, right?
00:30:04So, I can like really do some cinematic stuff like this.
00:30:07And then I put a transition type down.
00:30:09What this means is that if I have multiple cameras, it'll switch between them in a nice smooth way so
00:30:13I can make a cutscene.
00:30:14So, for people interested in how high the world can go, they should check out some of our other Twitch
00:30:19streams at Twitch on the Project Spark channel.
00:30:21We had a video with a tower that just went up so high, people were actually yelling at us because
00:30:26we were moving.
00:30:27We had to use a teleporter.
00:30:27We had to use a teleporter to get the character up there.
00:30:29It took too long.
00:30:30And then, of course, we jumped.
00:30:32So, check it out.
00:30:34It's on one of our other Twitch videos.
00:30:35We've got a bunch of videos there, a bunch of cool stuff on Facebook.
00:30:38And Mike is very diligent about getting a lot of stuff up on YouTube.
00:30:42But more importantly, some really cool stuff.
00:30:44We've had a ton of community-driven, user-submitted trailers, videos, news feeds and recaps.
00:30:51We thank everybody.
00:30:52There is some amazing stuff the community has thrown together.
00:30:55What is it?
00:30:56Spartan has been doing some amazing cool news stuff.
00:30:58He does, yeah.
00:30:58He's been doing great stuff.
00:30:59So, check out that stuff.
00:31:01There's a lot more info on the game in there.
00:31:03And you can see a lot of the cool stuff.
00:31:05Because Claude just can't do it all right now.
00:31:07Well, you probably could.
00:31:09So, what I'm doing right now is I'm going to slap it on some of them.
00:31:10You could, but there's a game Claude also has to make.
00:31:13So, I'm slapping on some stuff to make this feel more like a typical cutscene.
00:31:16Now, we've got a nice transition that we can start to add to that.
00:31:19Basically, I made the brain, but I'll go through it really quick.
00:31:22So, I have multiple pages where each page has a certain camera setting on it.
00:31:27So, like, the first camera is up next to this house.
00:31:30And then the second camera is up next to the player.
00:31:34And after some time, it'll transition between the two.
00:31:36So, what we can do now is we can keep building on that.
00:31:38We can add more pages.
00:31:39We can add more cameras that keep transitioning between each other.
00:31:42So, we can make a full-blown cutscene, basically.
00:31:44But sort of the super cool thing about the language, too, is you're putting some very specific things in there.
00:31:49You could do a bit less, maybe not get exactly what you want, but still get a nice cutscene.
00:31:54Just drop in the boom camera, manually frame it.
00:31:56Exactly, yeah.
00:31:57And just set it up like that.
00:31:58Right.
00:31:58So, it's really easy to set something up.
00:32:00So, we're just, like, yeah, we're just starting to kind of figure it out.
00:32:01Like, pause you in smoothing and transitions and depth of field at some point.
00:32:06Yeah, and then you can start to mix this up with, here, let's add depth of field in as well.
00:32:10Depth of field is kind of a cool camera technique that makes things feel really, like, deep and expansive and
00:32:16stuff.
00:32:16So, for anybody who's watched the movie, and they see two characters in the foreground, and they're in focus, and
00:32:21the background is out of focus, that's a depth of field technique.
00:32:24And it's amazing how just adding that to your cinematic just gives it a movie-like feel, because, I mean,
00:32:30that's what people are used to.
00:32:31They're used to that screen format, and they're used to seeing that in the language of cinema.
00:32:35So, Claude is using the Biome Brush, and, you know, we talked about it before.
00:32:39It's painting and adding objects at the same time.
00:32:41And it's a really quick and fast way to just kind of roughen your world.
00:32:45But, you know, one of the objectives of Project Spark is it should be really easy to make something beautiful.
00:32:49And that's one of the goals here.
00:32:51The Biome Brush is a great example of that, because you can very quickly and easily make something beautiful.
00:32:56But if you just want to go ahead and, like, scale down one tree or something very, very specific, you
00:33:02can do that as well.
00:33:04So, the Biome Brush does randomize stuff.
00:33:07Aeroslide said that...
00:33:09Hang on.
00:33:09So, Carnage is asking if the Biome Brush randomizes stuff.
00:33:11What it does, basically, is it sorts them out based on the size of the brush that you're putting in
00:33:20and the location that you're actually painting with the Biome Brush.
00:33:23So, it contextually knows if you're painting by water, it'll actually start adding in, like, a shore texture to it.
00:33:29And it'll start adding in a river with some floating logs.
00:33:31And if you go up to the peaks, it'll start adding in some stuff up there and birds.
00:33:35And if you make it really small, you'll get smaller objects and really large, bigger objects.
00:33:39So, I'm stealing some of Claude's Thunder here.
00:33:40So, here we go.
00:33:41Here's the cutscene.
00:33:42Here we go.
00:33:43I'm excited.
00:33:44Now we can start to add a little bit more stuff, basically.
00:33:46So, can we get, like, a piano and a bar?
00:33:48Yeah.
00:33:48So, you can see how, like, just a couple of quick settings make things feel, like, way different.
00:33:52So, what do you need to get the film grain?
00:33:53So, the film grain is actually something that Ian and I just discovered a little earlier.
00:33:56Putting rain with this specific filter color kind of makes it feel like it's a film grain effect going on.
00:34:02It's similar to Keith using those fireflies and changing the red to make it look like fireflies.
00:34:07And the cool thing about this is that I didn't change the default brand on this guy.
00:34:09So, now I have this, like, interactive cutscene where I can run around my controller.
00:34:13Oh, wow.
00:34:14So, we can start to keep building onto this and figure out, like, what we want to do with that.
00:34:18So, I'm going to hand this off to him.
00:34:18And you can see the depth of field working right there.
00:34:19Yeah, for sure.
00:34:20Now, clog through in the default depth of field, which just works.
00:34:22But then again, just like anything, you can set actually where it's sort of targeting.
00:34:25Do you want to jump in, Slayton?
00:34:27So, is there a way of making your own music in this game?
00:34:29So, there's a library of some default music.
00:34:33There's a library of default notes.
00:34:35You can take the notes and use timers and you can assemble sort of your own scores.
00:34:39It's a bit more advanced, so it's not as easy as obviously just triggering your own audio.
00:34:45But in addition to that, we showed it very early in the stream.
00:34:48You can use Kinect on Xbox One to do motion capture, facial animation, and audio recording.
00:34:55So, you can go ahead and record the audio and then do some fun stuff with that.
00:34:58They were asking about slow motion effects as well.
00:35:00So, slow motion we showed at the end of our last Twitch.
00:35:02There's a tile in the brain called Time Factor and you can do some slow motion stuff with that.
00:35:07Okay, so, Slayton's up and he's going through the effects.
00:35:10So, what do we got here? I love that green impact one, by the way.
00:35:13So, people...
00:35:13It's good times.
00:35:14People are talking about like setting it on fire.
00:35:16Okay, yes.
00:35:17Let's set that house on fire.
00:35:18Actually, we want to do an explosion.
00:35:20Alright.
00:35:22So, one of the things that Slayton's doing here is, again, being able to combine these inputs can be really
00:35:26powerful both game-wise and for creating.
00:35:29So, he's using the Xbox 360 controller and he's doing the search on the keyboard to go ahead and narrow
00:35:33down the gallery.
00:35:35And Slayton is just up the bat straight to explosion.
00:35:38Alright, so, he's saying when the countdown timer hits two, play a specific visual effect.
00:35:44And then he tagged what he wants that visual effect to be.
00:35:47Some of the cool things, too, is you don't have to go through the gallery for what you want to
00:35:51tag.
00:35:51You can pick things from the world.
00:35:53You can put an effect in the world and scale it and change its color and do some of that
00:35:57stuff, too.
00:35:58Alright, so here we go.
00:36:03And...
00:36:03Oh!
00:36:05There we go.
00:36:06So, now we can destroy the house.
00:36:07That was like anti-Cassablanca.
00:36:08Yeah, we can destroy the house, too.
00:36:10Alright, so now we can destroy the house.
00:36:11It's the Michael Bay reboot.
00:36:13Let's put a goblin in the back.
00:36:15Alright.
00:36:17The mastermind behind this.
00:36:18So, I can make a child rule of this explosion.
00:36:21So, when the explosion happens, it's actually going to destroy the house.
00:36:23So, that it doesn't make Henry sad.
00:36:28So, now we're going to destroy the house here.
00:36:30As long as it explodes with beautiful framing and a nice film scratch.
00:36:33I mean...
00:36:34We should actually add some...
00:36:36What you have to do is get the guy running in slow motion away from the explosion.
00:36:40Oh, we were talking about that.
00:36:41Oh!
00:36:42And then just like Armageddon, have like nine frames where Ben Affleck's engulfed in flames
00:36:46and then pull back and go, no, no, no, everything's fine.
00:36:48Except Ben Affleck's no Batman, so we get the...
00:36:51But that...
00:36:51We don't...
00:36:53Let's not get into that.
00:36:54No, I can't go there, Keith.
00:36:55We are...
00:36:56Ben Affleck is Daredevil, man.
00:36:58He's not Batman.
00:36:59I'm sorry to have been super good with sensibilities.
00:37:02I had to go there.
00:37:02Well, nobody expected him to be Batman, so...
00:37:05Play...
00:37:05So, you're adding a child rule.
00:37:07So, let's explain child rule real quick.
00:37:08So, child rule means it's going to fire essentially after the thing above it has gone through.
00:37:14Right.
00:37:14And you're saying play, and you're adding a different effect.
00:37:17Yep, so...
00:37:18And you're saying wood explosion, and you're saying where you want it to play.
00:37:20Right.
00:37:20So, when a house explodes, you actually want some fire, but you also want some wood shrapnel.
00:37:25So, we added a second effect that's going to play at the same time as a medium fire explosion.
00:37:29Cool.
00:37:30And right now, we're messing with the scale to see how big we want that.
00:37:33And then, you want a goblin in here?
00:37:35Yeah, let's put it behind the house.
00:37:36So, it looks like he did it.
00:37:38And he probably wanted to leave his ring or something.
00:37:42Big goblin.
00:37:42Let's move these.
00:37:43Oh, good.
00:37:44Big goblin.
00:37:44Let's move these trees.
00:37:45No whammies.
00:37:45Big goblins.
00:37:47So, again, Slayton's going in showing the power of just being able to, you know, individually
00:37:51kind of customize and tweak stuff.
00:37:54Claude and Keith are being shy.
00:37:55They're hanging off camera.
00:37:57I'll do this.
00:37:59Mike's hat is dominating right now.
00:38:01You know what?
00:38:02It's a pretty...
00:38:03I think we should have Mike's hat make him up.
00:38:06That's why we don't have a lot on camera.
00:38:08Yeah.
00:38:09I thought we were waiting for 100 o'clock.
00:38:13Good luck going on here.
00:38:15Look at that.
00:38:15It looked really good.
00:38:17It actually looked really good.
00:38:18Yeah, it did.
00:38:19Oh, man.
00:38:19And if Keith didn't punk out, he could have had that explode behind his door.
00:38:23That's true.
00:38:24That's true.
00:38:24I'm sure you had one more prop limit there.
00:38:27I was...
00:38:28You were fine.
00:38:29After that.
00:38:29Yeah, I think the camera thing do it, too.
00:38:33So, this is cool.
00:38:35It's like the next page.
00:38:36Yeah, all right.
00:38:37We got to get it.
00:38:37So, they want to talk about boss fights.
00:38:39So, you guys have dug into some in the last feed.
00:38:42I keep on referring back to our last feed because we only have so much time to do stuff in
00:38:46the feed.
00:38:47We showed sort of a Shadow of Colossus-inspired level that was built by one of the designers on the
00:38:51team.
00:38:52And it has this sort of epic phase to the boss fight, kind of hitting these pieces.
00:38:57Keith sort of showed it, although the Trolls animation was bugging out.
00:39:01You know, a phased boss fight where you did something that triggered another criteria at another event.
00:39:06So, you could totally set up, you know, some of those classic, you know, Metroid Prime type boss fights.
00:39:11Yeah.
00:39:11Hitting this thing.
00:39:12Rolling, you know, going under here and putting the bombs.
00:39:15The Zelda boss fights.
00:39:16You can do that stuff.
00:39:17But, you know, one of the things, again, that's really easy is this goblin just comes into the world.
00:39:20He's got a brain.
00:39:22He's hostile.
00:39:22Oh, man.
00:39:23He will fight you.
00:39:24That's so awesome.
00:39:25Oh, come on.
00:39:27That's so awesome.
00:39:28You want me to jump in?
00:39:29Yeah.
00:39:29All right.
00:39:30So, now we're back over to Claude.
00:39:31I got an idea.
00:39:33So, maybe mix it up a bit.
00:39:34Yeah.
00:39:35So, let's see.
00:39:36Yeah, Ron, I think he just wants a hug.
00:39:38Yeah, a little bit.
00:39:39So, yeah, we're staying.
00:39:40Okay.
00:39:41I kind of want to make a dance, though.
00:39:44Live that dream.
00:39:45I will.
00:39:45I will.
00:39:48Ari was yelling at me, and I am.
00:39:50Stop.
00:39:50He does that.
00:39:51Like, do you think this is helpful right now?
00:39:54But, I mean, he's right.
00:39:57So, you know, one of the things we were talking about with the models, like, you can't make
00:40:01custom models, but you can put props together to make pretty much anything you want.
00:40:07If you saw what Keith did, we didn't get a chance to really get into, like, the blister
00:40:10or anything, did we?
00:40:11Right.
00:40:11No, no.
00:40:11So, there's, like, a lot of stuff where he just puts these pieces together to make, like,
00:40:17some really impressive stuff.
00:40:18And that's really how the rock mech was made by, that was Ari himself, wasn't it?
00:40:24Look at that.
00:40:24See how it all comes back?
00:40:25Ari did a bunch of them.
00:40:26Yeah, that's true.
00:40:27He did a bunch of the rock mech.
00:40:28Yeah.
00:40:28So, you know, there's a lot of cool things that you can do with it.
00:40:31And, obviously, with the motion capture, you know, that gives you the whole aspect to
00:40:35animate and do a lot of other things.
00:40:36I think so.
00:40:37Alright, so Claude is...
00:40:39I'm doing some silly stuff.
00:40:40I know.
00:40:40Oh, I think I know what you're doing.
00:40:42Yeah.
00:40:43So, move with flying.
00:40:46And, again, that's another really easy thing is, you go into move, and then you say,
00:40:49what can this do?
00:40:50And flying is one of the things that easily comes up.
00:40:53And you're throwing in some spears?
00:40:55That's actually one of my favorite things about this game is that, like, the props by themselves
00:40:59do cool things, but then when you start looking at them in a different light and combining
00:41:03them together, it, like, it just opens your entire way.
00:41:05Yeah, and that's what I was saying before is, like, the different sides of the props, right?
00:41:08And changing the appearance of it.
00:41:09And changing the appearance.
00:41:10And even the scale sometimes is a really big deal.
00:41:12Claude, give us a shot.
00:41:13Alright, here we go.
00:41:13We're watching the masterpiece.
00:41:15Oh!
00:41:16Oh, where's he going?
00:41:17Oh, he's not flying.
00:41:18He put it in the boat, man.
00:41:20Which brain did you put it in?
00:41:21I thought I put it in his, uh, is it in the sky's brain?
00:41:24I think you put it in his brain.
00:41:25It's on the, it's on the LogiCube.
00:41:27Yeah.
00:41:27Alright, let's walk through this.
00:41:28Let's walk through this.
00:41:29A little group debugging.
00:41:31Uh, Prismacode, Prismacube says hi.
00:41:34They met you at, uh, Gamescom.
00:41:36Oh, sweet!
00:41:40Do you remember why all of Claude's doing?
00:41:43What's his name?
00:41:43Yeah, yeah.
00:41:44Help me out here.
00:41:45There's a lot of people there.
00:41:47They met him on the way to the restroom.
00:41:48Um, so why isn't this doing that?
00:41:49Claude's wave was Jordan.
00:41:50So that's a remote move.
00:41:52Yeah.
00:41:52So I'm telling it from the LogiCube to move it.
00:41:54we can move that to the, uh, to the Godwin.
00:41:56Yeah, you're going to have to play that.
00:41:57I thought this would be a good way to control it.
00:41:59Wasn't it working before that?
00:42:00Yeah, it was.
00:42:00Okay, so what happened?
00:42:02Let's see.
00:42:02Did you reference the Godwin from the world?
00:42:04Let's do detect.
00:42:07Maybe this doesn't work.
00:42:08So let's see.
00:42:12Let's do, I got it.
00:42:13So Mike, one of the things that, um, came up a lot in the last, uh, couple streams, when
00:42:18we started showing things like the level linking and we talked about the, the remixing
00:42:22and stuff like that was, um, you know, we have a lot of stuff in progress.
00:42:26We're trying to focus on, uh, we are using a new build today.
00:42:29So we're in a, uh, very, uh, high risk maneuver here.
00:42:32But, um, one of the things that, you know, we're focused on is we want to show the stuff
00:42:37we talk about.
00:42:38Um, we don't just want to, you know, be able to talk about it.
00:42:40We want to make sure we can do it and not commit to stuff.
00:42:42So, you know, we talked about, yes, you will be able, people will be able to save when
00:42:47they play your levels.
00:42:48So when somebody makes something, there will be a save state and they'll be able to play.
00:42:52Okay.
00:42:54So Henry, can you tell me, like, what do you, like, by save, do you mean just checkpoints
00:42:59or how does that work?
00:42:59So we're not getting into all those details yet.
00:43:01We're still trying to finalize some of those stuff.
00:43:03But if you were to say make, um, Keith's level and level your character up to like level
00:43:08three if you did like an RPG system and you wanted to go play, you wanted to go and stop
00:43:13and take a break, there are, there is an automatic save state that will let you return to any
00:43:17user created.
00:43:19Yeah.
00:43:20So you can go ahead and not worry about it.
00:43:22You want to make an epic giant RPG type of thing.
00:43:25People can resume with a save.
00:43:28Okay.
00:43:29We got this now.
00:43:30All right.
00:43:31It's going to be cool.
00:43:31All right.
00:43:33Assures us that we have it.
00:43:36So this is the danger of live.
00:43:38High risk maneuver build.
00:43:40But Claude is going to pull it off.
00:43:43The payoff is so great.
00:43:44It's a Cinderella story.
00:43:46So now he's going to move here, I guess.
00:43:48Did I go too far back with the Caddyshack reference?
00:43:51Yeah.
00:43:52Okay.
00:43:53So now we'll change this.
00:43:54You guys didn't get it.
00:43:55They're too young.
00:43:55I'm not even sure.
00:43:56I know.
00:43:58That was a big debate on the team.
00:44:00That was a big debate.
00:44:01I think I'll leave that as a mystery.
00:44:03What did the person on stage guess?
00:44:05That's what you should have done.
00:44:05You should have turned the demo into a guess your age.
00:44:08I could have given the shirt out.
00:44:08So can you tell people the story?
00:44:10Yeah.
00:44:10So I was at PAX and we were doing a demo.
00:44:13Mike Moore.
00:44:13Come on.
00:44:15At the end of the demo, I take questions and I also will give out swag.
00:44:19And the first question was, how old are you?
00:44:23That kind of threw me for a second.
00:44:25That was an unexpected question.
00:44:27People were already getting their imagination going.
00:44:29Yeah.
00:44:30But I think you should have turned it into a guessing game.
00:44:31Well, right after that, she wanted to know all about the game.
00:44:33So then it worked.
00:44:34Yeah.
00:44:35That pulled it off.
00:44:36Well, Keith had an interesting other situation where he was demoing the game for a specific
00:44:41Seahawk.
00:44:41Yes.
00:44:42And Keith is a big Seahawk fan.
00:44:44Massive Seahawks fan.
00:44:45And that demo turned into ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
00:44:49I think I would've drooled.
00:44:50Yeah.
00:44:51Baby peepress.
00:44:51Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:44:52That was great.
00:44:53I was in the same room as our starting line battle.
00:44:55Project Spark lets you do stuff with things.
00:44:59And it's on, yeah, here.
00:45:01Yeah.
00:45:02Can I shake your hands?
00:45:02Did you get his autograph?
00:45:04I didn't get his autograph, but I got a picture with him.
00:45:07Oh, I didn't see that.
00:45:08What do you mean?
00:45:09I posted it on Facebook.
00:45:10He doesn't even watch.
00:45:11I didn't know.
00:45:12What's Facebook again?
00:45:14All right, so Paul, how old does Slayton look?
00:45:16And that was done by Mike, that's nice of you.
00:45:19I love that, oh, you read my chat though, not the Facebook.
00:45:22So Mike Jacobs says 12, but Mike Jacobs has inside information.
00:45:281807, 11, 22.
00:45:30Microsoft, 12.
00:45:31Nice, let's give this a shot.
00:45:32Hey, you know, when I started in the industry, I got similar stuff, so run with it.
00:45:37It's a good thing.
00:45:39But you were like 14 or something else.
00:45:42Okay, now it's just what I wanted.
00:45:44Keith has a sort of funny story of how he recognized me.
00:45:48Yeah, so I used to say...
00:45:49No, no, no.
00:45:52All right, so Slayton, do you want to try and do the platforming stuff?
00:45:56Yeah, sure.
00:45:57Going to a new level?
00:45:58Yeah, probably start over, yeah.
00:46:00Okay.
00:46:00Start from a new level.
00:46:01So Slayton's got some cool ideas on how to do...
00:46:03Should we save it?
00:46:04We haven't shown some cool stuff around moving platforms
00:46:07and some cool stuff around some 3D platformer stuff,
00:46:10but Keith can go ahead and tell his story.
00:46:12Yeah, so I used to subscribe to Nintendo Power because I...
00:46:15That's what everybody did.
00:46:16Yeah, I know.
00:46:17That's what everybody did, and I love Nintendo games.
00:46:19I miss you, Nintendo Power.
00:46:20I know, it's so beautiful.
00:46:22And I got this VHS tape in the mail about Donkey Kong Country.
00:46:26VHS what?
00:46:26Yeah, I know.
00:46:29The old magnetic tapes.
00:46:33And I watched this thing, like, every day after school,
00:46:36and this guy was in it because he was a tester at the time.
00:46:40I don't know, you were doing other stuff with it.
00:46:42But then I got here, and I recognized his voice,
00:46:45and I kind of recognized him, and I was like,
00:46:47oh, my God, and I went to YouTube and pulled up the video,
00:46:50and sure enough, Henry is in the Donkey Kong Country video.
00:46:54And then before you know it, I came over and made you redo all your work.
00:46:56Yeah, exactly.
00:46:57It tired me a couple times.
00:46:59Yeah, it was awkward.
00:47:00That was weird.
00:47:01So we have a couple requests.
00:47:03People want to see the...
00:47:04I believe what they're asking for is when we make terrain,
00:47:07and you paint it, and the terrain's high,
00:47:08it automatically adjusts to the level of the terrain.
00:47:12Yes.
00:47:13So if we get a chance to show that, that might be great.
00:47:15Okay.
00:47:17So one of the best ways to show it is the overhangs, too,
00:47:21is it'll also paint, like, on the ceiling and stuff like that.
00:47:25So people that haven't seen the infamous U-shaped hill...
00:47:28Yeah, I was...
00:47:28You know, we don't have any of those right now,
00:47:30so I think we have to make some.
00:47:31Somebody earlier, before we started,
00:47:33when we were kind of...
00:47:34Oh, that's a good idea.
00:47:35...when we were figuring things out.
00:47:36Somebody asked for a T-shaped hill.
00:47:38A T-shaped hill?
00:47:39A T-shaped hill.
00:47:40Okay, so Slayton is using the sculpting tools to use the expand,
00:47:45and he is just pulling the terrain and expanding.
00:47:47He could also go ahead and use the add tool.
00:47:50He can change the size of his brush.
00:47:52You can change the intensity, too, so how strong you pull,
00:47:56and kind of...
00:47:57There you go, just changing the intensity.
00:48:00And then you can change the shape of the brush
00:48:01and how you want to do it.
00:48:04All right, so Slayton is doing his best U-shaped hill rendition.
00:48:07We're out of practice, I think.
00:48:08I think so.
00:48:09We haven't U-shaped hill in a while.
00:48:10Oh, that's pretty...
00:48:11Look at that.
00:48:12My God.
00:48:13It looks hill.
00:48:15Like, you want to do it?
00:48:17Oh, my God.
00:48:18I'm throwing off.
00:48:19Are you throwing, like, 90s lingo ass?
00:48:21Yo, you good.
00:48:22It's the illest hill I've ever seen.
00:48:23So, Mike, have you set up the whole thing
00:48:27with www.projectspark.com to get into the beta?
00:48:30Make sure that people...
00:48:31www dot.
00:48:31www dot.
00:48:33There's probably browsers that'll redirect now.
00:48:37And because we want to make sure, you know,
00:48:40we want to see everybody's imagination come to life.
00:48:42We want to play what people are going to make.
00:48:44So, you know, get into the beta.
00:48:46It's probably going to be a rolling beta,
00:48:48so the earlier you get in and get signed up, the better.
00:48:51And we just want to play what you make.
00:48:53So it's completely self-service.
00:48:54Yeah, really.
00:48:55We're just about...
00:48:56We want to see what you guys make.
00:48:58Everybody's made amazing stuff.
00:49:00People on the team.
00:49:00We have some external people, community.
00:49:02They're in the chat right now, in fact.
00:49:04Slayton, I have to bring you some bad news.
00:49:05Oh, no.
00:49:06The founder of the U-shaped hill society
00:49:08is not approving that U-shaped hill.
00:49:11Oh, no.
00:49:11All right.
00:49:12So we haven't shown this much.
00:49:14What Slayton is doing here
00:49:15is he's using the pathing tool.
00:49:16so you can lay down this path
00:49:18and then you can just attach an object
00:49:19or you could use brain code,
00:49:21but it's really easy to just go ahead
00:49:22and attach an object.
00:49:23He's going to attach an object to that path
00:49:25and then the object is going to follow that path.
00:49:27And that can be anything from this wooden board
00:49:30to a character to a light, right?
00:49:34You can do a light
00:49:35and have a traveling light through your level
00:49:37if that's what you want to do,
00:49:37make a cool cave.
00:49:39Been there, man.
00:49:40Been there, done that.
00:49:41Yeah.
00:49:42I don't know.
00:49:42Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
00:49:44Yeah.
00:49:44I didn't get the U-shaped hill.
00:49:46I know.
00:49:47What happened to that?
00:49:48It fell through.
00:49:49It fell through?
00:49:49Yeah, none of people tried to buy it.
00:49:51You know, that's on us.
00:49:52That's actually on Mike.
00:49:54That's on Mike.
00:49:54It's got to be on Mike.
00:49:56Oh, jeez.
00:49:57Mike, you just need to order like 20.
00:49:59So here we go.
00:50:00So here is Slayton roughing in
00:50:02a really quick 3D platformer.
00:50:04I don't know if you have the headquarters.
00:50:05Oh, it's got the headquarters.
00:50:06Oh, it's got the headquarters.
00:50:09Oh, it's got the headquarters.
00:50:09Oh, no.
00:50:09Oh, and this is why iteration is key.
00:50:12Yeah.
00:50:13Because you're just a button away from testing
00:50:15and then going back in and changing.
00:50:17Yeah, give him a shrink.
00:50:18You can shrink him.
00:50:19Or you can carve the tunnel and make it look a little more
00:50:22like a U.
00:50:23I think I'm shrinking pretty far.
00:50:25Well, I mean, you can give him like an ability
00:50:27that makes him shrink.
00:50:27Right.
00:50:28And you currently have one of the world's slowest
00:50:30moving platforms.
00:50:30So now everybody wants to know if you can crouch.
00:50:33If you can crouch?
00:50:34Well, you can record your own animation
00:50:37with Kinect, so crouch away.
00:50:40Or we can do what Slayton's going to do
00:50:41and make him shrink.
00:50:42Make him shrink.
00:50:43There's a dive roll skill that you can put in
00:50:47so you can do some cool stuff where like
00:50:48you're going to hit something
00:50:50and then it'll damage you
00:50:51and you've got to time it and dive roll.
00:50:53So there's a bunch of different ways
00:50:54to do stuff like that.
00:50:56Why crouch?
00:50:57And you can become mini.
00:50:58I agree.
00:50:59Because then you've got full control.
00:51:03All right, so what do we got here?
00:51:04So I also increased the speed of it.
00:51:06Oh, it's too fast.
00:51:07Oh!
00:51:08And I don't think you raised the overhang enough.
00:51:10That's pretty awesome.
00:51:12I don't think you raised the overhang.
00:51:14Oh, no.
00:51:15We're trying to see if we can shrink him.
00:51:17We're going to go for the shrink.
00:51:18It's like an action movie.
00:51:22Just missing Keanu Reeves.
00:51:23Yeah.
00:51:23Oh, my God.
00:51:24We could put it on the explosions, though.
00:51:26Yeah.
00:51:27Get in there.
00:51:29Oh, yeah.
00:51:30Oh, there we go.
00:51:30See, why shrink or why crouch when you can shrink?
00:51:33And the camera's including them.
00:51:34Whoa!
00:51:37There we go.
00:51:38So just like that,
00:51:39you can put together a pretty cool moving platform.
00:51:41So you want to show maybe some of the paint on the hill
00:51:43that people have asked about?
00:51:45Anything else you can think of?
00:51:46What about showing people how you can collect items
00:51:49and stuff like that and pickups,
00:51:51like the coins and stuff?
00:51:52You want to do coins and equipment maybe?
00:51:54Yeah.
00:51:54Well, we showed a little bit of equipment,
00:51:56but maybe we can show a little bit more on that.
00:51:58So here I got some roots under it,
00:52:00under the hill,
00:52:01and now I'm going to make the brush much bigger
00:52:03so I can cover a wider area.
00:52:04And then you can just go ahead
00:52:05and you can see on the ground
00:52:06and then the top,
00:52:07and I don't think you're high enough here.
00:52:09The biomes do more of a specific thing at the peak,
00:52:12but you can see here,
00:52:13I love the vines that just kind of show up
00:52:15when you do the mossing material.
00:52:17The moss material is like my favorite paint.
00:52:19It is really cool.
00:52:20It's all right.
00:52:21Wow, Mr. Contreras.
00:52:24I didn't know we had favorite paints.
00:52:26I prefer the grass.
00:52:27Everybody's picking favorites.
00:52:28You guys are terrible human beings.
00:52:31Can you make them able to shoot in all directions
00:52:33like a twin stick shooter?
00:52:35Nice.
00:52:35Yeah, they can do that.
00:52:36So do we have a twin stick shooter brain?
00:52:39Do we have a twin stick shooter brain?
00:52:40I think we might have a twin stick shooter brain
00:52:41that we can just put in.
00:52:42I don't think we have one right now.
00:52:43We can do that.
00:52:44Well, we can load Gladiator.
00:52:46We can.
00:52:46We can't do that.
00:52:47It's in the shop.
00:52:48We can show that.
00:52:49It's in one of the previous twitches
00:52:51that you could do a twin stick shooter.
00:52:52It's actually pretty cool
00:52:53because Bradley Reeves was,
00:52:56or Reeves, I forget.
00:52:59He was actually messing around
00:53:00with even doing some old school stuff
00:53:02where you can only fire in four directions
00:53:03and in eight directions,
00:53:04and then he did full 360 degree directions.
00:53:07So that was pretty cool
00:53:09because he had a ton of power
00:53:10on what he could do with a twin stick shooter.
00:53:11So have we talked about what the plan is for,
00:53:15because people were just asking about the website
00:53:17and saying there's not a lot of information on there.
00:53:19What have we announced about
00:53:21how we think this is all going to come together?
00:53:23Anything at all?
00:53:24How we think it's all going to come together?
00:53:26As far as the website and what we have planned.
00:53:29Oh, what we're going to do with the website?
00:53:30So, I mean, we haven't revealed much about that,
00:53:33and we will probably talk about that
00:53:36at a bit of a later date.
00:53:37But we've got a full community,
00:53:40a website where people can go,
00:53:42comment on each other's creations,
00:53:44rate things.
00:53:45There's a bunch of different feeds
00:53:47so you can discover levels.
00:53:49Filter stuff.
00:53:49Filter stuff.
00:53:50We have a remix system that has lineage
00:53:52where you can see who the original creator was.
00:53:55It then gives credit to all the subsequent creators
00:53:58around that level.
00:54:00So there's a bunch of really cool things.
00:54:01Now, right now, all of that is in our alpha.
00:54:04It's not open in beta.
00:54:06That'll be available to people.
00:54:08But right now, that's it.
00:54:09And that's why the website we have now
00:54:10is just one page.
00:54:11So we've got a couple of other things, too,
00:54:13that we wanted to be able to talk about.
00:54:15So when beta comes out,
00:54:16Claude and Ari and a bunch of other guys
00:54:18and a bunch of other people from the team,
00:54:20we're going to hop in and take questions
00:54:23and field some challenges
00:54:25and how do you do stuff and things like that.
00:54:27So we'll be doing some live sort of tutorials
00:54:31and open sessions where we can go back and forth
00:54:33and see how things are going.
00:54:35But there's also a lot of cool resources on the website.
00:54:39And the community is going to be there
00:54:40to be able to do things like,
00:54:41you know, we talk about maybe somebody
00:54:43who's really, really into art
00:54:45and maybe one of their friends
00:54:46is really, really into design or the programming
00:54:49or making some of the mechanics.
00:54:51Or maybe they want to find somebody in the community
00:54:53who really wants to do mechanics.
00:54:54Like, you can do stuff like that.
00:54:56And one of our big inspirations was the Postal Service,
00:54:59which is an indie super group
00:55:00that made an awesome CD over the mail, right?
00:55:03And you can do things like that,
00:55:04asynchronously build levels together.
00:55:06So you've got some coins on your little platform route
00:55:09and you're able to just collect them.
00:55:10And that's another thing with the default
00:55:12is you just collect the coin.
00:55:14It works.
00:55:15It displays the coin on the screen.
00:55:17And you can see it's doing a number count.
00:55:19Maybe you can go into a little bit more
00:55:20of the stuff that you can do
00:55:21with the UI and the display.
00:55:23Sure.
00:55:23So I know in Infinite Worlds
00:55:24we actually showed the spell we were going to use.
00:55:28So we showed the fireball.
00:55:29So we've got some of that cool stuff.
00:55:30Yeah.
00:55:30So anything in particular you want to see?
00:55:34Hmm.
00:55:35Maybe just do some stuff
00:55:36where you display like the health bar
00:55:37and show where it can go.
00:55:39Because I think we've got a lot of new people in here
00:55:41that haven't seen some of this stuff.
00:55:42And just showing the power of how you can put a health bar
00:55:45and where you can do it.
00:55:46Right.
00:55:46Yeah.
00:55:46Absolutely.
00:55:47They were asking about that.
00:55:49So Project Spark will be released
00:55:51for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows 8.
00:55:55Our beta on Windows 8 starts next month?
00:55:58October?
00:55:59Yeah.
00:56:01The team's actually kind of being really busy
00:56:03kind of cranking that.
00:56:04They wanted to kill me
00:56:05for dragging anybody away from working.
00:56:07and then the Xbox One beta
00:56:10is scheduled for January 2014.
00:56:14And you can sign up at the website
00:56:16that Tom just nicely has been linking for us.
00:56:19So Slayton here just added
00:56:21when, always, show meter,
00:56:24and then he's saying health,
00:56:25and then he's choosing a screen location.
00:56:27Yep.
00:56:27And then you can choose a color
00:56:28and you can choose a size.
00:56:30And if we go into,
00:56:32so I'm going to add the default brain
00:56:33so that we can actually,
00:56:35if I add the default adventure brain,
00:56:39it actually comes with this.
00:56:41So yes, it will be available on Xbox 360.
00:56:44And there's a link on Reddit,
00:56:47our Project Spark game, I think it is,
00:56:49that has some of the min specs.
00:56:52Oh, yes.
00:56:53So yeah, it's forward slash,
00:56:55our forward slash Project Spark game.
00:56:58That's reddit.com.
00:56:59Yep.
00:57:00So this is the default brain
00:57:02that the adventurer comes with.
00:57:04And I can actually go in here
00:57:05and copy this line,
00:57:06if I wasn't sure how it was coded somewhere else,
00:57:08and actually go onto my character
00:57:10and then paste it in.
00:57:12And that's something people have been asking about
00:57:13around copying of the brain.
00:57:14So you can copy a line.
00:57:15Yeah, I do that on a line.
00:57:16You can copy multiple lines
00:57:17by copying a line that has child rules underneath it.
00:57:20And then you can copy an entire brain.
00:57:21And you can copy pages.
00:57:23And you can copy entire pages.
00:57:24Yep.
00:57:24That's right, yep.
00:57:25So there's a bunch of different ways
00:57:26to copy stuff in the brain.
00:57:28You know, I did a trivia game,
00:57:30and, you know, that was just huge, right?
00:57:32Because I would essentially just repopulate
00:57:34all my code in the next page
00:57:35and then change my questions
00:57:36and then just have the category randomization,
00:57:39just pick which page to go to.
00:57:40And that was something that really quickly
00:57:42kind of just got you started.
00:57:47So you've got screen left,
00:57:49and then you can go ahead
00:57:50and you can do scale,
00:57:51you can do size,
00:57:52you can do color.
00:57:53So how big are you going to go?
00:57:55Two.
00:57:55Everybody loves two.
00:57:56Two is a good number.
00:57:59So there's a giant health meter.
00:58:02Well, there we go.
00:58:03Well, I'm sure you have, like, trouble seeing,
00:58:05so I thought I'd make it a little bit bigger for you.
00:58:06It's the accessibility mode.
00:58:07Yeah.
00:58:08For our old people over here.
00:58:10I didn't say it.
00:58:11So, Mike,
00:58:12I think we're getting close to wrapping up.
00:58:15We had one thing
00:58:17that we wanted to potentially
00:58:18give a super sneak peek on.
00:58:19Sure.
00:58:20So let me go in here and dive in,
00:58:22and I'm going to grab
00:58:22our faithful little character.
00:58:24Do I even know what this is?
00:58:25You're going to surprise me?
00:58:27I might be surprising.
00:58:28I'm the last to know everything.
00:58:30So there was one thing
00:58:30we talked about
00:58:31giving a bit of a peek on.
00:58:33We're going to go ahead
00:58:33and we're going to show
00:58:34some of the stuff that we did before.
00:58:36We're going to go ahead
00:58:37and swap this character out,
00:58:38and again,
00:58:38this is a work-in-progress build,
00:58:40so we have a lot more
00:58:41kind of temporary
00:58:43art assets in here.
00:58:45Yeah, this is actually
00:58:46what we call a developer build.
00:58:47This is not, like,
00:58:48one of the packs build
00:58:49or one of the other ones
00:58:49that we actually had for convention.
00:58:51We need this guy.
00:58:52We'll find out.
00:58:53All right.
00:58:54Probably no heads.
00:58:54And he went away.
00:58:55So there you go.
00:58:57All right.
00:58:58So we've got this guy right here,
00:58:59and one of the things
00:59:00we showed a bit of this at PAX.
00:59:02Oh, okay.
00:59:03So let me get rid
00:59:03of your giant meter here.
00:59:05You don't like that?
00:59:06Oh, it's big.
00:59:08Very big.
00:59:09All right.
00:59:09So we can go ahead in here
00:59:10and we can go into
00:59:10the character studio,
00:59:11and one of the things
00:59:11we showed is
00:59:12you can go into the clothing,
00:59:14and you can go ahead
00:59:14and you can do things like
00:59:16color the individual objects,
00:59:18swap them in and out,
00:59:20and you can go ahead
00:59:22and go in here
00:59:22to the different color sliders.
00:59:23I think I picked
00:59:24a non-obvious piece
00:59:27of the color here.
00:59:29There's a neck piece.
00:59:30There's a neck piece.
00:59:31So you can go in here
00:59:32and you can customize that.
00:59:34But one of the things
00:59:35that's very, very early on,
00:59:37but people have been talking about,
00:59:38oh, too early.
00:59:40All right.
00:59:41Well, next time we will tease it
00:59:42and we will show
00:59:43exactly what it is.
00:59:44So, Mike, let's take us out.
00:59:46All right.
00:59:47So, guys,
00:59:47we appreciate you staying with us.
00:59:49I'd like to thank
00:59:51the Microsoft Studios folks,
00:59:53the PlayXBLA team
00:59:54for letting us use their channel.
00:59:56That was the Noem as Tart,
00:59:59Kaboom,
01:00:01I don't know Daniel's name,
01:00:03and Ricari.
01:00:05We don't want to thank Ricari.
01:00:05What is Ricari?
01:00:06I'm a Ricari guy.
01:00:08Also, we want to give a shout-out
01:00:10to Major Nelson
01:00:10who helped us out
01:00:11as well as the folks at Xbox.
01:00:13And who else did?
01:00:14Graham Boyd,
01:00:15AC Bongo did.
01:00:16A ton of people.
01:00:17Again, yeah,
01:00:17thank you very much
01:00:18to the channel.
01:00:19Thank those guys.
01:00:20And we'll see.
01:00:21Maybe we'll do another guest spot
01:00:22here on the Microsoft Studios channel,
01:00:24but we'll normally
01:00:25on the Project Underscore Spark channel.
01:00:27And we'll be posting this video.
01:00:29I don't know.
01:00:30It's pretty long.
01:00:30We'll be posting this video
01:00:31on YouTube
01:00:32and we'll be sharing that out
01:00:33on our Facebook page
01:00:34and other places for you to see it.
01:00:36So, thanks again, guys.
01:00:37And there's a ton more out there.
01:00:38Check out the other Twitch streams.
01:00:39Everybody say bye.
01:00:40Bye.
