Arriva da Sony e Sucker Punch un videodiario dedicato a inFamous: Second Son, in particolare per quanto riguarda il comparto audio del gioco.
L'audio director di Sucker Punch spiega nel video il lavoro effettuato sull'accompagnamento sonoro, che dovendo rappresentare la "nuova generazione" dell'audio doveva essere al pari dell'impressionante comparto video del gioco. Come mostrato nel video, gli sviluppatori si sono ingegnati per creare un set di suoni realistico ed evocativo, registrando campioni in studio e in giro per Seattle per creare gli effetti sonori legati ai poteri e alle ambientazioni di inFamous: Second Son.

00:31Just to compare on Infamous 2 versus Infamous 2nd Sun
00:35we've got almost 10 times the amount of memory
00:38that we have at our disposal
00:39and what that means for us is way more sounds are going into the game
00:43every single sound that you hear is playing from a point in space
00:46we're not just like playing a really long looping sound
00:49of well here's our city ambience and it's 3 minutes
00:51and then it'll loop at the end
00:53instead we have this beautiful dynamic thing
00:55that changes based on the tension level of the battle
00:59and what time of day it is and what neighborhood you're in
01:02as a sound professional
01:04I like all the doors that are open now
01:05it's a new frontier for us
01:07it's a chance for us to really be able to design sound for a game like we want to

01:17this is totally geeky
01:18is we've marked every item
01:21so that when something smashes into it
01:23it sounds like that thing
01:24so when you go up to like a DUP guard tower
01:26and you just blow it up in a fist
01:28when a metal pipe falls on a piece of metal
01:31it goes ee
01:31or when the metal pipe falls on stone
01:33it goes ting ting ting
01:34all of those are physically perfect sounds
01:37and then when you think about that
01:38against the hundreds of pieces
01:40you just blast it off that guard tower
01:42all of it interacting with the city
01:44it kind of blows your mind
01:48one issue that we've always had to deal with in the past
01:50is fragmentation
01:51you know where you never really know what anyone's going to be playing on
01:54are they going to have a home theater
01:55are they just going to be playing on the speakers in their TV
01:58is one of those speakers on their TV going to be broken?
02:00and it was very difficult for us to know just what our game is going to sound like for any

02:06we worked directly with our hardware team at PlayStation to create a custom audio mix for the PS Gold wireless
02:14headsets
02:14really what that gets the player is this unique custom mix
02:18specifically tailored for the headset for Infamous Second Son
02:22having kind of a fixed platform of the headphones is super exciting for us
02:28because we know exactly what they're going to sound like for everyone
02:30and we can really tune it to take advantage of that experience
02:33it was just this really great collaboration to make the sound for Infamous Second Son even better with that headset
