00:56I've had no visions from Mork himself, he reckons we do this is gonna sort my armour out real good

01:08Yes, we'll go, Sav, afterwards
01:12Let's go, kill some knights
01:16So we're in the deployment phase, Darren, talk us through what you did
01:20Alright, so this is not the first time I had played it
01:22I decided to play a little bit more defensive this time around, which worked really well
01:27I put down my goblin archers toward the back on this little hill
01:31And decided to flank them with the slightly heavier Orc Arrow boys
01:34Which you'll see in a second on the left
01:36So these guys, they're not very heavily armoured
01:38They are just archers
01:40And playing defensive means that you deny the enemy the ability to be in range with their artillery
01:45So it plays off really well
01:47We're against three Bretonnian armies here
01:49One main one and two Bretonnian expeditions
01:51That come in from the sides with some cavalry
01:53So here's the Orc Arrow boys
01:55They're decent melee combatants
01:56Which means that basically if they get flanked
01:58They can kind of hold their own, they don't just break immediately
02:00I would say generally speaking for a green skinned army
02:03Is that goblins are faster but weaker
02:05And the Orcs are tougher but slower
02:07Yeah, it definitely seems to be that way
02:10So here we got the Orc boys
02:11It's just kind of my solid core
02:13Smelly
02:14Yeah, pretty stinky alright
02:17They're kind of my solid front line of infantry
02:19Not amazing infantry but pretty good
02:21And they can hold their own
02:22They've got 120 in a unit
02:23So a little bit more than most infantry units
02:26So they're definitely able to hold out
02:27And I've just activated Guard mode
02:29Which is an old favourite for a lot of Total War fans
02:31And basically that means that
02:33If they are engaged in a unit
02:35They won't chase that unit down
02:36If they win that engagement
02:37They'll stay in place
02:38And kind of hold their ground no matter what
02:41And I've done the same for the archers
02:42And turned off skirmish mode
02:43So I'm really setting up for a defence here
02:45Putting my cavalry on the flanks
02:46The Orc boar boys
02:47These are shock cavalry
02:49Very slow but deliver quite a powerful punch
02:52In their charge bonus
02:53So putting them on this little hill here
02:55Gives them that extra modifier to their charge bonus
02:57Which means that they'll do more damage basically
03:00It's worth noting that this is pretty early on
03:02In Azag's campaign progression
03:03So it's early tier units
03:05So you won't really see any of the big monstrous creatures
03:08As you've seen previously with the green skin army
03:10It's true
03:11And we are on a beta build at the moment
03:13So you're prone to seeing some slight graphical glitches
03:17And stats and things like that aren't final
03:18It's still subject to balancing
03:21There's Azag on the wyvern
03:23So it's worth noting as well
03:24That it's quite unusual for a green skin
03:27To have anything other than the law of the big and the little war
03:30But Azag has the crown of sorcery
03:32Which gives him the law of death magic
03:34And if you listen closely to the general speech
03:36He's also a little mental
03:38As a result of wearing it
03:40So the point of this quest battle
03:42Is for him to regain
03:44Well have his armour imbued
03:46By the shamans
03:47And by Gork and Mork to be proper
03:49And yeah
03:50He's in the final quest of that chain
03:54Alright so let's start the battle
03:56And see how we get on
03:58So basically there's three armies
04:00As we mentioned before
04:01And the two expeditionary forces
04:04Are made up of just purely cavalry
04:05So here's one of them here
04:07I think they're mounted yeoman cavalry
04:10Belonging to Bretonnia
04:12And as we move up towards the hill
04:13We can see they're catapults
04:15There's Fale of Fae
04:16There's Fale of Fae
04:17Some halberdiers
04:18And yeah that's basically
04:20It's a beautiful environment as well
04:22Yeah it's looking really good
04:23And the music you can kind of hear kicking in as well
04:25Really nice ambient music
04:26So they're already kind of on the move
04:29Very quickly pushing up towards me
04:30Now I'm not actually in range of their artillery
04:33So their artillery is going to have to come down off the hill
04:35Which is something that
04:36If you deploy at the front of that deployment
04:37Across this little river here
04:39You're going to be dealing with their artillery
04:40Right from the onset
04:41So I found a great strategy
04:42Is just to kind of hang back
04:43And wait to deal with their cavalry
04:45And then to play aggressive
04:46Although if you play aggressive in the beginning
04:49Their cavalry tends to back off
04:50And join up with their main army
04:52Which you don't want to happen
04:54Please don't make
04:56So we're just getting ready here for the first kind of volleys
04:59The archer volleys
05:00As the cavalry kind of comes into my line of sight
05:03You can turn off the arrow trails as well
05:05But it's useful for us to be able to see
05:07Where the arrows are coming from
05:09Yeah especially in a video
05:11When people just want to have a quick look at what's going on
05:13The arrow trails definitely help
05:15So I've just activated the spirit leech spell
05:17It lasts about 15 seconds
05:19And it's a direct damage spell
05:21So it just basically directly affects their health
05:24Lowering the health of every unit
05:25Or every entity in that unit
05:28It's not a very expensive spell
05:29The winds of magic barely got touched at all
05:31And it was just a little test spell
05:33I wanted to test the water a little bit
05:34As the unit approached my front lines
05:35And give it a bit of damage
05:36And it seemed to work
05:37They backed off after their initial charge
05:40So magic is quite tricky to use
05:42And it's not overpowered
05:44In the sense that it's going to wipe out a whole unit
05:46Each spell is specifically tailored to have a function
05:49So you need to really carefully read
05:51What the effects of the spell are before using
05:53Otherwise it could damage you in some very interesting ways
05:56Yeah you can see later on actually
05:59We'll show you some miscasts and things like that
06:00But even the most powerful spell doesn't wipe out the unit
06:03So a lot of people are kind of worried on social media
06:06And things like that
06:06That magic, how is it going to work
06:08And is it going to be too powerful
06:09It's definitely a case by case scenario
06:12It's also a little bit of luck involved
06:13Whether it actually does exactly what you planned on it doing or not
06:16Yeah random movement is in some of the spells
06:20War tech spells for example
06:21And you also have the miscast chance
06:22Even on ones that don't move
06:23So it can always go wrong
06:25So you'll notice a lot of cavalry is actually managing to get around behind me here
06:29And start flanking me
06:29And I had a little bit of a problem here
06:31My goblin wolf rider archers
06:33Which are kind of archer cavalry
06:34Missile cavalry
06:35Are getting chased down by this Bretonian cavalry unit
06:38And they obviously can't deal with them in melee
06:40So I got Azag to call another spell
06:42The fate of Buna
06:43Which is a much stronger
06:45Similar to the one I cast before
06:46But it's much much stronger
06:47And it means that when I attack this cavalry unit now
06:50They're going to be much weaker
06:51Their health is dropping rapidly
06:52And they're starting to break and route even now
06:54Even though I have two units that shouldn't normally win
06:57In that engagement
06:57So it's all about getting the right engagements
06:59And really casting off spells
07:00And holding on to your winds of magic
07:02Until you feel like it's right
07:03The right time to use it
07:05So their main army is starting to push down the hill now as well
07:08As they're slowly trying to get into my range
07:10You're maintaining a good line?
07:11Yeah so that's kind of in part due to guard mode as well
07:15Because they're not just chasing whoever they're fighting
07:17They're holding the line
07:18And that gives you a huge morale buff as well
07:21Holding the line is really really important
07:24Azag's just hanging back on the wyvern
07:26Yeah that's exactly the way I use him
07:27Really it's just support
07:28Because he has so much magical spells
07:31You know you just leave him in the centre
07:33And to go wherever he can to help
07:34And being on a flying unit
07:36He's extremely mobile
07:37He can literally just fly over the battle
07:38And go where he needs to
07:40Which I'll show an example of later
07:44So this unit as well
07:45This is another example of using magic again
07:47I use the aspect of the dreadknight
07:48To buff the morale of this unit
07:50It's starting to rout and break
07:52But once I bring it kind of behind the lines
07:53And buff its leadership
07:54It comes back
07:56And it gets into my control again
07:58It's taking a lot of damage though
07:59But we can definitely use it later on
08:00In some aspects
08:03Aspects?
08:04See what you did there?
08:05Aspects of the dreadknight
08:05That's right
08:06Nice
08:08So yeah we're kind of just dealing with
08:09The remnants of these cavalry skirmishes I guess
08:13And we seem to have won on the right side
08:15You'll notice some of my units are chasing
08:17Because I haven't put them onto guard mode
08:19Sometimes it's good to do that
08:20Because they will need to chase down routing units
08:23To make sure they don't reform and come back
08:25And here we can see the catapults are now in range
08:27And they're starting to fire
08:28It's quite a lot
08:29I think there's almost more than 12 units
08:31Of individual catapults firing on me here
08:33So it's quite a lot to deal with
08:36You can see the Bretonian general there
08:39Anno Michaud
08:41Back in the distance
08:42Yeah he's just chilling next to the artillery
08:44He kind of stays back with the main army a little bit
08:47Same with Faye Le Faye
08:49Who we'll see as well
08:51So I decided at this point just to push up
08:53I was just about ready
08:54We had just one final engagement to deal with
08:56Thought I'd bring my orc board boys out
08:59Into the hill over on the right
09:00And start really
09:01Because their cavalry is pretty much all gone now
09:03Almost
09:04So now I have the cavalry advantage
09:05Even though they're quite damaged
09:07And now we can really start putting the hurt on
09:10The music as well at this moment
09:11Is just absolutely epic
09:13It was all kicking off right at the right time
09:16And yeah I decided that my wyvern
09:18Was going to go towards the
09:21Towards the enemy artillery
09:22Because you can just fly over the battlefield
09:24And we're going to show you a really cool spell here
09:25It doesn't always go in your favour
09:27But this
09:27Oh it's my favourite
09:29The purple sun of Zerus
09:30That's right
09:31It's a vortex spell again
09:33This can have magical movement
09:34So you've got to be really careful where you place it
09:36And certainly not anywhere near your own units
09:38Look at that
09:39Watch it
09:40So basically I did this a few times
09:42And it kind of doubled back on my own guy
09:44And didn't really go quite as well
09:45So there's a bit of a random chance that it's going to work
09:48And it worked beautifully there
09:50And I landed my general down on their artillery
09:52Just to keep them busy
09:53It doesn't actually
09:54Legendary Lord and Warhammer

09:58I'm still you know an old school Total War player
10:00I'm still learning

10:04So here we have Fatal Faith
10:05She's moving up into the battle
10:07About to cast Wind Blast
10:09And she's using Law of Heavens
10:12But it's a miscast
10:14Do you want to talk about miscast?
10:16Sure I do
10:16A miscast doesn't necessarily work the way that it does in tabletop
10:20It can damage your caster
10:22But ultimately the spell will automatically always go off
10:25So depending on how low or high their health is
10:28They can die
10:30But generally speaking
10:31You should be fine to keep casting
10:34Right so I'm starting to try to envelop the units here
10:37They've actually broken a lot of my guys in the centre
10:39The artillery has done a lot of damage to my units that were otherwise in place
10:43And those cavalry charges as well
10:45It all adds up
10:46So I've brought some of my heavier infantry into the fight to help out
10:49But I've also called Azag back
10:51And activated the fate of Buena again
10:54Just to lower the damage of this unit
10:55And hopefully get some kills in there as well
10:59But at this point
11:00Yeah it's starting to turn in my favour
11:02I've got some units actually not doing anything
11:03I'm not micro-wing very well
11:06But I'm just trying to kill the remaining forces
11:08And trying to kill Fae La Fae as well
11:11And like I said this cavalry that I managed to recall earlier
11:14Even though there's only like 20 dudes in the unit
11:16They've managed to get some successful charges off onto artillery
11:19And just keep them busy and keep them locked down from firing on me
11:22They seem to be kind of trying to run away up the hill as well
11:25Seems like it's pretty much a case of just chilling through the remaining units
11:28You've done quite a lot of damage
11:29Yeah so Fae La Fae has actually tried to do another wind blast here
11:31If you'll notice
11:32And they just caught just kind of caught the end of my unit there
11:35Did a little bit of damage
11:36But most of them were able to get up and remain unharmed
11:39So you can see they're always looking for their prime opportunity to use their magic as well
11:43And then we're just chasing down the Romanian Bretonnians
11:45That's basically it
11:48Quite a successful battle if I do say so myself
11:50How successful was it?
11:54I might even say it was heroic victory
11:57So there we go we've got the victory
12:01And then we just have a little look at the battlefield
12:03You can keep chasing down units if you want
12:05And then you just hit end battle and there we go
12:08Boom heroic victory

12:10Easy so we're playing on hard by the way as well
12:12In case people are wondering the difficulty
12:14It can get much harder and it can get much easier depending on your play style
