00:04:09Tell us a little bit about the impetus of this. Where did the idea come from for this?
00:04:17After LittleBigPlanet, we wanted to keep going with the user generated content thing,
00:04:26but go more 3D and more dreamy.
00:04:30While LittleBigPlanet's approach was charm and familiarity using cardboard and felt and that sort of thing,
00:04:41dream is more personal.
00:04:43Dream is more like the tool that allows everybody to do their uncompromised idea and their own style.
00:04:53We're very into the fact that everyone that has been using Dream has been discovering their own different styles
00:05:04and that fills us with hope that the community will be able to do so many different things with it.
00:05:14So they can create sort of anything they create they can put up and share if they want to.
00:05:20This looks like a riverbed. It's almost like a riverbed. What are you doing there?
00:05:25I'm sort of darkening it. That's one of the nice things is that you can find the piece and then
00:05:31you can change and manipulate its color after that in quite a painterly way.
00:05:37So if you're happy with the part that you found but you want to make it your own a little
00:05:46bit more, you can do that sort of thing.
00:05:49I think I want to expand this world more with some rocks. The rock is the go-to terrain maker.
00:06:00And actually there's some really cool animation tools too, right, that we can get to.

00:06:15I love the characters you guys do. They're so unique. So what's your process in character design? Where does it
00:06:23come from? Stories or do you draw them first? How does it work?
00:06:28I don't know. I mean, it depends on who's running the project. Tim usually just, if it's a Tim project,
00:06:35then he basically has a story and a backstory for the character.
00:06:42And he, as far as I, he generally doesn't really have an idea what the character looks like. At least
00:06:48he doesn't give any direction there.
00:06:51And then usually it's either, so on, on Broken Age, I guess, or on Psychonauts, it was just Scott Campbell
00:06:59would know the name of the character and a little bit about their backstory.
00:07:03And then he would just, he would just go from there and just do a bunch of really quick sketches.
00:07:08And then show them to Tim and just kind of, Tim would just give direction on where he wanted it
00:07:12to go.
00:07:13And he would just keep iterating and iterating on it until they found what he wanted.
00:07:19It would be very good to see some, a double find character running around this space by the end of
00:07:29this stream.
00:07:33Yeah, no, it's absolutely, one of the things that is, is dream, dream is really designed to be a sketching
00:07:41tool in a, in quite a holistic way.
00:07:44So if you just wake up in the morning and you've got a vision for a complete game moment, you
00:07:51should be able to go in and make it happen.
00:07:54And if you want to make it from scratch and you have a very particular look in mind, you can
00:08:00do that.
00:08:01But if you, if you just want to collage it out of people's stuff, you can as well, which is
00:08:06really fast and fun.
