00:20Russia summoned Israel's ambassador over a deadly near-miss involving journalists in
00:26Lebanon. Moscow is calling it deliberate. Israel says it was not targeting media. So what really
00:34happened? The incident took place on March 19, 2026, in southern Lebanon, near the Latani Rether.
00:42Two RT journalists reporting live from the ground when suddenly an Israeli missile struck
00:48just meters behind them. Video from the scene shows the reporter mid-broadcast,
00:53then diving for cover as the explosion hits. Both journalists were wearing clearly marked press
01:00vests, their vehicle also marked, and yet they were injured by shrapnel. Russia's response was swift.
01:07The foreign ministry summoned Israel's ambassador, calling the strike a gross violation of international
01:13law. And more importantly, they said it cannot be called accidental. Moscow is now linking this
01:20attack to a larger pattern, pointing to nearly 200 journalists killed in Gaza, framing it as
01:26a broader threat to press freedom. Israel, however, is pushing back. The IDF says it does not target
01:33journalists and has promised an investigation. They also claim warnings had already been issued
01:39for operations in the area. But the timing and precision of the stripe is raising serious questions.
01:45Beyond the battlefield, this is quickly becoming a geopolitical moment. Russia could now use this
01:51incident to ramp up support for Iran through intelligence sharing, weapons supply, and diplomatic
01:57pressure, all without firing a single shot. So is this a tragic accident in a war zone or the start
02:04of a larger global escalation? The answer could reshape the conflict ahead.
02:09I guess so. Yeah, well, you've probably all seen the footage of the airstrike that took place in
02:15Surah District as we were reporting on the destruction of a bridge. We've been treated in
02:20hospital for our injuries. I had a shrapnel wound in my arm deeply embedded in the muscle here. That's
02:26been taken out. And here it is in this pot here. But what I do want to say is that
02:31this was a deliberate
02:33targeted attack on journalists. There's no mistake about it. This was an Israeli precision strike from
02:39a fighter jet. What we were doing was we were reporting on the attacks on bridges, which is
02:45effectively severing South Lebanon from the rest of the country. One million people now internally
02:50displaced. This is the real story. It's not about us coming under attack as journalists. What we're
02:56seeing now and what we were reporting on is this plan for Israel to ethnically cleanse the south of
03:03Lebanon. This is without doubt an attack. This is on the scale or bigger than the scale of the of
03:11the
03:11Nakba. This is the fourth displacement of a million people, which remains a war crime. And also we have to
03:17say that attacking journalists is a war crime. Attacking civilian infrastructure is a war crime.
03:22But if they think that they're going to silence us, if they think that we're going to stay out of
03:26the
03:26field, they're very, very much mistaken.
