Has the NIL era been good or bad for college basketball, or somewhere in between?
Transcript
00:00I'm happy that St. John's is able to spend the money.
00:03I've never been upset, you know, when Steve Cohen has spent more money or any other team.
00:08I mean, it's a little different.
00:09I mean, that's a pro team, you know.
00:10But I just, I understand it's different, but I'm just talking about as far as an advantage goes.
00:15Like, that's the apples to apples argument.
00:18Like, I don't care if St. John's has an advantage money-wise.
00:21I don't.
00:22Like, that doesn't mean anything to me because I'm happy that there is a giant donor there
00:27that's willing to support the program because for many, many years,
00:30they did not get that financial support.
00:33Here's the only thing that bothers me about all of this is when players are like 23 and 24 years
00:39old.
00:39Yeah.
00:40You know, and maybe they didn't.
00:41On their fourth team.
00:42Or maybe they didn't go to college.
00:44Maybe they went to the G League and they weren't able to make it.
00:46Yeah.
00:47You know, and they still have college eligibility remaining.
00:50I mean, that's the kind of thing.
00:51Like, I always thought that college sports should be like 18 to 22.
00:55And that's it.
00:57You know, maybe a fifth year if you have a significant injury.
01:01Not if you played four games, you know, in a football season where they say,
01:05okay, you played your four games and now we're going to sit you out and we're going to redshirt you.
01:09I mean, there's got to be some sort of uniformity across the landscape of college sports.
01:16You see, this is the frustrating part of it.
01:18Advisory.
