02:39You may also have seen this feedback dial that comes up from time to time.
02:43That's also a piece of Homeworld.
02:45For those people that have played Homeworld, that was a big part of the 3D movement in that game.
02:48In our game, it is actually a 2D play space with a lot of height variation.
02:53So we've got this feedback dial to try and match this game to the Homeworld vibe,
02:59but also give tactical choices about where you're going to place your units,
03:03where there is height advantage or disadvantage.
03:07And though we are set on a planet, the 3D concepts do play a powerful role in the gameplay.
03:12So manipulating the terrain and planning your attack patterns around it is really important.
03:20So we're making a move here on the artifact.
03:22It's that purple, glowing purple object over to the right there.
03:27And what we wanted to accomplish with artifact retrieval is kind of a sense of almost like soccer or hockey,
03:33a very mobile, very dynamic game type.
03:39So we've got three artifacts on the map, and you can choose to focus on controlling the map.
03:44You can choose to focus on dominating your opponent, kind of classic RTS decisions.
03:47But I can also choose to focus on extracting these artifacts.
03:51And to do that, we're going to need to support these base runners as they go off in a battle.
03:55So what we're trying to do here is secure that.
03:57Speaking of battle, here we are.
03:59Okay, so we have a bunch of Rory's forces near one of the artifacts.
04:04You can see the little pink glowy thing in the world.
04:07That is actually also messaged at the top of the screen.
04:10Those hexagons that are all filled in indicate that there are three artifacts ready to pick up.
04:14And right now we have a little scrimmage, the first of the game,
04:18where the two forces are sizing each other up and seeing who is going to probably take this.
04:26And it looks like we have a base runner in the region that is now going to move in and
04:30try and collect this guy.
04:31Nice move, Rory.
04:33And what I'm trying to do here with Elliot, one of our other designers,
04:36we're trying to grab this artifact.
04:37We've got our light attack vehicles there out in front.
04:40They're kind of scouting for our long-range rail guns that we've got in the back.
04:43The other unit that we've got here is the Armored Assault, which is kind of our, breaks the wedge.
04:48He's our heavily armored unit, moves a little bit slower.
04:50It's really strong against light vehicles, which we'll see those sand skimmers up there
04:55starting to back off as they're moving up.
04:57And these are all Tier 1 units right now.
04:59We don't see any of the heavy units or the mid-range units yet.
05:03But presumably that's coming.
05:05But right now it looks like we're just still focused on capturing this artifact.
05:10Which we're moving this guy back.
05:13But we do have, still have forces here.
05:15So it looks like we're going to go ahead and hold this position.
05:17Worth pointing out, those Armored Assault units there are sitting atop a hill.
05:20And they're actually gaining advantage from that.
05:22So terrain doesn't just break line of fire.
05:24It's also going to provide a significant advantage here.
05:27And you can see they're just melting, those sand skimmers that come on.
05:30I love seeing the burning guys.
05:31Sometimes when units are not quite dead, but they're burning.
05:36Oh, we actually have a flank here from one of the opposing players.
05:40They're trying to catch this artifact.
05:41Right on.
05:42I love that.
05:43You can see that they were backing away and now they're coming at you from the other side.
05:47So we opted to hold that position and not escort this base runner back.
05:51I'm always so uncertain whether the base runner is going to make it.
05:54You can see the health bar going down as these guys are shooting at him.
05:57But it looks like he could have enough power to make it to the extraction zone.
06:02I don't agree.
06:03We've split our forces here.
06:04We were trying to control this and move the artifact back.
06:07And that was a pretty bad play.
06:08Oh, you know the outcome.
06:09Yeah.
06:12Yeah, I'm cheating a little bit.
06:14Oh, no.
06:16Base runner is down.
06:18And these guys are going to fall back.
06:20And it looks like we'll form up and make a couple of more runs and a few more artifacts.
06:25But that is a sneak peek at multiplayer and artifact retrieval.
