00:30The island itself is a direct one-to-one. We actually got the data for the height, length, and width
00:35on the island, and that directly translated into frostbite.
00:37That came with some challenges. Alcatraz was built first as a fort, and then as a prison.
00:42There are extreme imbalances as far as gunplay and tactical spaces, and the pathing is really terrible.
00:48It's all about control and giving the guards the upper hand, and so for a map, we had to break

00:53Add some extra entrances, stairwells, etc. to make things fair and a lot more fun.
00:58The actual island itself is currently under restoration, so all that repair work provided us with some thematic elements for
01:04adding cover and things of that nature.
01:05For the most part, though, if you compare the map to real life, it's all there.
01:11There's really only one major part we changed. The shower area is not actually on Alcatraz.
01:16Being big fans of the film The Rock, we had to have the shootout in the shower sequence.
01:20I imagine most people that saw the film believe that to be an actual location, so hopefully the fans enjoy
01:24the addition.
