00:55What we wanted was something relentlessly dark and seedy.
00:59The result was a strong commitment to distinctive graphics.
01:03We needed a rendering engine that could handle both darkness and light.
01:08We also wanted it to be easy for players to find their way in settings that are sometimes pitch black.
01:14So we invented a new technology.
01:16A mixture of 2D top-down perspective with small 3D voxel characters
01:21who mesh with the settings and lighting effects seamlessly.

01:27In Too Dark, sound is particularly important for the gameplay.
01:31All of the game's characters have a field of vision and hearing,
01:35so they can hear whatever noise the player makes.
01:37The sound can actually be seen in the darkness.
01:39The music is also really important.
01:42Too Dark is a level-based adventure game.
01:45Each level is a challenge, where you encounter a new serial killer,
01:49a new environment, and new traps.
01:52You play as Smith, who is searching for his kidnapped children.
01:56To do that, you have to explore the darkest corners of Gloomywood.

02:06At first, they follow you quietly.
02:09But picture this.
02:10Getting into a serial killer's lair is already tough enough.
02:13But getting out again with 10 kids,
02:17each more scared and quivering than the last, that's another story.

02:23Not only is Too Dark scheduled for release this year on Mac and PC,
