00:42Hey, come on now, thank you.
00:45Hey, yo, what's happening?
00:48I love it.
00:49Hey, what's up, Wollin' it, Ron?
00:51Hey, come on, ladies and gentlemen.
00:53That's right, that's right.
00:55Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome.
01:00Come on, that's how you do it.
01:03Ah, I love you.
01:05Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself.
01:07Welcome, everybody.
01:07Welcome, welcome, welcome to The Tonight Show.
01:10This is it.
01:11You're here.
01:12I made it.
01:15Guys, this is one of the best times of the year.
01:17It's spring break.
01:18Woo-hoo!
01:19Woo-hoo!
01:21Woo-hoo!
01:21Woo-hoo!
01:21Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day.
01:23Woo-hoo!
01:25And it's officially March Madness.
01:27Woo-hoo!
01:28Woo-hoo!
01:30Or as your liver calls it, one battle after another.
01:32Woo-hoo!
01:34That's right, March Madness kicks off this week, and I read that 100 million brackets are expected
01:39to be filled out.
01:40Ooh.
01:41Yeah, we actually have an office pool here, and the stakes are pretty high.
01:43This year, the winner gets one gallon of gas.
01:46Ooh.
01:47Yeah, everyone loves filling out a bracket.
01:49Even President Trump did one.
01:51Uh, can we see it?
01:52Even that's redacted.
01:53Oh, wow.
01:55Even that's redacted.
01:56That's crazy.
01:59Let's get to some news.
02:00Well, guys, today is day 17 of the war in Iran, and Trump just said that the war will
02:04end when he, quote, feels it in his bones.
02:08That's reassuring.
02:10Uh, can't wait until Trump goes on social media and posts, feeling cute might attack
02:14Sweden later.
02:17Today, Trump claimed that a former U.S. president recently told him that he wished he had taken
02:21action against Iran, but didn't say which one.
02:24Trump was like, I won't say who, but we had a great conversation in my bathroom mirror.
02:29Yeah.
02:31In an interview over the weekend, Trump said that U.S. strikes have totally demolished
02:35Iran's Karg Island, but we may hit it a few more times, quote, just for fun.
02:40Um, geez, I can't believe the Nobel Peace Prize Committee just keeps snubbing this guy.
02:45I don't know.
02:45I don't understand what's the problem.
02:48Yeah, Trump has continued to escalate the war in the Middle East, and you might not think
02:51that's what his voters elected him to do, but check out this interview we did with the
02:55Trump supporter right before he began his second term.
02:57Look at this.
02:58Sir, you voted for President Trump.
03:00What are you hoping to see from a second Trump administration?
03:03Well, I'm a working class guy with three kids, so it's pretty simple.
03:06I hope he attacks Iran without any particular goal in mind and sends gas prices through the
03:11roof.
03:12And I want to be specific here.
03:13I don't want him to know why he's starting a war or when it'll end, but I do want it
03:18to cost $82 to fill up my Kia Sorento.
03:21Of course, my true dream is that he'll make Marco Rubio wear shoes that are way too big
03:25for him, but I don't want to push my luck.
03:29Wow.
03:29Isn't that amazing?
03:32That's exactly what they wanted.
03:34This guy's got to be feeling pretty good right now.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Yeah, well, this is big.
03:38Trump has been complaining that the headlines about the war in Iran are too negative.
03:42Trump is always saying the media is against him, so he actually started writing some of
03:45the headlines of his own.
03:46Oh.
03:46I'll show you what I mean.
03:48The original headline says,
03:52But Trump's headline is,
04:02Next up,
04:04Gas prices skyrocket to $3.70 per gallon, but Trump's headline says,
04:10There's never been a better time to buy a Tesla.
04:17Wow.
04:17Kim Jong-un oversees nuclear tests.
04:22Bestie acting cray-cray and I'm seated.
04:28And finally,
04:30Popeye's chicken closing dozens of locations.
04:34Trump barricades self in situation room to deal with national emergency.
04:43Oh, I didn't have the head.
04:45Switching gears to some entertainment news,
04:47last night was the 98th Academy Awards.
04:49Oh.
04:50Oh, yeah.
04:53It was a historic night.
04:55For the first time, the Oscars modeled their stage after a P.F. Chang's.
04:58Oh.
05:03This is wild.
05:04There was a tie for best live action short film.
05:07And here's one of the winners.
05:16Well.
05:20When people are talking about this,
05:21one of the stars of Marty's Supreme Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary
05:24had a very interesting outfit.
05:25Look at this.
05:26Oh.
05:28Looks like a karate instructor who won Powerball.
05:33Well, some business news.
05:34BuzzFeed said that they have substantial doubt
05:36that they can stay in business.
05:38Yep.
05:38Here to tell us more about this is BuzzFeed spokesman Peter McNally.
05:42Peter, welcome.
05:44Thanks for having me.
05:46So, what exactly is causing the decline of BuzzFeed?
05:50Want to feel old?
05:51These 17 BuzzFeed articles haven't been clicked on in 12 years.
05:58I'm sorry.
05:58Why are you talking like that?
06:00Only 90s kids will remember why I'm talking like this.
06:06BuzzFeed didn't even exist in the 90s.
06:0923 signs you're the know-it-all in your friend group.
06:13I see what you're doing,
06:14but I'm pretty sure clickbait doesn't work
06:16if you're just saying it out loud.
06:17You sure, Jimmy?
06:19Because this next sentence might be the craziest thing you hear today.
06:25Okay, what is it?
06:27I'd tell you, but only 90s kids would understand.
06:32Stop talking about 90s kids.
06:34Do you have any ideas for ways to save BuzzFeed?
06:37No, but this one simple trick
06:39will change the way you cook eggs forever.
06:42Look, look, I don't think we're getting anywhere here.
06:45Wait, I have something to say,
06:47and I promise it's not clickbait.
06:49It's just a true statement of fact.
06:51Great.
06:52Finally, what is it?
06:54You won't believe what Jimmy Fallon looks like now.
06:58All right, we gotta move on.
06:59We gotta move on.
07:01Only 90s kids have to move on.
07:03All right, thank you, buddy.
07:04Thank you very much.
07:07Well, this made me laugh.
07:08I saw that Kevin Hart is asking a museum
07:10to redo a wax statue of him
07:12because it doesn't look anything like.
07:14You see this?
07:15This is real.
07:16Can we see the statue?
07:18Wow.
07:21No.
07:22I don't know who that is.
07:24No, that's not Kevin Hart.
07:26It's Kevin Hart, man.
07:30Dude, that looks, wow.
07:32That looks like Jake from State Farm.
07:37It's interesting, but now I guess other statues
07:39are speaking out about that.
07:40Oh, good.
07:41For example, this statue of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo said,
07:45Irma Gerd, here the hair is there.
07:49And this statue of Lucille Ball said,
07:52That lurks Nitin Lurk, Kevin Hart.
07:56And this plaque of Elvis Presley said,
08:00Irma Gerd, Kevin looks, Irma Gerd.
08:05Then this wax figure of Prince William said,
08:09Irma Gerd think Kevin looks fern-terr-stick.
08:13And finally, this wax figure of Leonardo DiCaprio said,
08:16Irma Gerd, one bird-terr-stick.
08:20After one bird-terr-sticker, one burst perkshire.
08:25We need to talk about Kevin Hart.
08:35And finally, I read that Taco Bell is introducing
08:38an edible sauce packet.
08:41Edible sauce packet, Taco Bell customer's like,
08:43Wait, were we not supposed to be eating the sauce packet?
08:46We have a great show.
08:47Give it up for The Root Rap.
09:02Hey guys, St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow,
09:05and we wanted to do something special for that.
09:08So we had some of these made.
09:11Oh.
09:16That's right.
09:17That's right.
09:18A great quality cotton.
09:20Love it.
09:20It's a great quality cotton.
09:22And it makes a great scarf.
09:25Ooh.
09:25As well as a shirt.
09:28When you're eating your soda bread.
09:30And you're splitting the G.
09:32Split the G.
09:33Don't split the G.
09:35You split my G instead of splitting your own G.
09:38Well, it is the Fallon four-leaf clover,
09:40which no one knows about.
09:42But it actually is there.
09:44It's the monologue mark that I walk out to every night.
09:46Oh.
09:46I stand on, instead of a star,
09:48I stand on a four-leaf clover.
09:49Oh.
09:50Yeah.
09:50So anyways, these are available.
09:53They're very decent price.
09:55How much?
09:55Like $700?
09:56$89.95.
09:59Anyways, these are available online.
10:01Everyone can pick these up.
10:02They're cheap.
10:03$87 each.
10:06Online at the NBC store.
10:07Ooh.
10:08This is the website.
10:09Is that what it's called?
10:10The NBC store?
10:11It can't be.
10:14You want me to Google what it is?
10:15Yeah, could you do that right now?
10:17I love my producers.
10:18Yeah.
10:18Amazing.
10:19Can you Google it?
10:21Google it.
10:21Google it.

10:32Oh, okay.
10:34It really does.

12:49Oh, wait.
12:49You get $16 for two mugs?
12:52So that's half price, yeah.
12:53It's false advertising.
12:54Yeah.
12:55I better get two mugs for that price.
12:57You get two mugs for $18.95?

15:05Welcome back to the show.
15:06We have so much going on to talk about.
15:08We have to talk about the book.
15:09We have to talk about the tour.
15:10But we have to talk about you got married.
15:13Congratulations!
15:14Thank you!
15:15So happy for you, bud!
15:16Thank you so much!
15:18Uh, last time we talked about you guys loving each other.
15:23You were talking about the details of the wedding and all that stuff.
15:25And you had a great wedding, sounds like.
15:27We had an amazing wedding.
15:29He is just my whole world.
15:31I love him so much.
15:32He actually performed here on the show not too long ago.
15:35I saw him, yeah, exactly.
15:36Yeah, so, um...
15:38No, I didn't know.
15:40I take everyone from your wedding.
15:42That's how we book the show.
15:43Everyone who goes to your wedding comes on our show.
15:45Yeah.
15:46But you actually had...
15:47I know Iris is your wedding song, right?
15:49Yes, it was our first dance.
15:51It's such a special song to us.
15:53We love it so much.
15:55It's such a good song.
15:56One of the best songs ever.
15:58It really is.
15:58But you actually got Johnny Resnick from Goo Goo Dolls
16:01to perform at your wedding.
16:04Yes.
16:04That's awesome!
16:06Okay, good.
16:07Come on.
16:08You're in love.
16:09We were so grateful to have him perform.
16:12It was a no-brainer.
16:13We definitely wanted that song as our first dance.
16:16And he absolutely smashed it.
16:19The crowd was singing.
16:20Well, not the crowd.
16:21The audience was singing along.
16:23And there was a sing-along moment.
16:24It was really, really cute and sweet.
16:26And it was just amazing.
16:27It was perfect.
16:28And then you had a DJ that was one of our buds as well.
16:31That's my sis, Paris Hilton.
16:33Paris Hilton, DJing.
16:35Come on.
16:36Yes.
16:37She's so iconic.
16:39I love her so much.
16:40Yeah, me too.
16:40And it was electric.
16:41I wanted to ask you about this because you got on stage with the Jonas Brothers at MetLife Stadium.
16:49And kind of broke the internet.
16:51By the way, this video is at like half a billion views or something.
16:55Billion.
16:56It's crazy.
16:56It was so much fun.
16:57We had a blast.
16:58And like performing those songs was so nostalgic for me.
17:02We had the best time and it was great to see them.
17:04Did you get nervous going out?
17:05I was so nervous.
17:07I get nervous doing this.
17:08So, of course, performing in front of that many people was very nerve-wracking.
17:12You crushed it.
17:13It was fantastic.
17:14I also want to talk about your book here.
17:17Yes.
17:17One plate at a time.
17:22Love the cover.
17:24I love it.
17:24I love the feel of it.
17:25It's a quality book.
17:26I love a good cookbook.
17:27It's part cookbook, part memoir, too.
17:30Yeah, there's definitely a lot of my personal story in there.
17:33So, I love cooking and being in the kitchen.
17:36And that wasn't always the case for me because I'm in recovery from an eating disorder.
17:41So, food used to be really intimidating to me to the point where I would step into a grocery store
17:46and I would break down into tears.
17:48And since starting my culinary journey, I learned how to practice self-care by nourishing myself with the meals that
17:56I cook.
17:56Yeah.
17:57And find freedom with food.
17:58And I wanted to bring that same joy and freedom to my readers who are also in recovery from disordered
18:05eating, looking to take the next steps, or if you're just learning to cook for the first time.
18:09You don't want to be intimidated.
18:10And you don't want to be intimidated.
18:11This book is for you.
18:12Yeah.
18:13It really is.
18:14It's great.
18:17I love all the rest.
18:18I love cookbooks.
18:19I actually did some cooking.
18:21I grew some vegetables over the summer.
18:23And I don't know if you heard about this, but I brought...
18:25Oh, I heard.
18:25You did?
18:26Yes.
18:26I had a tomato that I...
18:29Or tomato.
18:30That I grew, and it was...
18:33Here's a photo of it.
18:35It took me all summer to grow this.
18:37It's so cute.
18:39It's the cutest tomato ever.
18:40We called it demi-tomato.
18:41Yes!
18:41I love that.
18:43We love it.
18:44We had to.
18:45And then our guests that night were Helen Mirren and Piers Bracken.
18:48And we made salsa out of your tomato.
18:51I'm honored.
18:51And they loved it.
18:52It was a big hit.
18:53I'm honored.
18:54There's actually a salsa recipe in my cookbook.
18:57Oh, my gosh.
18:57Well, next time you have to use demi-tomatos.
19:00They're the best for salsa.
19:01Yeah.
19:02Let's talk about your new tour.
19:03It's not that deep.
19:05It kicks off next month.
19:09What do fans expect from the tour?
19:12Fans can expect a lot of dancing, a lot of singing songs.
19:17Yeah.
19:18I'm dancing again.
19:19And...
19:20And, well, songs that you already know, but also songs that might be new.
19:27And so there's...
19:28What?
19:29There's a little teaser for you.
19:32We have a plan to be honest.
19:33Stop yelling questions.
19:34What song?
19:37Which one are you going to find?
19:38When you go on tour, do you get inspired to...
19:40I know a lot of bands that go on tour, because they're rehearsing so much,
19:43they end up writing a whole new album or new stuff.
19:46Are you working on new stuff?
19:47I have been in the studio.
19:49And I've been working on new music.
19:51And I might just play some of that at the show.
19:54Oh, my God.
19:55See?
19:55There you go.
19:59You manifested it.
20:01Whoever yelled in the audience.
20:02Yeah.
20:03To close the show, you're performing...
20:05Yeah.
20:07You're performing Ghost from your latest album,
20:09which is a beautiful track.
20:12Thanks for doing that.
20:13And thanks for being here.
20:14We love you.
20:14Demi Lovato, everybody.
20:15Tickets to her.
20:16It's Not That Deep Tour are available now.
20:19Demi and I are doing something fun after the break.
20:22Stick around.
20:22More Us.
20:23Yeah!
20:25Like a poor chancelor, uh.
20:27Not if I made the world, Ella Dunlap, uh.
20:32The audience has never been speaking forever.
20:35Face has never been seen.
20:38Welcome back.
20:39We're here with Demi Lovato.
20:41Next week.
20:44Demi, you're no stranger to switching up genres.
20:47You've got number one albums in pop, rock, even dance music.
20:51So I thought it'd be fun to switch up genres more.
20:53That's right.
20:54It's time for a musical genre challenge.
20:56Here we go.
21:02Now, here's how it works, okay?
21:04We're going to take turns hitting this button here,
21:06which will activate the random genre generator.
21:08Okay?
21:09It'll land on one random song title, one random musical genre.
21:12Whoever's turn it is has to sing that song in that style.
21:15Sound okay?
21:15Okay.
21:16This is good?
21:16Yeah, let's go.
21:17Here we go.
21:18All right.
21:18It's your turn.
21:19Okay.
21:25Die on this hill by Sienna Spyro.
21:27It's a diva ballad.
21:30I got this.
21:31All right.
21:31Of course you do.
21:32All right.
21:35Yeah, very nice.
21:36I'll take my pride, standing here for you.
21:43No, I'm not blind, just seeing it through.
21:49You take my life just for the thrill.
21:56I'll take tonight and die on this hill.
22:05I always win.
22:15Oh, my gosh.
22:19Why would I play this game with you?
22:21Oh, my gosh.
22:22It was amazing.
22:23You're awesome.
22:24All right, my turn.
22:24Here we go.
22:26Wow.
22:26That was fantastic.
22:27Beep. Beep.
22:29Beep.
22:31Okay.
22:32American Girls, I like that.
22:34Harry Styles, as a Yacht Rock Roots.
22:36What do you got, like a doobie?
22:39There you go.
22:44I know for ages, it's all that I've heard.
22:48My friends are in love with American girls.
22:52I'm sitting on stage all over the world.
22:55My friends are in love with American girls.
23:00I'm gonna be there.
23:03All right, good.
23:05All right, Demi.
23:07Take us home, buddy.
23:09Okay.
23:10Go for it, bud. Take us home.
23:11Let's do it.
23:12Yep.
23:16Okay.
23:19Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato.
23:21I love Demi Lovato.
23:24Done, an 80s new wave.
23:26Okay, let's do this.
23:27Roots, what should that be?
23:28Like a...
23:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:32Like a Doreen.
23:36Baby, I'm sorry.
23:39Baby, I'm sorry.
23:40I'm not sorry.
23:40Baby, I'm sorry.
23:43I'm not sorry.
23:44Being so bad got me feeling so good.
23:48Showing you up like I knew that I would.
23:52Baby, I'm sorry.
23:54Baby, I'm sorry.
23:54Not sorry.
23:55Baby, I'm sorry.
23:57I'm not sorry.
23:59Feeling inspired because the tables have turned.
24:03Yeah, I'm on fire and I know that it burns.
24:06Sorry, I'm sorry.
24:08Sorry, not sorry.
24:10That's all the time we have for Musical Genre Challenge.
24:13Give it up for Demi Lovato.
24:18One more tonight, everybody.
24:22Baby, I'm sorry.
24:24I'm not sorry.
24:27I'm sorry.
24:30Everybody know that throat like Bo Jackson.
24:32Everybody know that throat like Bo Jackson.
24:34Everybody know that throat like Bo Jackson.
24:35Last from the cabinet lips like Bo Jackson.
24:39Our next guest is a talented, Emmy-winning actress
24:42who stars in the new movie Ready or Not 2, Here I Come,
24:46which is in theaters everywhere this Friday.
24:49Please welcome Sarah Michelle Gillard!
24:52Come back with your hands up.
24:54We got you surrounded.
24:55Having a back change in my outfit.
24:57Get that plane.
24:58I'ma sit there and pounce it.
24:59I said, yeah.
25:00Here I come.
25:01Here I come.
25:02Here I come.
25:03You better get ready.
25:04Here I come.
25:05You better get ready.
25:07Sarah Michelle Gillard!
25:11Hi, bud.
25:12Hello. Hi.
25:12Welcome back to the show.
25:13Thank you for having me.
25:14I'm glad to see that you remember me.
25:17That is interesting that you're saying this now.
25:19Because last time you were on, we had a misunderstanding.
25:22Was it a misunderstanding?
25:23Yes.
25:24Was it?
25:25I actually thought you were going to bring this up.
25:27Really, I have the clip of this ready to play.
25:28I do hold on to things.
25:30During the interview, let me just show everyone what I mean.
25:34We almost had two of both my kids be your birthday twin.
25:37September 19th.
25:38Yep.
25:38Virgo.
25:39Now September 19th and September 20th.
25:40What is your name again?
25:42My name?
25:43No, your daughter.
25:43Oh, I was like,
25:45We've known each other this morning.
25:47You already forgot.
25:47Who are you again?
25:48Sarah.
25:49Sarah.
25:49Sarah.
25:51You thought I didn't know what your name was?
25:53I mean, okay.
25:55I've known you forever.
25:56First of all, I've known you forever, yes.
25:58But, like, you see a lot of people.
25:59And I don't want to take...
26:00I always introduce myself to people.
26:01Like, I don't take for granted that I assume you know who I am.
26:04I've worked with you many times.
26:06Yes, I know.
26:06I do.
26:07How's your husband?
26:07How's Freddie Prinze Jr.?
26:08He's good.
26:09He just had a big birthday.
26:10Did he really?
26:11Yeah.
26:13Oh, my gosh.
26:14Is he 50?
26:14Yeah.
26:1550 and fabulous.
26:16Wow.
26:17Yeah.
26:19He's the best.
26:20Give him my best, please.
26:22I already did.
26:23What did you do for the 50?
26:24Well, he's not really like a birthday party kind of guy.
26:27Yeah.
26:27But he said he really wanted one.
26:28He wanted all the people that loved him.
26:30And I have not thrown a party in a hundred years that wasn't a kid's party.
26:34So I was like, I hope you're going to be okay with balloon animals and face painting.
26:38But sure, I got you.
26:39I'll do it.
26:40Yeah.
26:40So it was great.
26:41Did you have a rager?
26:42A total rager, yeah.
26:43A total rager in bed by 1130.
26:44Yeah, exactly.
26:45That's a rager for us.
26:46For me, it was a rager.
26:47Here's you guys in the cast of Scooby-Doo.
26:49Oh, my gosh.
26:50This is iconic.
26:53What do you remember about filming these movies?
26:58Well, my favorite part was in the first one, we had the Hong Kong Wire team that came
27:02off The Matrix.
27:03Actually, you have something in common with them.
27:04Because they couldn't remember my name either.
27:07And they would call me Blonde Girl.
27:09I know your name, of course.
27:11What's my name?
27:11Julie.
27:12Yes.
27:13Now, wait, so the people from The Matrix did Scooby-Doo?
27:16Yeah, the Hong Kong Wire team that trained Keanu for it trained me for Scooby-Doo.
27:20It's a really cool fight at the end with all this.
27:22And I had both my stunt doubles from Buffy came out.
27:25And yeah, so they would do Blonde Girl.
27:28Stunt Blonde.
27:29Blonde Girl.
27:29And they would call you Blonde Girl.
27:30I still respond to it.
27:31That's not bad.
27:32Yeah, why not?
27:32Come on.
27:32It's not incorrect.
27:33It's not incorrect.
27:34No, no, no.
27:35Let's talk about your new movie now.
27:37This is a big deal.
27:38You were telling me backstage that, because it's a scary movie, that you have a thing called
27:43The Blood Cannon?
27:44Yes.
27:45So there's this thing in the ready or not lore, and they call them piffs.
27:48And it's when blood, like, psst, psst, all over you.
27:53That's what it means.
27:54And I think they said something like they used 35,000 gallons of blood on this movie.
27:59Yeah, it's intense.
28:00And when it hits you, so the very first day we were shooting in a hotel, and they gave us,
28:06like, hotel rooms as a dressing room.
28:07And you know, like, you go to a hotel, you check it out, make sure it's clean, right?
28:10Yeah.
28:10And I'm looking, and on the chair there's, like, some drops of blood.
28:13And I was like, oh, okay.
28:15And then I look at the desk, and there's, like, a trail of blood.
28:17And I'm like, now, normally in a hotel, that would be a red flag.
28:19You move rooms or leave the hotel.
28:21I was like, let me just check.
28:22I was like, hey, did Samara have this room yesterday?
28:25They're like, yeah, did she leave something?
28:26I was like, a few things.
28:27Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:28But you would leave it, like.
28:28Some of her blood, yeah.
28:29Yeah, on the first movie she said she lost her deposit on her apartment, because it was just everywhere.
28:34And then at one point, in this movie, it becomes blood and cake.
28:38Which is harder to get out of blonde hair, interestingly enough, cake.
28:41Really?
28:42Oh, no.
28:42By the way, you've really kind of become typecast now.
28:45Yeah, I really, it's on my resume.
28:47I actually added it to special skills.
28:49Yeah.
28:49I can talk on the phone, yeah.
28:51It's juggling, can talk on the phone, and can do stunts.
28:54Those are my three, like, those are my three special skills.
28:56Uh, we always have a phone here, whenever.
29:00Could you maybe give us some of your skills?
29:03Show us.
29:03So, your skill of phone acting depends on what, like, year your movie was made, right?
29:08Because, like, now if you have a phone, right, you can see.
29:11Yeah.
29:11But in those days, when you answer, you know what we all used to do?
29:13We used to say, who is this?
29:15Yeah.
29:15You would look at the phone, but you couldn't see anything.
29:18It's like we knew the future was coming.
29:20Wow.
29:20Interesting.
29:21Could you do, like, a concern, like, like, we're in the movie?
29:24Could you do, like, an acting little scene?
29:25Like, Ruth plays in the movie?
29:26What's the scene about?
29:27Uh, well, it's a strange caller.
29:28Okay.
29:29And it's saying that, uh, I'm in the basement.
29:33Yeah.
29:34I would say, I don't have a basement.
29:41And then the movie would be open.
29:43I meant living room.
29:44I meant, I meant living room.
29:46So, how do we, how do we set up?
29:48Um, okay, so.
29:49Ready or not to.
29:50So, it's about a really serious game of hide and seek.
29:53Because we are, she's hiding and we're seeking to kill her.
29:57And she gets a hold of a phone.
29:59Because in movies, right, they never, like, call 911.
30:01They always just try to sell.
30:02And she thinks she's calling the 911 operator.
30:05But.
30:06We shall see.
30:07Meet Ursula.
30:07Here's, uh, Sarah Michelle Gellert in Ready or Not 2.
30:10Here I come.
30:10Take a look.
30:11I need help.
30:12My sister and I are being held prisoner at the Danforth.
30:15Casino.
30:16Golf course.
30:17Whatever.
30:18Compound.
30:18People are trying to kill us.
30:20I'm sorry, ma'am.
30:21Could you slow down and repeat yourself?
30:22I said I'm being held prisoner.
30:24My name is...
30:24I decided to capture all the outgoing calls on the compound.
30:26Just in case they manage to get their hands on a phone.
30:30We own the phone company.
30:31And they're all devil worshippers.
30:34I know it sounds insane, but we need help.
30:38We're at the Danforth.
30:39We're sorry.
30:40Please send someone.
30:42Yes, I understand.
30:43We will send help right away.
30:45Can you make it to the main gate?
30:47Yeah, we'll be there.
30:48Whoa!
30:49Can you make it to the main gate?
30:51Phone asking.
30:52Sarah Michelle Gellert, everybody!
30:55Ready or Not 2, Here I Come is in theaters this Friday.
30:59More Tonight Show after the break.
31:01Stick around, everybody.
31:12Our next guest is a renowned artist who has written his new memoir,
31:16Future Relic, which comes out tomorrow wherever books are sold.
31:20Please welcome Daniel Arsham!
31:31Daniel Arsham, come on!
31:33That's what I'm talking about.
31:34Thank you, book.
31:37Congrats.
31:39Thank you for being here.
31:40Congrats on the book.
31:42My pleasure.
31:42It's a big deal.
31:43You got some great people to talk about you on the back as well.
31:46Pharrell Williams?
31:47Yes, sir.
31:48Gunna? Come on.
31:49This is super fun.
31:50It's failures, disasters, detours, and how I made a career as an artist.
31:54Yes.
31:55Do you get afraid when you're writing these books to talk about your failures?
31:59I mean, you know, this book was really a kind of journey of thinking about how I got to the
32:04place where I'm at.
32:04You know, so many people just see kind of the end.
32:06They go to an exhibition, they see the work, but there's a lot that went into it.
32:11Yeah.
32:11Do you remember, as a kid, going, this is something I'm good at?
32:14Like, when you're drawing doodles?
32:16I used to sit in front of the television and pause the TV and make drawings from different movies.
32:23You know, Star Wars, Indiana Jones.
32:25Really?
32:25That whole universe.
32:27Yeah.
32:27And then in third, no, it was fourth grade, I had a teacher.
32:32Her name was Miss Perry.
32:33Shout out.
32:34Shout out, teachers.
32:34My sister's a teacher, actually.
32:36Love teachers.
32:37Shout out, teachers.
32:38Thank you, teachers.
32:39Yes.
32:40And so Miss Perry told my parents that I was unusually talented at drawing.
32:46And so...
32:47In fourth grade?
32:48In fourth grade.
32:49And so they sent me to this kind of specialized art school, which was elementary school, then I went to
32:55junior high school, high school.
32:56Was this in Cleveland?
32:57No.
32:57This was in Miami.
32:58But look at the cool stuff you've done.
33:00This book, by the way, is so inspiring.
33:03And it's fantastic to hear about your ride, but also talk about your failures, disasters, but also motivates you.
33:11And there's a lot here that you talk about your mentor.
33:14We're not going to say who it is.
33:15You have to read the book.
33:17But who inspired you.
33:18But what is the one piece of advice that most resonates with you from your mentor?
33:23I mean, he had this thing where he would say, you know, the longer you wait to take that chance
33:28in your life, the shorter the future is going to be when you arrive there.
33:32So it's this idea that, you know, we have only so much time, right, on this earth.
33:36And there's somebody out there that's watching this that's like, oh, I've been wanting to do this thing in my
33:41creative life.
33:42Yeah.
33:43Do the thing now.
33:44Now is the time to do it.
33:45Now is the time to do it.
33:46Stop waiting.
33:47Just do it and then figure it out.
33:48Because we can all live with failure, right?
33:50We can try, but living with regret is really difficult.
33:53So live with your failures.
33:55Don't have any regrets.
33:56Love this.
33:59Great advice.
34:01Now you, you told me you brought me something, which is-
34:06Oh, I did bring you something.
34:07You don't have to give me gifts because you are the gift.
34:09Okay.
34:09So in the book, I made, well, here's what I brought you, which is the letter J that I've drawn
34:15for you.
34:15And in the book, the first letter of every chapter, I've made a drawing for the letter.
34:21So there's letter I.
34:22Yes.
34:23And so I brought you the J.
34:24Oh my gosh.
34:25I even signed it for you.
34:26You are the best.
34:27What are you talking about?
34:29I didn't even want to talk over it.
34:33Don't ever sell it or I'll know who sold it.
34:35No, I would never in my life.
34:37Oh my gosh.
34:38Dude, do you-
34:39I just did it in the dressing room.
34:40Yeah, right.
34:42I mean, when you make these things, do you know how intricate you're going to make them as you're drawing
34:47it?
34:47This one I kind of sketch as I'm going and then fill in the little people.
34:51It's like a game.
34:52Wow.
34:53Yeah.
34:53It's a game for a very talented player.
34:58You, I'm happy the book is coming out.
35:00Last time I talked to you, you mentioned wanting to do something around the city and you did it.
35:05You pulled it off.
35:06I don't want to tell anyone.
35:07I did pull it off.
35:08I can't believe you did it.
35:09I'm revealing something here tonight, which is that-
35:11I love this.
35:12There's an Easter egg in the book.
35:13This is an Easter egg.
35:14Yeah.
35:14I've hidden an artwork in New York City and it's a sculpture that I've divided into three parts and placed
35:22in different locations in the city.
35:24So people can find that.
35:25The first clue of how to get there is in the book.
35:28Yeah.
35:28You have to read the whole book to figure it out.
35:30It's a little bit cryptic, but once you find the work, you can actually make a rubbing of it with
35:37a piece of paper and a black crayon.
35:39So you, and then I'll, if you, if you bring it to me, I'll sign it.
35:42Okay.
35:42Done.
35:43All right.
35:43Perfect.
