00:02As we discussed in the last video, defining your ad placement is choosing where your ads
00:08will appear to your audience and how they will look.
00:11Your ad placement determines whether your ads appear on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger,
00:17WhatsApp and are the audience network as well as how they look on each platform.
00:22So for example, you could choose to have your ads appear in Facebook and Instagram news
00:27feed and stories but not on Messenger or WhatsApp and there are a lot of options to choose from.
00:33We are going to break down how it works in this video.
00:37So if you choose the Ad Manager automatic placement option, Facebook will allocate your budget
00:43across multiple placements based on where they are likely to perform best.
00:48We recommend using automatic placement most of the time.
00:52So Facebook can make the most of your ad budget and you can get the best results possible.
00:58When using automatic placements, Facebook also provide brand safety features.
01:03If there is certain apps or services you don't want your ads on as well as creative customization option
01:09if you want to show different creatives on different platforms.
01:14So if you do decide you need full control over your placements,
01:17the option is also available to you by selecting manual placements.
01:21We will go over the current placements now.
01:25Facebook major ad placements types are feeds, stories, in-stream, search, messages, in-articles
01:32and apps.
01:34So let's break them down one by one.
01:36And let's start with feeds.
01:37When your ads are placed in feeds, that means that they appear to people scrolling through
01:43their inbox, desktop or mobile feeds on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
01:48There are seven different feed placements.
01:51The first feed placement is Facebook news feed placement, which is probably the type you are
01:56most familiar with.
01:58And this is when an ad appears in-between posts from your friends in pages you follow.
02:03The second feed placement is Instagram, which is when your ad appears in-between the posts
02:09of people and businesses that you follow on Instagram.
02:13The third feed placement is on Facebook marketplace.
02:16This is when your ads are placed in the marketplace homepage.
02:19Or when someone browse marketplace in the Facebook app.
02:23Your ad will appear with other relevant products and services on marketplace.
02:28Feed placement number four is via Facebook video.
02:31Here your ads appear between videos in Facebook watch and Facebook news feed.
02:37Feed placement number five is on Facebook right column.
02:40Your ad will appear on the right column on Facebook.
02:43In right column ads only appear to people browsing Facebook on their computers.
02:49Feed placement number six is on Instagram explore.
02:52Here your ad will appear to them when they click on the content they found in the browsing experience
02:58that called explore.
03:00Feed placement number seven is in the messenger inbox.
03:03Here your ad appear in the home tab of messenger between conversation.
03:08Those are all the feed ad placements.
03:11Next we will talk about this story ad placement.
03:14Facebook ads manager let you post story ads on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
03:20They are typically full screen vertical images or videos of 5 to 15 seconds long.
03:25Story ads will show you an ad between stories of people you are friends with or you follow.
03:31And story ads are great to grab the audience attention for a few seconds.
03:35They are particularly good at letting your audience know that a product exists.
03:40Next we have in stream ads.
03:43Your ads will appear on video on demand and in a select group of approved partner live stream
03:48on Facebook.
03:49Your ad can appear before, during or after video content.
03:54And stream ads are currently only available on Facebook.
03:57Next we have the search placement.
04:00This means that your ad can appear on Facebook and Facebook marketplace.
04:04If someone searches something related to your product, for example, someone looking for flowers
04:10in Amsterdam on Facebook marketplace could be shown a Kalanway ad.
04:15After that we have sponsored messages.
04:18If you choose this placement, your ad will appear as messages to people
04:23who have had an existing conversation with you in the messenger.
04:27Second to last, we have the Facebook instant article placement.
04:31And this is mean that your ad will appear in someone's article on the Facebook mobile
04:36app.
04:37Finally, our last ad placement is apps, which displays your ad in external
04:42app through the Facebook audience network.
04:45And our audience network extends Facebook people's best advertising beyond the Facebook
04:50platforms.
04:51So when you choose to use the ad placement, Facebook will show your ad on a multitude of
04:56external apps that they partner with.
04:58And those apps are basically chosen to display Facebook advertising as part of their in-app
05:04experience.
05:06Now four types of app placements, native, banner, interstitial, and rewarded video.
05:12And we will go over each very briefly.
05:15For audience network, native banner and interstitial ads, Facebook take your ad creative
05:21and then transform it to better blend in the partner app environment.
05:25The native ads are custom ad unit designed to fit into the app experience.
05:30And you can see in this example how the Callenway ad blend into the atmosphere of the
05:36app.
05:36Banner ads are small bar ads that show at the top of your screen in the app you are in.
05:43The interstitial ad is a full screen ad designed to appear at natural transition points within an
05:48app.
05:49Lastly, there are rewarded video ads.
05:52This placement is most often placed in mobile games.
05:56Players can choose to watch a video in exchange for a reward such as virtual currency or an app item.
06:03Hence the name rewarded videos.
06:05And that's all of Facebook major ad placements.
06:09And that was a lot of ground to cover.
06:10So thanks for bearing with us.
06:13Just to recap, we recommend choosing the automatic placement setting in Ad Manager.
06:18To allow Facebook delivery system to do the placement selection for you.
06:23But now you know all the available placements if you need to do it manually.
06:27And you can also adjust your ads to make sure they best fit their placements.
06:33That's all for this lesson.
06:35See you in the next video.
