CZECH MOUNTAINEER FALLS ON RYSY SUMMIT WITH VID BY LAKSHYARTHA SHARMA Watch this dramatic clip where a Czech mountaineer takes a terrifying fall while descending from the summit of Rysy. Leszek Piszczyk from Gliwice, Poland recorded the incident as the climber slipped while entering a steep couloir. After losing his ice axe mid-fall, he was unable to stop himself and slid down the slope. Remarkably, he escaped without injury, thanks to favorable snow conditions. However, the situation quickly escalated when it emerged that a second climber had fallen further below at the same time. Unlike the first, this individual suffered serious injuries after also losing their ice axe and was unable to make it down on their own. Leszek said: “The video shows a man falling from the summit of Rysy. He slipped while entering a couloir on the descent from Rysy. He lost his ice axe during the fall, which is why he was unable to stop himself. Fortunately, he was unharmed thanks to good snow conditions. He was very lucky. It turned out that at that time, a second person had fallen below; they also lost their ice axe, and this accident was more serious. That person was much more seriously injured and was unable to make it down on their own. After a phone call with the mountain rescuers from TOPR, we decided to bring him down to the shelter, where the rescuers were waiting.” Viewers reacted with concern, with one commenting: “He was very lucky to have stopped.
