A buffalo narrowly escaped becoming a crocodile’s next meal in a tense river encounter.
Clinton Van Vuuren from Botswana filmed the dramatic moment along the Chobe River where the predator launched a sudden attack.
The footage shows the crocodile latching onto the buffalo as it struggled in the water, sparking a desperate fight for survival.
In a remarkable turn, the buffalo manages to break free from the crocodile’s grip and scramble to safety, leaving the crocodile empty-handed.
Sharing the video online, he added a humorous twist, joking: “Wildlife dispatched 2 choppers with vets to attend to the buffalo’s wounds. BDF has issued a written warning to the crocodile not to hurt other animals. The crocodile has since become a vegetarian.
"We also chartered a plane for a family counsellor to help the buffalo and his loved ones deal with the psychological stress this has caused.
Viewers were quick to react, with one commenting: “Man I ain’t even gonna lie… I was rooting for her heavily.”
Another added: “Shorty really said ‘not today… I got a whole family depending on me.’”
While others praised the moment, writing: “Magnificent, nature at its best.”
