A lion made a remarkable escape after a tense encounter with a crocodile in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve.
The dramatic moment was captured on the Talek River by tour guide Lemayian Nkurrunah, who filmed as the big cat found itself dangerously close to the waiting crocodile.
In the footage, the lion lets out a roar before managing to break free, prompting the crocodile to abandon the attack.
In the final clip, the exhausted lion can be seen resting beneath a tree, appearing to catch its breath after the life-or-death encounter.
Lemayian said: “The lion made a roar and the crocodile decided to leave. After the lion left, I knew it would live for another chance.
“I don’t see this often. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime photo.
“At first, I thought they had him cornered.
"But lions are born with more than claws, they carry instinct, patience and the spirit of the wild.
“Today, the savannah witnessed a narrow escape and a legend walking."
