00:00Well, get ready for the road to the NBA Finals was an easy one argument against the Boston Celtics because
00:09looks like Cade Cunningham has been diagnosed with a partially collapsed lung.
00:16Don't tell Felger.
00:18And so how long are they saying it potentially could sideline him for?
00:23Well, I got to believe that's pretty that's they just that's legit.
00:27They just say in an extended period of time, but they said it's not a serious case.
00:33So I don't know about collapsed lungs.
00:35It sounds bad if you're an NBA player and Detroit needs Cade Cunningham.
00:40Right. But then when they say it's not a serious case, does that just mean like it's partially collapsed?
00:46It's Sham Sharania of ESPN said it's considered mild.
00:50But I still even with a healthy Cade Cunningham, I still think the Celtics would be able to beat them
00:56in a seven game series.
00:57So, I mean, obviously, you know, if he's not playing, the road does get a little bit easier.
01:03But I still felt pretty good that the Celtics could be Detroit if they had to play him in a
01:09seven game series.
01:10That would be ridiculous to say that the Celtics would have an easy road to the finals when their superstar,
01:18one of their Supermax players was out for 10 months with an Achilles repair, comes back midseason.
01:25And by the way, they got accused of tearing it down to the studs and had a whole salary dump
01:29in the offseason.
01:30And Jalen Brown carried this team with Peyton Bridger, Derek White and everybody else.
01:35I mean, guys like that, I always think the argument is ridiculous anyway, because you you don't make your schedule
01:41like your schedule is made for you.
01:44And it drove me nuts all season long with the Patriots.
01:48And but it did.
01:50And it also bothered me last time when it came to the Celtics.
01:53But it's true, Greg.
01:54Yeah, but it but it but it but it delegitimizes what the team does throughout the entire season, be it
02:02the Patriots this season or be it the Celtics two seasons ago, like what they did.
02:06But Cam Newton was right.
02:08It was fool's gold.
02:08Once they placed a really good team with it, with their players not hurt, they got demolished.
02:13I would say I would say the offense was fool's gold in the postseason because the offense wasn't very good
02:19pretty much the whole postseason in the in the playoffs.
02:24The defense wasn't fool's goal.
02:25I thought.
02:26Yeah, yeah.
02:27You were able to offense being whatever it was and Drake May shoulder being whatever Drake May shoulder was.
02:34You were able to to beat legitimate teams to get yourself to the Super Bowl.
02:39Like, but the issue, Greg, is it's one sided fans demand accountability.
02:43Like I've been yelling about Tom Jackson, you know, Colin.
02:46I mean, what's his face?
02:47The Max Kellerman, all those guys.
02:48Yeah.
02:49Yet when we're wrong, we never do it.
02:51Like we were wrong about the Patriots.
02:52I thought they were going to win the Super Bowl.
02:54I was wrong.
02:55I overrated them.
02:56Yeah.
02:56You know what I mean?
02:57Like, but we always were like, well, how is Max Kellerman still have a job?
03:00He's never said he was wrong.
03:01Well, no fans ever called the show and said they were wrong.
03:04And in basketball, I think it's more about when easy road, that usually pertains to a player that gets hurt.
03:12So, like, when you think of the Celtics run where they won the championship, they played, who the hell did
03:19they play?
03:20They played a couple teams without their best play.
03:22Cleveland, for sure.
03:23They played Cleveland.
03:25But didn't Donovan Mitchell get hurt at one point in that series?
03:28Then they played Indiana.
03:30And then Tyrese Halliburton get hurt.
03:32Tyrese Halliburton get hurt.
03:33Everybody was going down at one point or another.
03:35And so that's where I think they were like with the Celtics, oh, you were playing these teams, but these
03:40teams were playing without their best players.
03:43Is they're in the Celtics run.
03:45That's why they were saying it was an easy run for them.
03:47I think that the Patriots comparison is like more, it's a little more apt to this year's Celtics because the
03:55expectations were so low for the team going in.
03:57And in the regular season, they've overachieved so much.
04:00Like, I think that's a very apt comparison.
04:02I hope it doesn't turn out that way if they get to the finals and they see the Spurs or
04:06OKC or the Lakers on the other side.
04:08I think it's going to be one of those three teams.
04:10But I could see a reality in which, yeah, that's how it plays out.
04:14It would still be an overachievement for this team.
04:17You would see a reality where the Celtics could get to the NBA finals, play OKC, San Antonio, and let's
04:24call it L.A., and think that they would lose the series 4-0 or 4-1?
04:31No, like a five-game series.
04:32I think that's possible.
04:34Those teams out there are so talented.
04:36Maybe not so much the Lakers, but like those other two teams.
04:39I mean, you saw what Wemby was able to do when Jalen Brown went out mid-game because he got
04:45thrown out.
04:45Like, Wemby's a freak.
04:47He is a freak.
04:48But other than him and De'Aaron Fox, like, I think that you could beat San Antonio in a seven
04:53-game series.
04:54Like, I don't necessarily.
04:56I would never pick a Frenchman in a tough battle.
04:59You know, Oklahoma City, I think, you know, maybe you lose that series, but I think that's a very, very
05:05tough-fought series.
05:06Like, where with the Patriots, they got their doors blown in the Super Bowl.
05:13Wemby, we didn't go in thinking they were going to get crushed.
05:17Like, I didn't hear anybody saying, around here, the Patriots are going to get doors blown in the Super Bowl.
05:23Exactly.
05:24Nobody did.
05:24No, no, nobody.
05:25Sam Darnold.
05:26We were like, oh, it's going to be scrappy.
05:27But they also went from four wins, really three, to the Super Bowl.
05:33That's not all schedule.
05:35No, no, no.
05:36They had a great year, and they were greatly benefited by the timing and when they played certain teams with
05:43certain players out.
05:43Yeah.
05:44Your offense was spectacular during the regular season.
05:48Drake May was great.
05:49Your offense was great.
05:50Then, when you got against the good defenses, your offense went from being great to not even good.
05:59You went to being bad.
06:01But your defense was really good all year long, but elevated in the postseason, so it was able to help
06:08you win football games.
06:11Unfortunately, it's just you didn't have enough in the Super Bowl.
06:14Even though the defense fought their asses off, you just weren't.
06:18Your offense was so bad throughout the postseason with the Patriots.
06:22I think that's where the fool's gold thing hit harder than anywhere else.
06:27When was the last team, a winner of the divisional round, lost their quarterback on the final play of the
06:33game,
06:33you didn't even know about until the next week, and he was out for the AFC championship?
06:36Like, I'm sorry.
06:37You benefited from that.
06:39Yeah.
06:39Yeah.
06:40All right.
06:41Chime, could you reach over, and before we get out of here, open up the window, World of Boston weather
06:46window for Curtis, please?
06:48Curtis, what do we got the rest of the day today?
06:50Let's see here, Greg.
06:52Are you fasting, Wiggy, the rest of today, or no?
06:54No, no, no.
06:55I still got my one meal I can eat.
06:58When Wiggy said, what about a smoothie, it was the highlight of my day.
07:01Well, because you got a little insight into how the whole one meal a day thing really works with him.
07:08You understand that, right?
07:10I heard the conversation with Toledo in my head.
07:14Okay.
07:14That's why he's arguing it so hard, because there's a workaround for him, so there must be one for Jalen.
07:19Well, I mean, he would need one more than I would need one if you're playing in games.
07:24So you could have, like, one of those little, those little, oh, man, like those little shakes in the little,
07:32like, cotton chocolate milkshakes that are like males.
07:35What the hell's the name of those things?
07:37Like a protein shake?
07:38Yeah, yeah, like a protein shake.
07:39Nutri-shake.
07:40Yeah, like a Nutri-shake.
07:41He's not eating anything.
07:44He's not like you, where you say, I have one meal a day, and then you have several other meals.
07:51Right.
07:52No, no, no.
07:52Which are not meals.
07:53But they're not called.
07:54Snacks.
07:54Do you know how many people...
07:55Call food a meal?
07:56No, no.
07:57Do you know how many people have for lunch a slice of pizza?
08:01Probably a million of them listening right now.
08:03You don't call that a meal.
08:05Meanwhile, other people...
08:06No, I call that a meal.
08:07No, because you say, I have, oh, sometimes during the day I'll have a slice of pizza.
08:10No, no, I said I have two slices of pizza.
08:12That's my meal.
08:13Okay, that's your one meal a day?
08:14Yeah, that's my one meal.
08:15So, my snacks, where you call those meals, like fruit, granola bars, you say those are meals.
08:22Steak tips.
08:22I'm like, wait a second, that don't add up.
08:25One steak tip.
08:26Yeah, like, that don't add up.
08:27No, if I have pizza, that's my meal.
08:30Snacks I have.
08:32I just think the whole thing is so fraudulent.
08:34I love it.
08:35But it's okay.
08:36All right, anyway.
08:37Where were we?
08:37Weather?
08:38What do we got weather-wise?
08:38It's cold.
08:3934 degrees, afternoon high of 44.
08:40Tomorrow it's going to be 53.
08:42Okay.
