00:00And the Cuban Foreign Ministry rejected Costa Rica's unilateral decision to limit its consular relations with Havana,
00:06noting that the measure was in response to U.S. pressure.
00:09In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said,
00:11On March 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Republic of Costa Rica informed our Foreign Ministry
00:17via a diplomatic note and without offering any justification of its unilateral decision to close that country's embassy in Cuba.
00:26Furthermore, without any justification and invoking an alleged and unfounded principle of reciprocity,
00:32it requested that Cuba withdraw the diplomatic staff from its embassy in San Jose,
00:37noting that this does not include consular and administrative personnel who may remain in their post.
00:45It also stressed that this is an arbitrary decision clearly made under pressure
00:49and without taking into account the national interests of that sister nation.
00:53With this move, the Costa Rican government, which has a history of subordination to U.S. policy against Cuba,
00:59once again joins the U.S. government's offensive in its renewed attempts to isolate our countries from the nations of
01:05our America
01:05and becomes a participant in its escalating integration against the Cuban Revolution,
01:10which has been rejected by the international community.
