00:18:23They decided the opportunity was there and launched a deep ball.

00:18:27But he was unable to get away from the defender.

00:19:42And now he is in search of more yardage on his drive.

00:21:46so they can't run the football let's not quibble about the game there on second down that was a

00:21:50positive play because that was a take what you can get situation got out to the tight end now

00:21:55gives a much better opportunity to convert on third down it's caught inside the 25 and they're

00:22:02going to have another first down as the tackle is made at the giants 21 well that's one way to

00:22:07convert on third down picking up 26 yards and that certainly appears to be a critical conversion

00:22:16right there because not only do they keep the drive going they take valuable time off the clock

00:22:21as well they have to feel really good about that last completion

00:22:30on first and ten it's robinson this one is stopped about two yards shy of the marker

00:22:35eight yard gain second and two

00:22:59again it's robinson and he is going to be stopped cold behind the line of scrimmage

00:23:05they go backwards there two yards and second and one is now third and three

00:23:10now obviously that's some good work there defensively being able to stop them and bring

00:23:14up a key third down but if you're on the offensive side of the ball there's an opportunity because

00:23:19i know what defensive guys are thinking right now just stop them get to the ball that means

00:23:23they might not be sound defensively there could be some opportunities and you said key third down

00:23:29highlight that word put it in bold here we go

00:23:39on third and short they'll try and pick it up through the air

00:23:43and he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage

00:23:48it's a gain of eight and it'll wind up moving the chains

00:23:55and brandon from our time in college football where receivers weren't running the traditional nfl route

00:24:01tree one thing they did learn find open areas find soft spots and set up and catch the ball and

00:24:09we just saw that there yeah we saw that indeed picking up the first 19 tiger 19 tiger

00:26:10backwards back to the 33 a loss of a full three yards and now it's second down part of the

00:26:18when you bring in extra tight ends you're hoping that each of your guys gets those one-on-one blocks

00:26:23and creates a crease for your runner but the converse is though you've got to win those one-on-one

00:26:28blocks and when you don't that's the result you end up with

00:26:36and good running there as he'll take this all the way up to midfield 53 yards rushing on 12 carries

00:26:48and that's a great run and this is where you've got a running back who feels like he needs to

00:26:57conference championship and he's got to be saying just keep giving me the ball and i'll get us home

00:27:56that play i saw a defense staying in base not taking a chance not blitzing in a situation when

00:28:01they absolutely need the football back that's either a case of overthinking it or not thinking

00:28:06it through if you do blitz do you have to be careful about where you're coming from or are you

00:28:09just

00:28:10coming from hold angles you have to be careful about where you're coming from obviously but at

00:28:14this stage you have to take a few chances as well check out now they'll switch it up here and

00:28:20look to

00:28:21throw and that one incomplete but now a penalty flag coming in late that might be pi

00:28:41so pass interference the call there always obviously charles such a subjective call you

00:28:46agree with the penalty well from where we're standing right now i think the officials are

00:28:51tightening things up here in the second half maybe a defender gets away with that in the first

00:28:55but this time the flag comes out and i think it's a good call and the hole closes quickly here

00:30:05they're looking pretty good they're looking excellent because now you're thinking to yourself let's just

00:30:10take some time off the clock work it down and of course you put another touchdown on the board

00:30:14you're pretty much say bye-bye to this one play calling here can be a little bit more conservative

00:30:19because of the lead a little bit more conservative the biggest thing everyone understands how to get

00:30:23the ball down the ball down the field and how to stay in bounds and make sure the clock keeps

00:30:27running

00:30:28and he couldn't quite get there tackle down at the one the giants going to go ahead and use the

00:30:35first of

00:30:36their timeouts and as the two teams talk it over on their respective sidelines we take a break

00:41:00everything in the playbook at their disposal.

00:41:04Now it's up to these coaches to dial up their best short yardage play and extend this drive.

00:41:14Now, on third and two, they'll try and throw for it.

00:41:23The best thing they did here, Mike, is keep their rush lane integrity.

00:41:27What that means is you have to rush the quarterback as a unit.

00:41:31Keep him in the pocket.

00:41:33And when you do, man, he becomes a sit-and-duck.

00:41:46The Falcons' offense ready to see what they can do on their second possession.

00:41:51They find themselves in an early hole taking over just one second left here in the first quarter.

00:42:22And with that tackle, we hit the end of the first quarter of play.

00:42:35The Falcons have it to start quarter number two.

00:43:14And they get this one across midfield to the 47-yard line.

00:43:26And these are the explosive runs that open everything up.

00:43:30There's all this conversation about the value of the run game.

00:43:33But when you take a look at the best running teams, Mike, it's not necessarily how many yards they run

00:43:38for.

00:43:38It's how many big plays do they generate on the ground.

00:43:42And when you can generate big plays on the ground, it makes everything so much more difficult for the defense.

00:43:57So this team finds themselves now in a little bit of a tricky situation here, Mike.

00:44:02If they don't find a way to start sustaining some of these drives and come away with points,

00:44:06all of a sudden you're trailing by double digits in the second half, you become very one-dimensional, you become

00:44:12very pass-heavy,

00:44:14and that's certainly not how any team in the NFL wants to play.

00:44:19He'll drop to throw.

00:44:22He finds Donnell Moody for the count.

00:44:32the best thing you can do as an offense is just get the ball out of your hand.
