00:11There had been a 911 call, shots fired, you hear a scream on the audio, and then there's
00:18a pause, which was just not normal.
00:21It definitely appeared there was some element of an ambush.
00:25Is it a robbery gone bad?
00:28Witnesses saw a vehicle fleeing the area of the crime scene.
00:31She took the initiative to contact our unit, which specializes in stalking, months prior
00:37to the murder.
00:38We learned that he was following over 470 social media accounts that were associated
00:43to the high school.
00:45We found weapons, computer searches, and he was photographing the actual classrooms.
00:50This was all part of his larger plan.
00:52The San Diego Police Department ended up surrounding the school so that we can ensure the students
00:58were safe.
00:59We were scared.
01:00I didn't leave the house that day.
01:02He was watching, waiting, and it was clear that this murder was premeditated.
01:32The San Diego 911 is driving away, and I saw the menace.
01:40I saw the police.
01:41The San Diego 911.
01:42I heard, like, gunshots outside.
01:43I heard somebody wailing.
01:46How many shots did he hear?
01:48I found it possibly like five.
01:51i heard a car driving away and there's a guy that's laying out here
01:58that morning i was on my way into work actually when the call came out
02:03there had been 9-1-1 calls of shots fired and that there was a person down in the 4500
02:08block
02:09of kansas street when patrol officers arrived they found an unidentified victim fatally shot
02:15he was pronounced deceased at the scene when we arrived the streets were already cordoned off
02:23with police tape and officers were at each end of the street
02:31it was a sunny february day beautiful san diego morning
02:35but right on the sidewalk you see a man lying in a large pool of blood
02:41patrol officers told us that they saw an apartment door open adjacent to the crime scene
02:48and so officers made entry into the apartment unit to make sure that there were no other injured people
02:54when they did that they found a wallet with a driver's license
02:59and there were several photos around that apartment that appeared to be the same person that
03:04was deceased on the sidewalk so based on the photos and the driver's license we identified
03:10the victim as 36 year old hispanic male mario fierro now we need to quickly learn why and how this
03:19murder
03:19occurred the decedent was laying almost directly behind a mini cooper that mini cooper had the trunk lid
03:28open and i could see a set of golf clubs in the back of the trunk i did contemplate in
03:36that moment that the victim was
03:39possibly accosted by a robber who was trying to steal something from him and approached him as he was loading
03:45up his golf bag into the trunk of the mini cooper this happened in north park north park is generally
03:52a safe
03:52community there were shell casings on the street it definitely appeared based on how the scene was
04:00initially that there was some element of an ambush it was a surprise attack there was impact spatter all
04:08around the head that was visible from several feet away i could tell that this was up close and personal
04:19so as i was processing the crime scene the detectives on my team began to canvas the neighborhood
04:24and try and locate other witnesses that may have seen or heard things it's a very densely populated area
04:31so when the gunshots were fired at that early hour this drew a lot of attention from the neighbors
04:37there were people looking out their windows
04:40so we identified one primary witness that actually happened to be driving down the street
04:46as the commotion was actually occurring
04:50and she notices that two people are involved in a fight
04:54she says that one of the individuals is actually holding what appears to her as a white thermometer
05:01and the individual is holding it to the other person's forehead
05:06now this is during the time of covet so to her she believed it was a covet thermometer she continues
05:13to drive and then she sees that our now suspect is taking off in a vehicle that appeared to her
05:20to be a hatchback and driving northbound on kansas street i remember actually asking her several times as
05:27she was sure about what she had observed and she was adamant that it was a white object
05:34and as an investigator that's a key piece of information because as the investigation evolves
05:41that's one piece that we're either going to have to explain or we're going to have to figure out
05:46the discrepancy
05:49at this point detectives they are also looking for any type of cameras anything to help the investigation
05:57approximately six homes away from where the actual shooting took place we located one surveillance
06:03camera that captured the suspect vehicle as it fled the scene as we reviewed the surveillance footage we
06:11observed a dark blue volkswagen like jetta style car was a hatchback and we saw that vehicle fleeing the
06:20area of the crime scene immediately after hearing gunshots we continued reviewing the surveillance footage from
06:35earlier in the morning and that same vehicle arrived at about six o'clock in the morning prior to the
06:41crime
06:41occurring so we identified that car as a strong possible suspect vehicle
06:50but while i'm on scene an individual flagged me down
06:56he said hey what's all the police activity about here he identified himself as a homeland security
07:02investigator he showed me his badge and then he proceeded to ask me the identity of the decedent
07:09and then he began to tell me that he was cousins with a female named amy gambara
07:16and that amy had called him she said that her fiance mario had not shown up to work
07:23and asked him to go by mario's house to see if he was okay
07:32he says my cousin amy she works at cathedral high school
07:36and her fiance mario was working there as a teacher and a coach
07:41and amy she's been a victim of stalking from a guy named jesse alvarez and i believe that jesse may
07:47have something to do with the murder of mario fierro
07:52we didn't know if this information was actually credible so there was still a lot of investigating to
07:57do but it provided us with a lead now we had a name jesse alvarez who had a connection to
08:05the victim
08:05and who also had a possible motive so we needed to locate amy and jambara and make sure that she
08:12was
08:12not in any danger
08:15amy had tried to get a restraining order she was scared and she felt helpless
08:21he tells us she has this histrionic disorder where she thinks relationships are closer than they are
08:26i told her plenty of times i did not want to date her to express romantic interest to me but
08:32i
08:32elicit now he maintains that i don't know mario and i never dated amy
08:58amy jambara was the victim of stalking from a guy named jesse alvarez
09:05i left the crime scene to drive up to cathedral catholic high school because amy's a teacher there
09:12and we all felt she was an immediate danger in that moment as i was driving up to the high
09:18school
09:19i placed a phone call to a district attorney ramona mccarthy and gave her a briefing
09:28it's very common to have a deputy district attorney pre-assigned to the case we can review warrants and
09:36it's just best practice for everybody to work hand in hand from the onset as he was giving me
09:41information about the homicide he was letting me know that the victim may have been the suspect's
09:49ex-girlfriend's fiancee that immediately triggered me because working in the stalking unit i had been
09:57working with a stalking victim for months prior who was engaged and so i asked the detective is her name
10:05amy gambara that you're going to speak to and he said yes
10:11i was devastated when i realized that it was her fiancee mario fierro unbeknownst to me ramona knew
10:24amy and she knew mario was amy's fiancee but before she met mario amy used to date jesse alvarez
10:33but she started picking up on red flags that jesse was exhibiting controlling behavior manipulating
10:41behavior so she broke up with him so now i'm getting more information about the background
10:47and learning that amy had attempted to get a restraining order against jesse alvarez
10:53but that day on february 1st we did not know where he was and amy is vulnerable at the school
11:00and so the
11:02san diego police department ended up surrounding the school and patrolling the school so that we
11:06can ensure the students at cathedral catholic were safe and that amy was safe
11:17when i arrived at the school amy was seated in the principal's office and i told her that mario had
11:25died
11:27and amy began screaming and wailing she fell to the ground and she immediately started saying jesse did
11:36it jesse did it we interviewed her at length and she described in great detail the plans that her and
11:47mario had to have children they were excited about their wedding and all of that had just come crashing
11:53down so she appeared appropriately impacted and i felt comfortable that she wasn't involved in this
12:01amy told investigators after she ended her relationship with jesse alvarez two years prior
12:08she slowly started to try to distance herself but common in these type of domestic violence
12:16relationships he would not let her go she lays out a detailed record of years of stalking
12:23since she broke up with jesse in 2019 jesse had been following amy in san bernardino when they both
12:31lived at the time he was showing up to random places that he should not know that she is there
12:37and calling her non-stop but amy was trying to put her old life behind her and move on
12:47amy really started a new chapter in her life so she moved to san diego she got a job as
12:54a teacher at
12:55cathedral catholic high school and it was there that she fell in love with a fellow teacher mario fierro
13:03i asked amy tell me about mario what's his background what does he do she told me he's
13:10an alumni cathedral catholic he played on the football team he's locally rooted she talked to
13:17me about his parents his siblings very strong family man he was very liked very loved
13:29i just was shocked i just didn't i couldn't believe it i remember it like it was yesterday
13:36honestly i just figured there was some sort of mistake i had just talked to mario the night before
13:44planning where we were going to meet up that weekend i was in disbelief
13:51i've known mario since grade school we were just really good friends he always had the biggest
13:57smile and always was like so alive he had a very unique personality when mario was in the room you
14:04definitely knew mario was in the room mario was always obsessed with sports and he always knew that
14:09he wanted to be in sports somehow at some point when he decided he wanted to be a teacher and
14:16wanted
14:16to be a coach the only place he wanted to go skid three room i remember when mario first talked
14:24about
14:25amy because he first told us that he had met this teacher that was new in town and that she
14:33seemed
14:33really nice and very cool and they began dating in february of 2020. they were both just so happy
14:41and then in december of 2020 mario proposed to amy he was so excited to have a future with her
14:49to get
14:50married to have kids and to grow old together i remember seeing someone post something that they had
15:00heard that mario had passed and i i i feel like i blacked out i i i i didn't want
15:08to believe it
15:11but at that point you started talking to other friends it started to become real and then you
15:17started realizing what had happened why did this happen who was this person that would have killed him
15:25how is that possible to want to kill somebody that is such a great human
15:35i'm a defense attorney and mario and amy came to have dinner and he had mentioned to me that amy
15:44might
15:44have some questions about a restraining order to prevent her ex from coming close to her or contacting
15:52her amy had a lot of concerns that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her she was scared and she felt
15:59helpless
16:00she was very hesitant to talk about her past to even give out her phone number to have people post
16:08pictures of her on social media amy was very very frustrated with the system so i wanted to make amy
16:18feel better and potentially help her it set enough red flags for one of her friends a defense attorney to
16:26take the initiative to contact our unit which specializes in stocking so we ended up reaching
16:32out to amy and she said she's been in fear of jesse her ex-boyfriend he calls her all the
16:39time hi amy
16:41it's jesse if you could please call or message me back at some point really appreciate it he shows up
16:47to
16:47places that she's at she did try to get a restraining order but that restraining order had previously been
16:53denied because under the california law stalking requires a threat and he never threatened amy not
17:02directly so at the time we could not criminally charge him with stalking but certainly we picked
17:08up a lot of red flags that she was the target of his obsession
17:16now we need to make sure amy is safe so we had our investigators who specialize in threat assessment
17:23put her into a confidential location numerous detectives were still trying to locate jesse
17:31alvarez but we didn't know where he was and at this point we were concerned that he may harm someone
17:37else stalkers target not only the object of their obsession but they hurt them by hurting the people
17:43that they love
17:47jesse had not been found at that time we were scared i didn't leave the house that day
17:53there was just a consensus between all of us hey lock your doors watch out jesse
17:59to me just seemed like a shark that was circling and circling and waiting for the perfect moment to strike
18:22at this point we're thinking ourselves like you know jesse alvarez was the likely perpetrator that killed mario
18:30but we were unable to locate jesse
18:37so several investigators are conducting background checks on jesse alvarez looking for anything that
18:43could help us locate him when i was interviewing amy i asked her you know what connections does jesse
18:52have to san diego county because she told me that she believed he lived in san bernardino in rancho
18:58cucamonga so she told me that his brother ryan lived in san diego that's the only link that
19:05she was aware of that jesse would have to san diego
19:10as detectives start to look for jesse they start pinging his phone
19:14they located his phone at an address on ferme avenue the location was about 10 minutes away from
19:22the crime scene sergeant leahy drives by the 9200 block of ferme and sees a volkswagen gulf
19:29parked at a residence there which we believe may have been used in the crime based on surveillance video
19:36we quickly run the registration of the vehicle through our computer systems and it comes back to
19:42a ryan alvarez jesse alvarez's brother as this is happening investigators observe family members arriving
19:52to the location and going into the house our fear at that point is that the suspect could be inside
19:59and he could be getting rid of evidence so a decision is made at that point to secure the house
20:06and obtain a search warrant
20:10we had a number of uniformed officers surround the residence the occupants inside were directed to exit
20:17the last person to exit the home was jesse and we had already predetermined that as each family member
20:26came out of the house they were going to be assigned to a detective before any other discussions amongst
20:32themselves occur all the family members were shocked however jesse wasn't curious as to why he was placed
20:42in handcuffs he's not asking why any of this is happening it was rather strange but probable cause
20:50existed at this point to arrest him so jesse was transported down to police headquarters
20:58jesse's mom dad and brother ryan were all interviewed outside of ryan's house in the detectives vehicles
21:06all three of them indicated to us that jesse unannounced left the house early in the morning
21:12which was inconsistent from his regular routine and that he borrowed ryan's car without permission
21:20jesse had been living there with his brother ryan for several weeks and he told his family that he had
21:25gone hiking in the morning but he was not wearing hiking clothes and he did not come back looking like
21:30he had exercised but the family said they did not believe the story that he told about where he went
21:35that morning at that point we know we need to get into the house because we have not located the
21:42murder
21:43weapon so we serve the search warrant and in the garage investigators find two firearms one of the
21:50firearms is a rifle and it is concealed in a guitar gun case the other was a handgun
21:58both the handgun and the rifle were painted white the fact that the weapons were painted white was
22:06incredibly important to the investigation because there was a witness that had described the suspect
22:11using a white item and placing it to the victim's head we also locate several pieces of clothing
22:21and items related to cathedral catholic high school our suspect jesse alvarez had no connection to the
22:29school my thoughts weren't jesse was obtaining all these items in order to go to the school and
22:38essentially camouflage himself jesse not only had the white glock firearm we believe was used in the murder
22:46but he had a rifle with extended magazines in a guitar case he easily could have walked onto that
22:52campus with his guitar case with that rifle in it this guitar case was not for a guitar specifically a
22:59gun
23:00case made to look like a guitar case based on what we were finding i'm asking myself if his ultimate
23:06plan
23:06was to go to that high school and either commit mass shooting or target amy there
23:25mario's murder just shook our community students were devastated his colleagues friends and family were
23:33devastated when we returned back to the crime scene to do additional investigation his students were
23:40already in front of his home flowers out candles lit the football players brought their jerseys flowers
23:49candles all to show their respect for their coach he was so beloved not only from his players but also
23:57his
23:57students it really stunned me just seeing that outpouring of love from the community
24:09so based on the information that we have so far we had located items that were indicative that jesse
24:16alvarez was trying to camouflage himself and go to cathedral high school and now we have a rifle that
24:22is located within a guitar case so my first thought was was this suspect planning to conduct a mass shooting
24:29at a school
24:33so i called ramona before the interview with jesse and i asked her i said hey can you
24:39ask amy to tell me what the hooks are into jesse you know what are things that i can talk
24:46to him about
24:47to ingratiate myself amy said jesse obtained a master's in diplomacy and he was one of those guys
24:55that thought he was smarter than everybody else
24:59i won't beat around the bush did you date a girl named amy we were friends okay but i did
25:06not date
25:07to express romantic interest to me but i always said no i just want to keep this friends and then
25:13he
25:13starts to say well she may have believed we dated that she has this histrionic disorder where she
25:19thinks relationships are closer than they are he was very comfortable lying to these two homicide
25:23detectives sitting right in front of them i will tell you that from what we learned today
25:29there's a different interpretation of yours and amy's relationship but she claims there was
25:33a lot of stalking behavior you trying to contact her you jealous about the new fiance
25:39i had no idea that she was in our relationship we could see the wheels returning in his head that
25:44his story was not flying with us let's switch gears a little bit and talk about this house at 92
25:5211.
25:53you recently moved there who do you live with there my brother uh ryan okay do your parents live there
26:00as
26:00well no sir they're visiting this weekend your mom was interviewed by another homicide detective she says you
26:07what my son left at 6 30 this morning he left in my other son's car without his permission no
26:12i
26:13no i was in my car so that's weird we told them hey your dad says the same thing hey
26:19your brother says
26:19the same thing everybody agrees you left this morning took your brother's car did not have permission
26:25and we found the white weapons in the garage and a witness interviewed at the scene reported seeing
26:32one male holding a white object to another male's head i've never seen anybody with a white gun what
26:38kind of gun is this white gun it's a glock 19 why do you want to make your gun white
26:43it's a stupid
26:45question but now i need it up i mean honestly just because i like star wars and it makes me
26:51think of
26:51storm trippers oh yeah this homicide was perpetrated by a white firearm and jesse's firearm was painted white
27:01at that point you could see that jesse was starting to become uncomfortable i don't know why it went
27:07this way today but it's captain obvious in this room what happened today that somehow this got out of
27:14hand right so just tell me just how what happened if you would jesse realizes that in a matter of
27:25hours we had accumulated quite a bit of evidence he then recognizes that he's being caught in lies and
27:34now he's gonna have to provide an explanation to us i guess i'm just you know a little confused and
27:40scared of just like what's next yeah i guess i'm just curious though like like you you talked about
27:49you know like legal proceedings in court and what have you and i'm just and then he slowly started to
27:56lay it out what happened jesse admitted that he drove down there his intentions were to speak with
28:03mario because he believed he was mistreating amy like you're telling me they're engaged i did not know
28:11but yeah i have to care about her her well-being she had a lot of really toxic relationships when
28:17i first
28:17met her and at times i've seen her like you know just very drunk and drugged or you know being
28:23abused
28:24and what have you and i just thought well you know it's a monday morning i could probably catch him
28:31on his way to work jesse admits that he approaches mario at the back of the car and jesse says
28:39that he
28:39fears for his safety and that mario starts grabbing onto him
28:47he was actually grabbing me and and and yeah holding on to me and like you know like clenching me
28:56really hard and stuff and and i i pushed him away and then i did draw you know and i
29:06just shot like he
29:08didn't stop like he just continued to lunge at me i shot again like again like this was all very
29:13fast
29:14that's why i kind of just kept firing and kind of aimlessly yeah because i i really was afraid
29:20for my safety and he just wouldn't stop it made no sense he admitted he shot mario six times but
29:28he
29:28never described any actual threat that mario presented he said that mario got angry said he was
29:35going to kick his ass something to that effect and then he empties you know numerous rounds into
29:39the head and face that's not self-defense there's nothing that we take more serious than the loss of
29:47a human being with that being said tonight you are under arrest for murder jesse's booked into jail
29:55and we charged him with one count of first degree murder in our analysis it was obvious to us that
30:03this
30:03was a first degree murder having jesse in custody was only the first piece of solving this case we
30:09knew that jesse was going to go to trial for this murder and that his defense would be self-defense
30:14but the motive all pointed to the stalking activity and i believe that this was a callous plan to kill
30:21without any remorse so we needed to prove that jesse premeditated the murder of mario fierro
30:40so at this point we had a confession from jesse but it was based on a claim that it was
30:45self-defense
30:45so we needed to collect as much evidence as possible to build a case against him for the murder of
30:51mario
30:51fierro we met as an investigative team with district attorney ramona mccarthy and we identified what are
30:59the things we need to do to establish that that was premeditated i did a google warrant so any of
31:05his
31:06devices that are linked via a gmail will automatically back up so you'll get replicated digital evidence on
31:13those so this thing was just beginning that google return really gave us insight into a mind of a stalker
31:22for months he would go online and he started adding as many friends and family of amy's as he
31:30could he would send them private messages hey amy and i you know we've lost contact do you have
31:36her updated phone number he was truly obsessively stalking amy we learned that jesse was following
31:43over 470 social media accounts that were associated to the high school and what we also came to learn is
31:49that he learned of the engagement through a public facebook posting that cathedral catholic high
31:55school had generated announcing and celebrating the engagement between amy and mario the love of his
32:03life amy his ex-girlfriend is now engaged to mario fierro and from that point we believe he shifted his
32:12focus to stalking mario within hours of that posting coming out jesse began conducting numerous
32:19google searches and going to paid websites to try to identify who mario fierro was where he lived
32:26what cars he drove he starts looking up how to shoot and kill somebody he looks up self-defense how
32:32busy the sand eagle police are do they track your cell phone which explains why he didn't bring his
32:37phone to the crime scene and he looks up does a shot to the head kill jesse was enraged to
32:45the point
32:46that he could not stop himself towards the end of 2020 while researching how he was going to murder
32:53mario he was posting social media posts claiming to be a student at cathedral catholic high school
33:00he would go on campus talking to other students and other faculty claiming that he was an alumni at
33:08the school trying to now get a job to be a teacher we had no idea he was on campus
33:15in the weeks prior to
33:17mario's murder taking hundreds of photographs of the campus essentially a blueprint of the campus and
33:25also specifically focusing inside amy's classroom and amy was completely vulnerable when i heard about
33:33that after the fact that was terrifying frankly it was on another level i just couldn't fathom someone
33:41going to that length with his activities at the school just shocking honestly the first time he applied
33:50to get a job at cathedral catholic high school he got an interview we could figure out through jesse's
33:57computer information google information tracking his cell phone that four days after he had that
34:04interview he purchased a rifle and a nine millimeter glock on his phone there were pictures of jesse that
34:11he has of himself training in the desert to shoot and he was going to a gun training center located
34:17in
34:17northern san diego to practice for weeks on end to obtain certificates for firearms usage for weeks he was
34:26constantly at the range firing his gun and learning to shoot and the last thing he researched the night
34:34before he murdered mario was how to shoot a gun without flinching it gave us a pretty clear understanding
34:43that this murder was not sudden that it was planned that it was premeditated and that he spent a lot
34:50of time
34:51thinking and researching what he was going to do the other thing we noted that during his searches he
34:56knew when cathedral high school was going back to school the first day after covid so he waited out
35:02there knowing that mario was going to leave to go teach at school and would be coming out to his
35:07car
35:09as i was reviewing the evidence it became crystal clear to me that his plan was to murder mario
35:15because he was the person he believed was responsible for taking away his prior girlfriend
35:26the plan started in 2019 jesse started stalking amy after she broke up with him and he became fixated
35:36on her for months jesse was stalking amy calling her non-stop following her showing up to random places
35:44he's not taking no for an answer when he sees amy and mario's engagement announcement on social media
35:53jesse's jealousy consumed him so the next day on december 22nd jesse starts to conduct computer
36:01searches of amy and mario fierro one of the searches that jesse conducted was how to kill your ex's
36:11fiancee based on what we located at the residence we believe jesse was planning to go to the high
36:18school to target amy there he went online and started applying for faculty positions at cathedral
36:24catholic high school where amy was a teacher then jesse began tracking down mario's address and mapping the
36:32area in january he purchased two firearms a nine millimeter glock and a rifle next jesse took shooting
36:40lessons at a pistol range then he began stalking mario closely watching his daily routines and the
36:48planning continued as he researched how not to leave evidence behind jesse knew the first day back to
36:53school after the coven lockdown would be the perfect opportunity to enact his plan that morning jesse woke up
37:00early and to prevent his own car from being linked to the crime he borrowed his brother's car and drove
37:05it
37:06to north park jesse waited in his car right in front of mario's complex for almost an hour for mario
37:15to
37:15exit his apartment mario opened the trunk of his car and that's when jesse began shooting
37:22he shoots him numerous times made sure he was dead and then he escaped in his brother's car and he
37:29returned home this was a cold-blooded premeditated murder and it was voluminous in terms of evidence
37:41we just hope the jury tracks with us at the trial
37:50i went to the trial and it was surreal to watch jesse and his demeanor it validated the depth of
38:01jesse's obsession
38:03in court jesse was so persistent and determined to speak with amy that he was trying to pass
38:09notes to amy or at least get her attention like he still thought there was a chance to the point
38:14that
38:14his attorneys had to calm him down amy was already feeling very let down by the system she had tried
38:24to get a restraining order and it didn't work mario was shot and killed and she knew jesse was never
38:32going to give up i got the sense that she had lost hope that anybody would stop jesse
38:50the entire trial was the jesse alvarez show there was a lot of theatrics he was using a cane he
38:58couldn't
38:59even lift his head up jesse really thought he could pull one over on the jury oh my gosh like
39:06these are
39:06some really weird search it was very difficult to be in the court to me it's hard to even give
39:14that
39:14person a name my sister and i couldn't look at him but we wanted to we wanted to see what
39:22kind of person
39:23would do this i have never had a case with such a wealth of evidence demonstrating premeditation
39:37however the defense was that jesse acted in self-defense but before the trial started we
39:45received an audio recording from that surveillance footage of the shots fired that killed mario
39:53that audio was very significant at trial because you could hear the cadence of those shots
40:03those shots sound methodical those shots were done with a purpose
40:11there's a shot a long pause and then several shots to the head
40:19when you listen to that audio it is so incredibly eerie it made it crystal clear this was not an
40:27act of
40:27self-defense this was a meticulously plotted execution of mario
40:35in my 15 years as a homicide investigator i have never seen a case that showed more premeditation
40:40more planning and unwavering commitment to commit a murder jesse had several opportunities to back out
40:50of this but he chose to go to mario's house locate him and gun him down in his driveway
40:55this sitting and waiting outside of mario's house to then execute him
41:00to me shows that he's just a cold-blooded killer this was the first homicide case i had
41:09working with a stalking victim so it personally hit me very hard i really wanted to ensure justice was
41:19going to be had and that jesse can never do this again
41:28verdict count one we the jury in the above entitled cause find the defendant jesse milton alvarez
41:35guilty of the crime of murder in the first degree jesse was convicted of first degree murder
41:43with the special circumstance of lying in wait along with the allegation of using a firearm during
41:48the commission of that murder he was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole plus an
41:55additional 25 years to life i'm glad justice was served but none of this is bringing my friend back
42:08there was a memorial at cathedral for mario on the football field it was a lot of mario's close
42:14friends and family the faculty and it was an opportunity for you know people to come together
42:20and grieve what gets me when i think about losing mario was the memories that were going to come the
42:27future that he had he was so into molding the youth and being a teacher he was super excited to
42:35be a
42:36dad he was going to be great in this next phase of life and and that was just robbed from
42:40him
42:42you
