00:00Science drives your progress in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.
00:04Science is one of the major resources in Civilization.
00:07It is used to unlock new technologies which give your people new abilities and units.
00:12The more science you produce, the faster those technologies unlock.
00:16Initially, science is generated by your palace.
00:18You can also get science from certain resources, natural wonders, and the campus district.
00:24Eurekas are boosts to specific technologies,
00:27and you can earn them through different things you do in the game.
00:30You don't need a Eureka to complete a technology,
00:32but they can help speed your scientific progress.
00:36For example, settling a city on a coast automatically completes half of the sailing technology,
00:41which helps you improve sea resources.
00:44Discovering another civilization boosts writing,
00:46which allows you to build the science-producing campus district.
00:50The campus district is the best way to generate science.
00:53Build campuses next to mountains and jungles to get the highest adjacency bonuses.
01:00Libraries, universities, and research labs on your campuses will further increase their science output
01:05and allow you to assign your population to that tile.
01:10Great scientists are legendary people your civilization earns.
01:14You can accumulate Great Scientist points each turn through your campuses and social policies.
01:19You will earn a Great Scientist after enough Great Scientist points are obtained,
01:24or you can patronize one with gold or faith.
01:27Each Great Scientist has a unique and powerful effect.
01:32Wonders can also help with science.
01:34The Great Library boosts all ancient and classical technologies,
01:38and Oxford University gives two random, free technologies.
01:42Certain policies and religious beliefs can help as well.
01:46To win a science victory, you'll need to be the first civilization to establish a colony on Mars.
01:52First, research rocketry.
01:54This will allow you to build a spaceport district and launch a satellite.
01:57After that, researching satellites will allow you to land a human on the moon.
02:03The final step requires researching robotics, nuclear fusion, and nanotechnology.
02:09Sending a Mars habitation module, reactor, and hydroponics component
02:13will complete the Mars project and a science victory.
02:16Be aware, these projects require tons of production,
02:19so try to build spaceports in cities with industrial zones.
02:23Or you can always get help from a Great Scientist.
02:27Will your civilization reach for the stars?
