00:00A Palestinian-American progressive influencer has come up short in her Democratic House
00:04primary bid in Illinois' 9th District.
00:07So thank you for supporting us.
00:09I'm sorry that this sucks, but Trump, ice, free Palestine, and I love you all.
00:17The election loser, the radical 26-year-old leftist Khad Abu Ghazaleh, was running in
00:22a crowded primary of 15 Democrats jockeying to succeed Democratic Rep Jan Schakowsky,
00:27who announced her retirement in May.
00:30Abu Ghazaleh, who formerly worked for left-wing organization Media Matters, caused a buzz among
00:35Dems for her hardline leftist views, like instituting universal single-payer health care, stopping
00:40mass deportations of illegal immigrants, removing all caps on refugee resettlement programs, and
00:46supporting a sovereign Palestinian state.
00:49During her campaign, Abu Ghazaleh achieved minor online infamy for a series of stunts, including
00:54getting herself arrested and charged with conspiracy to impede ICE vehicles during a September
01:002025 demonstration in Broadview, Illinois.
01:03The feds accused Abu Ghazaleh of allegedly scrawling the word pig on an ICE officer's
01:07vehicle, while footage of the confrontation showed an officer throwing her to the ground.
01:12The leftist was indicted along with four others on charges of having, quote, conspired to prevent
01:16by force, intimidation, and threat a federal law enforcement officer from carrying out official
01:22duties in a manner seeking, quote, to injure him in his person or property.
01:27The influencer was pressed on the indictment on the Tara Palmieri show.
01:30What do you, when you see that, what do you think right now?
01:34Uh, you know, Tara, once again, this is my first time being federally indicted, like I said.
01:38Yeah.
01:38I plan on pleading, not guilty, the evidence will come out in court, and I plan on winning.
01:43Thank you so much for having me.
01:45Yeah, um, did she just sign off?
01:51Did she just leave the chat?
01:55I'm so confused.
01:55I'm sorry.
01:56I don't know what just happened.
02:00Um, okay.
02:01Well, she asked, she left because I asked her questions about what happened that day.
02:08Abu Ghazale pleaded not guilty and ripped the charge as a, quote,
02:11attempt by the Trump administration to criminalize protest.
02:15This is a political prosecution and a gross attempt to silence dissent,
02:19a right protected under the First Amendment.
02:22This case is a major push by the Trump administration
02:24to criminalize protests and punish anyone who speaks out against them.
02:29Abu Ghazale also faced controversy over revelations that she grew up in a $3.3 million Dallas mansion,
02:35despite frequently portraying herself as coming from humble origins.
02:39And when she dozed through a virtual forum, which she blamed on narcolepsy-induced sleep attacks.
02:45Frontrunner, Evanston Mayer, Daniel Biss, ended up taking the primary win,
02:48even after he shockingly admitted a few hours before polls opened to having an ill-advised relationship
02:54with a former student while working as a professor at the University of Chicago.
02:58The former student, Megan Walks Press, alleged that she and Biss had a relationship that crossed
03:02student-teacher boundaries when she was a mathematics and political science major at UChicago in a Blue
03:08Sky and Substack post. A spokesperson for the aspiring congressman, who also served eight
03:13years in the Illinois legislature and had a failed run for the governor in 2018, said in a statement
03:19that Biss was 26 and Walks Press was 20 when the relationship took place. He was not married at the
03:25time.
03:26Democratic candidates aligned with the far-left legislative squad went 0 for 6 in Illinois House
03:31primary races, with AIPAC calling the endorsements a, quote, kiss of death. Biss will be heavily favored
03:37to keep the seat in Democratic hands in November. A Republican has not been elected to represent the
03:429th district since 1946.
