‘Are You Ready For The Fight?’: Governor JB Pritzker Rallies Illinois Democrats To Lead Push Against GOP

In an Illinois Democratic County Chair Association rally on Wednesday, Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) invoked the memory of Abraham Lincoln, vowing for Illinois to lead the battle against Trump's agenda across the nation.

00:00There's a dark hopelessness in our national politics right now.

00:04But make no mistake, we have lived it in Illinois when we had Republicans in charge.

00:10But I'm optimistic that the nation will have a chance to play out on the national stage

00:15the story of restoration that we are writing here in the Prairie State.

00:20Ours is a story that doesn't have a cult telling us what to believe,

00:24or sycophants telling us what to say, or a king telling us what to do.

00:30You know, the last time this country faced an existential threat as a nation,

00:41well, we were guided by the values of someone who we all in the state of Illinois elected,

00:51a son of Illinois, Abraham Lincoln.

00:53He brought us together as a nation.

00:55And today, the face of a national politics of division, cruelty, and extremism,

01:03well, it needs to be stopped, and it can only be stopped by people like the people of Illinois

01:09who give hope to the nation by virtue of what we have achieved.

01:14Democrats in Illinois show what's possible when we set off on a new course,

01:19resolute in the cause of effectuating the goal of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for our people.

01:26That kind of change derives not from a blind faith in the inevitability of a better tomorrow,

01:33but a fierce belief in our ability to put the hard work in to make it so.

01:39That's what Illinois is all about.

01:42That's what Illinois Democrats are all about.

01:52A decade ago, Donald Trump descended that tacky golden escalator and began his assault on America.

01:58Now the lives and livelihoods of working families, the middle class, and the most vulnerable are under siege.

02:07Our democracy, our very democracy, is on the line.

02:12So to anyone wondering who's going to fight for them, well, look to your left, look to your right.

02:19The hero of this story isn't coming from somewhere else.

02:22It's you.

02:24It's Illinois Democrats.

02:25It's each and every one of you.

02:27So I got to ask you, Illinois Democrats, are you ready for the fight?
